My experience at SkyCare was very disappointing. The work environment was stressful and lacked genuine support for employees. Management often made unclear decisions, showing noticeable favoritism and micromanagement, which created confusion and inconsistency across the team.

Opportunities for advancement and flight time were not distributed fairly, and many employees felt overlooked and undervalued. Pilots were often treated more like numbers than professionals, with little regard for work-life balance or healthy communication.

Concerns raised by staff were rarely addressed, and contractual obligations made it difficult to speak openly about challenges within the company.

SkyCare needs a serious cultural reset — one that values fairness, respect, and transparency. The potential is there, but until management prioritizes its people, the work environment will remain discouraging and unstable

SkyCare's mentorship program is something that is unmatched in the aviation industry. The biggest challenge after completing a flight training program is trying to find a company willing to invest in you with little to no practical experience. SkyCare makes that investment and will provide quality training and a level of advancement you wont find anywhere else. It's a growing company with a wide variety of base options and aircraft types that provided multiple paths tailored to your career goals. Management is committed to trying to build a great experience for both its customers and employees. The compensation package and schedule are in line with or exceeding industry average. I chose the Westwind path and it has allowed me to explore a significant part of North America and the Caribbean while spending most nights at home with my family.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
There is no best part. The equipment is poorly maintained and there is considerable pressure to operate in unsafe weather conditions.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Knowing there is a problem with a portion of the flight, and then being bullied by captains to carry on.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Copilots are servants. CRM is referenced in the training, and then reality proves otherwise. In the event of and issue, the copilot is simply ignored about a safety concerns. May as well not operate a 2 crew.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Load/unload aircraft, conduct pretrip and fueling. Should you speak up, you will find yourself not building time and experience as punishment. You will be idled in hopes you quit and buy out an exaggerated training bond.

I started from the very bottom and worked my up to metro captain.  Everyday was a new experience.  Sometimes you would get to work and not know what your mission was going to be that day.  Whether you fly a charter, cargo, or medivac you could bet you were going to learn something new.
You are expected to be a professional in any role you are in representing the company and its values.  If I ever had a question about flying or the weather I knew I could talk to my bosses or other pilots.  If flight school was high school, SkyCare is college, and you can be sure when you finish their flight program you will be a well rounded pilot.
The hardest part of the job was how much you would fly.

May be good to start a career but many sacrifices to be made. No work/life balance, no respect of our personal time and well-being.  It sounds great at first but eventually, many flaws start to show. Poorly organized, terrible tiring shifts when posted in Sioux Lookout due to high call volume of non-urgent transfers. The good flight experience comes from working in TB and Kitchener but PCP are often based in SL. The company focuses on doing as many calls as possible at the cost of the employees’ health. 

I do believe some food experiences come from this regardless, especially to get a foot in the door, but not for a long-term job. 

SkyCare is a growing business so with that comes growing pains but also provides opportunity for growth in all positions. I have learned so much more than I thought I would in the 3.5 years I have been here. Everyone works hard and enjoys the work they do, no matter which department they are in.  The work we do in providing medevac services to Ontarians and essential services to Northern communities in Ontario and Manitoba is very rewarding. Management is always doing their best to invest in those who are committed to this important work and will do whatever they can to support their employees in work and in life. So many great co-workers and friendships made. 

Company expects your commitment to your job to be greater than anything else in your life. No integrity in the company. I started with the company a few years ago and the company has only went downhill since then. They see their employees as numbers more than people besides the few people in upper mgmt. Overall okay starting company in aviation but basically a get in, get your hours and get out. Would recommend avoiding working here if possible overall

I found the management at Skycare to be extremely disappointing. The management team is disorganized and lacks clear commitments, which creates a confusing work environment. Additionally, Human Resources seems to simply follow the orders of the operations manager without providing any independent oversight or clear communication. This has led to a workplace where expectations are unclear, and promises often go unfulfilled. Moreover, the compensation does not match the demanding workload, with lower wages and longer working hours than expected.

This is a great place to work if you're looking to learn, be challenged and grow every day. No two days are the same and that's what makes it very exciting. As a pilot, you will get so much real-world flying experience that would be hard to find anywhere else, plus you will build a lot of time! 
Management is great, and always willing to receive feedback and hear new ideas about how to progress the company. Fellow coworkers are great to get along. It is a very friendly work environment. 

Working at SkyCare has been one of my best work experiences in my life. If you capture SkyCare's vision and goals of striving for excellence, you'll find yourself working among professionals with high work standards who also care about you as a person. I was given plenty of opportunities to be initiative in maintaining and improving methods for this growing company. As a bonus, I had a chance to enjoy the landscape and sunrise from the sky as I was flown for work to their YXL base.
