STANPAC promotes itself as a company that really cares about its employees, but in my experience, that wasn’t the reality.

The work itself is straightforward and easy to learn — most roles don’t require much thinking unless you’re operating a machine. For some, this might be fine if you just want a paycheck. For others, the lack of fulfillment, challenge, and recognition can feel draining. Many employees I worked with said they felt underappreciated, and the overall atmosphere often came across as discouraging.

A common concern among staff was management and the overall work environment. The high turnover rate reflects this issue. It doesn’t feel like a place to build a long-term career — instead, it feels like a place where you show up for 8–12 hours, do repetitive physical work, and go home. Some coworkers were great and helped make the days better, but overall, I rarely met anyone who actually enjoyed their job. Most stayed only for the paycheck, which was decent depending on the role.

The company relies heavily on temp workers, which helps cover gaps but often affects product quality and consistency. If STANPAC invested more in its full-time employees — fair pay, appreciation, and better communication — retention and overall results would likely improve.

The experience you get here is limited unless you stick around long enough to train on machines. Otherwise, you’re often assigned repetitive tasks with little variety. Shift rotations can be tough, especially switching between days and nights, though extra days off in certain schedules were a plus.

Benefits are okay but not exceptional. The company does host a few events and initiatives for employees throughout the year, but many felt it wasn’t enough to feel genuinely valued. Management could improve by engaging more with employees and recognizing the importance of smaller roles in keeping operations running smoothly.

Overall, STANPAC seems to prioritize products and clients over its employees. If management focused more on employee well-being and satisfaction, I believe both product quality and retention would improve. This job may work for someone who just wants steady pay and doesn’t mind repetitive work.

I worked at Stanpac as both a Packaging Technician (in the factory) and as a Customer Service Representative (in the office). 

Packaging Technician:
What you have to understand is that a factory job is a factory job. It's repetitive labour and it's noisy but the factory is kept very clean and you will not have a single issue with management as long as you simply do your job. I personally found the supervisors on all 3 shifts to be fair and approachable. Not to mention as a student, the hours are incredibly flexible. You can basically pick your own schedule and work those hours. Yes, the pay rate is just above minimum wage, but it is not stressful AND there is opportunity for advancement. There are plenty of higher positions that you can apply to as an entry-level employee and the company often hires from within. 

Customer Service Representative:
This is a great job. The employees in the office are pleasant to work with, the job is rewarding, and the work-life balance offered is unmatched by any company I have ever worked for. Flexible start hours, very flexible with days off, and you will not be micromanaged here. Management is also very open to suggestions from employees.

No where near a livable wage. The hours are terrible, and the machines are always breaking. You will never get raises, and if you do it will be one small one from starting pay. Average pay is about 18 an hour. Management is careless and incapable. HR is a joke. Maintenance is a joke. Everyone told me to not take this job, and they were right. Nothing could make working here worth it. The operators on the floor are a hit or miss. Some of the kindest, helpful people you will meet. But the rotten few definitely ruin the bunch. If you have mental health issues steer clear of here, and if you don't then you should expect to have some by the time you're done. It's hot in the building with no proper air flow, people are getting injured on the machines because Management is greedy and lazy, and refuses to properly take the time to fix machines. Took forever to get something like an eye wash station in the new building. They made everyone work in unfinished construction sites while they were building the new warehouse. They were doing the construction overtop of everyone, completely unsafe. I could go on and on about how horrible of an experience the job is. 

my sister aged 10 years in the 3 years she worked here and i never understood why... until I got hired there. It is the most toxic place I've ever worked at and I've worked in some pretty rough places. Management is completely incompetent and moronic. They are blatant hypocrites and liars and will tell you not to do something and then turn right around and do it themselves. Everybody gossips and rats on each other about everything (and nothing). They will literally time you with a stopwatch when you take your breaks which are only 20 minutes. I quit and 5 days later got a job doing basically doing the same thing at another factory but it's better in every way. Better pay, better hours, closer to home, less stress, less horrible people. I wish i quit 7 months and 29 days earlier (i worked there for 8 months) 

Terrible place to work, Management sucks and 
is always looking over your shoulder, and most management is dating eachother. Management will watch you constantly all day no matter what job you're doing. Quantity not quality products.Timed breaks to the min, and low pay no room for advancement unless your family works there in management. No training at all you're thrown into a job and expected to know it. No safety training and no licenses needed to work forklifts or other equipment.  Stanpac is a stepping stone for a better place to work. If you want good pay, full training, friendly coworkers, management team that's willing to help you, low stress, shift premiums please look for somewhere else to work. 

Was very obvious early on that this place had issues. My biggest gripe was a lack of workplace culture. Felt like I was in another country at times. Very isolating experience. Serious lack of communication from both management and between staff. People seem generally miserable on the floor and have a chip on their shoulder. High turnover job.

Under paid and machines constantly having issues, usually things don’t get fixed until they completely break and become unusable. The pay needs to become competitive if they want to keep anyone worth keeping and if they want their employees to be content. Anyone who gets stuck in a place like this needs to get their priorities straight if you’re in assembly. 

A typical day at Stanpac would be started at 10 to 7 if you are on morning shift, and a small meeting would be held regarding the day. At 7 we would start our shift and go to our designated machine were we would sort and package cups all day. If the machine you were on would break down, we would open up the gate and unjam the problem but in some cases we had to get a mechanic to fix the problem, so while we wait for the machine to be fix we would go to the sorting area and look through the box's to make sure all the cups or lids were in good condition. Throughout the 8 hour shift you would get two 15 minutes breaks. Every week you would rotate shift from morning to nights to afternoons. 
That is a basic summary of the day at Stanpac.

It's a factory job, but in the Injection Molding department it's very clean and bright.  You'll probably be bored, but the management seems to actually care and they have a lot of small perks like remembering your birthday and organizing outings for shifts that make it a pretty good place to work.

The drive out to Smithville is pretty bad, though, especially in winter, and it's hard to justify it when the plant doesn't pay much more than minimum wage.  When I started, it felt like you had real room to earn more, but the starting salary went up and the operator's top pay didn't increase at all, so it stopped being worth staying there.

okay place to get work experience but go somewhere else. if you work in production, good luck. It was an unpleasant experience. on they asked me to cancel my newyars plans to work, so i did. when i went to walk in that morning the doors were locked and there was a note on the door saying there is no work because someone ordered the wrong material. no phone call, nothing. drove all the way there to find out i canceled my plans for nothing. no apology. awful, terrible place to work ,  also they have buckets of chemicals opened and unlabeled. they use it to wash bottles. they put the wrong chemical out once and the glove melted to my hand, thankfully it only caused mild irritation

Stanpac is an ever growing company with multiple facilities in the region and more facilities outside canada as well,
They have a multitude of different jobs across these facilities, 
This being said the properly motivated worker can acquire a fair amount of experience and opportunity to move up Stanpac has a job board updated weekly in the Cafeteria that all are encouraged to monitor and apply if interested,
I would encourage anyone looking for work to apply here even at an entry level position if you are motivated properly and work well in a factory environment you will find many opportunities here.
