As i work full days at the golf course i also work 3 evening shifts and 2 full days on the weekend with the company Saputo Dairy. A typical day at Saputo is arriving to many different grocery stores and having to work our products onto these grocery stores shelves(mostly Milk products). Working independently has of course pros and cons. Pros are its normally a pretty quite working space and i get to make my own decisions on the product placement and the way our products will look on the shelves. Cons are it being independent, I have to work after many other co-workers who don't appear to show the same work ethics as I display. They can other leave product behind because they felt they did enough that day, or even had other co-workers tell me myself that some leave work behind for me specifically because they know i'll be in that day and still don't complain about the extra work. Saputo is a great job but just the environments of the grocery stores are the downfall. While working independent with Saputo you experience much interference with grocery employees and management. What i mean by the environments of the grocery stores are mostly everyone tends to make their days difficult and more frustrating not only on themselves but for their other co-workers. For example i experience on a daily basis other workers only complaining on how poorly their co-workers are and how they work. If said person leaves one thing behind or leaves something in the way for only a minute, another co-worker whom its interfering with would rather complain on how poor of a worker that other employee is, rather than take matters into their own hands and just move the product out of the way. To me for the most part I see very little team structure in these stores and it's frustrating having to hear on a daily basis how tough someone else's life is because they had to make an extra effort.

I worked for Saputo for a short time, and in that short time I learned a lot, and enjoyed the actual physical work of operating one of the production machines and operating a pallet truck. I got to meet a lot of awesome people and enjoyed being a part of the team and helping the team out. I was always excited to start the day and try to finish the orders as efficiently and effectively as possible. It was physically and mentally stimulating and I loved it. They seemed like they did try to accomodate some issues I had with chemicals irritating my skin too.

Unfortunately my employment was cut short due to not being a "good fit" without any further elaboration. I was not aware that they were planning to do this or was notified there was still problems other than some issues that were brought to my attention much earlier in my employment and understood to be resolved. They had me train my replacement in the two weeks leading up to my termination. There was also some nit picking I had noticed by some supervisors where some employees could get away with certain actions where I could not. I had also disclosed on my application and to a specific supervisor I had a disability but they did not acknowledge this except for the one supervisor who tried accommodating me. No effort was given to try and put me into other more suitable duties that may better fit, but instead I felt like I was being treated like I was incompetent. It just felt like they wanted to push me out of the door before my probation was up.

Pros:

- none of the jobs are particularly hard, but they can be repetitive and physically taxing at times. 
- very good pay for the location/industry. Benefits could use some work, but again, not horrible.
- workplace can be very cliquey. It’s who you know!
- once you get into a permanent position, steady hours and possibility for OT on a regular basis.
- overall, management is quite good. The floor supervisors try hard to develop a good rapport with most of the employees.

Cons:

- the state of the equipment needed to do the work (ride-on pallet jacks, reach truck forklifts, etc.) is ABHORRENT. Regular maintenance is performed, but cannot keep machinery in safe working order. 
- it’s a union shop, so the employees are typically blamed for any failings. There is a severe lack of follow up and/or support from management, in favour of finger pointing.
- the overall state of the facility is pretty embarrassing. Getting the orders out the door is prioritized over general cleanliness, product protection, etc.
- upper management is non-existent when it comes to issues on the floor, preferring to delegate to the floor supervisors. Lots of missed communications, or the ball getting dropped for issues considered minor.

Overall, this is a good company to work for. Long term stability, good pay for honest work, (some) union protections. There are maddeningly frustrating issues that never seem to get addressed in a reasonable timeframe, but I suspect most large companies suffer from this.

 If you can put your head down and just work, this is an excellent job for you. If you prefer to attempt to solve issues as they arise, your blood pressure will rise until you become jaded and disinterested in anything other than putting your hours in and going home. 

I have been working at Vaughan Distribution Centre for many years. What can I say? The workplace culture has changed drastically. The people on the floor are friendly and helpful. Yes, the benefits and salary are high when compared to other warehouses, but is the stress at work worth it? There is no workers' union (yet), and management will talk however they want with you and get away with it. Safety in the workplace is promoted officially but ignored in reality if it lowers productivity. Management is considered incompetent by the majority, they don't listen to their workers when they give advice on how to make the warehouse better. You're given a hard time if your work accuracy is not 100%, and if your productivity is lower than what they ask for (which is impossible to meet if the volume is low). Any issues you have are of no concern to them, if you don't work as fast as the fastest worker you are lazy. They have rules that they enforce only when beneficial to them. Overtime is plenty because they have trouble hiring people and keeping people in the workplace. Many people have left this year because of how horrible the workplace has gotten. If you like slaving away, come, otherwise stay away. (Yes, I've been here a while but am not ready to quit yet because of money issues, soon though)

I’ve been with the company for six years, and while the work is demanding, the team has always been a strong source of support. However, the past two years at the Edmonton plant have seen a noticeable decline in the work environment, particularly within the maintenance department.
The management style in the maintenance department has become increasingly harsh and unsupportive. When equipment issues arise, the response from management is often dismissive and abrasive. This has created a stressful and toxic atmosphere where employee concerns are frequently ignored or downplayed.
It’s especially frustrating that despite numerous complaints and feedback from employees, there has been little to no improvement. The lack of action from higher-ups on these persistent issues has been demoralizing and has made it difficult to stay motivated.
If you’re considering joining the company, I strongly advise you to ask about how management, especially in the maintenance department at the Edmonton plant, handles employee feedback and resolves conflicts. Understanding this dynamic is crucial, as it can significantly impact your day-to-day experience.

You start off as an on-call so it's not that great but whats worse is you can get called at midnight or 2am and they will ask you to somehow get there in 30 minutes. Most of the co-workers are easy to get along with but the mood around the lunch room is pretty gloomy. 
Senior co-workers can look intimidating but they are actually the nicest and will give you good advice. Some can be a bit harsher than others. Like most warehouse managements these days, it is run by some seriously power tripping people. Within the time i stayed, i've seen dozens of new hires get fired or yelled at for something they we're told to do by management. New hires are constantly worried if they're going to be the next ones to get booted. Graveyard shifts are the most enjoyable because it's very chill, can talk with your co-workers and get work done at the same time without managers giving you the stink eye. If you're a student or a young adult looking for any job then it's not a bad place to start, just be prepared to constantly be ready for a call to come to work at any given moment.

This company has grown incredibly over the last decade and as such brings both good and bad along with it. The foundation they preach sounds good but gets lost once it hits just above middle management and replaced with agendas and politics too often.  If you are looking for growth, experience, great pay and benefits than this is the place for you.  If you are looking for life/work balance, low stress, realistic workloads or long term employment to retirement please stay away.  This company thrives on using its resources (people) for every last ounce and then spitting them out for their competitors to pick up and realize their true potential long term.  Sad as this company was built on the backs of some of the best people in the industry....replaced with arrogant self serving management at higher levels who direct by fear of job security.

Just pasting the previous toxic work environment because this is the most honest review I've ever seen.

So much drama that it is not worth the headache of working there, Management always picks favorites, half the time none of the supervisors are on the same page so instructions are increasingly confusing sometimes conflicting, Management has a history of bullying/harassing employees, Management pretends to care about health and safety but rarely fixes anything, dangerously understaffed in some departments, morale is almost non existent, HR is rarely there to approach about issues and management will rarely take any issues seriously and tend to sweep the issues under the rug. Overall a very miserable place to work and there are far more issues than I care to list here.

for people on the production floor, it's more like a cheap factory, supervisors don't care about your health, they are not happy if  you need a little time off if you get injured. never tell them the truth , most probably you will lose your job before probation is over. they never practice rotation on site probably because they are lazy to put in the efforts .

not a good place to be , you have to work as fast as the machines, you wouldnt want it to be your whole life,there are other jobs out there.

management is always afraid of audits,and sweet talks to all employees during this time.
hope the new management delivers as they expect of the people on the floor, hope they get terminated too if they don't perform as they should

you are just a number, you will be working 8 hrs per day non stop as fast the machines 6 days a week and extra hours .sorry for all staff there, hope you get a better job someday 

I worked for Saputo between 2005 and 2015 with one break in employment. The experience and support was instrumental to my current HR role.  In the beginning it was a challenge with the lack of female leadership in Operations but we were targeting correcting this….and some old school make managers made comments I could have done without around females at work but those folks are long gone. I left my time there with nothing but wonderful things to say besides lagging a bit behind in pay for female managers versus males but this is six years ago and with time things evolve. This was a people and family centric environment that I miss to this day. As I still watch Saputo activity from afar I am pleased to see the shift to diversity and inclusion although I did feel the Edmonton site was very diverse and welcoming.
