HR is terrible and favoritism is rampant. Many great people but a few really awful ones that can make things miserable. Pay is okay but not great considering the work conditions. Depending on your location, coming home with bruises, having hair puller or worse is not uncommon, as many children have significant special needs. If permanent you have no control over work location, as HR can shift you at whim.

As a student I am always looking for summer jobs that I feel will put me on the right career path, as I want to become a teacher this job was perfect! I got a lot of experience from being behind the scenes and setting up schools so they could function properly when the school year began. I met a lot of great people and teachers and this job was a very cool experience that taught me many new skills!

EA work can be so different depending on the classroom and teacher you work in. This can change daily, weekly, monthly or if you are lucky, yearly. 
It honestly is a great job, challenging and satisfying. But it is hard, you have to be able to deal with various personalities, and the pay is terrible. The hours are great for juggling a family. 

It’s very difficult to find full time work, you go back on the sub list at the beginning of every school year, and there are no benefits as you are only a substitute 

This job included working with special needs students, and groups of students to assist them in schoolwork as reuired by the teacher. Co-workers were generally easy to get along with. The hardest part of the job were some of the teachers I worked with the best were the kids.

the hardest part of my job is being away from my wife at evenings, but in the end it can be rewarding. People have different emotions or views, you also work alone. Making sure you get everything cleaned for the next day.

Most people are very helpful and willing to show newcomers the way. Never the same day twice which is nice. Sometimes it's hard to get time with management due to the nature of the environment.

I've been with the board for 3 + years and in the last 1.5 years management has become very disorganized and it seems lately resentful towards the union members

If I decide to move back to Saskatoon I would get back to Saskatoon public school board. It’s pretty amazing to work there. Environment is very friendly, every school is very overwhelming.
