I would strongly advise against pursuing employment at this location. The warehouse environment presents significant challenges that may negatively impact your well-being and professional growth. There appears to be a high level of favoritism, which can hinder a fair and productive work environment. Shift dynamics are problematic, with afternoon shifts often displaying a lack of willingness to work and a misconception that day shifts are less busy,(don't even ask about nightshift) despite the efforts of day shift staff to manage ongoing issues. 


Warehouse management is experiencing extreme difficulties, particularly in inventory control and ordering proper parts, as personnel lack proper training in systems like SAP. Communication between production and warehouse teams is insufficient, requiring direct intervention with supervisors to clarify daily operations and needs. This lack of coordination can lead to increased stress, including issues such as inadequate breaks and unpredictable workflows.


Additionally, recent cutbacks, including the removal of two shifts in one area due to decreased demand, suggest declining operational stability. During the interview process, concerns about challenging personalities were mentioned, which, in hindsight, referred to difficult coworker dynamics and unproductive work patterns that can undermine morale.


Overall, I recommend considering alternative employment options, as this environment may adversely affect your mental health and professional reputation. The compensation offered does not seem to justify the challenges faced within this workplace.

This corporation is trying to get blood from rocks.  That means wherever and whenever a corner can be cut it most surely will be.  That means little to zero training, little technical support for shop floor workers, diminishing benefits and compensation, tiered wages, reactive vs. pro-active maintenance and upkeep.  Their idea of a reward and recognition system rewards employees with a pittance... not even worth the effort.  Pretty poor for an aerospace company.
The management structure locally in Stratford is a total bully and fear system.  If you make a mistake, you will be "investigated", if you do well, you'll hear nothing but be unable to move out of your current position.  The sh#% flows downhill and far too much of the resposibility is shouldered by shop floor workers... you'll be hung out to dry if your area leader has to save his own skin.  HR policy is either non-existant or vague and it seems things never get handled the same way twice.  Needless to say, the morale is not high and the general consensus is not to care.  This is unfortunate as I personally am not like this by nature... purely a survival mechanism in an environment like this.
I have worked for some good companies in my career, this is not one of them.

The entire culture of being continually extremely overloaded at Schaeffler is the norm.  If there are retirements or quitting employees, the expectation is for the existing people to pick up the slack with little to no effort to hiring a replacement.  There is also no proper remuneration for this additional work.  This ties in with the continual reminder that OT is minimized, despite desperately being needed.  Toxic to be quite honest.

The culture of communication to employees if fundamentally flawed and despite feedback and shortfalls of such, as senior management fails to see the issue, nor make drastically needed changes.

Schaeffler appears to be good up front and a great place to work, but fails miserably once in the doors.

The new and present senior management team is a drastic and poor shift from the previous one [retired].  This is very evident in the day to day activities and frustrations from a large amount of currently employees.

Working on the assembly line included a set schedule of work, repeating every day. Although it was a routine work the attention to details and change overs to different part numbers made the day challenging. I learned the basics of bearing production, especially transmission bearings. Our management was always interested in reaching our production goals and in keeping work interesting. In personal matters management always supported and understood their employees. I worked in a very multicultural team consisting of people from Asia, South America, Europe and North America. We understood our differences and worked in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The most enjoyable part of the assembly line work was when everything ran smooth and we could reach our daily production goal. It was tough when we didn't have enough components and had to either slow the line down or fill the time with cleaning.

You will stand at your station while your machine does all the work, you will not talk, sit, read, or otherwise occupy your mind, you will be penitent for not less than 8 hours. 

You will learn quickly that any attempts to be useful to the company or to others, or to otherwise go beyond the very specific thing you have been told to do, is grounds for punishment and dismissal. You will live in perpetual fear of this dismissal as your personal life deteriorates around you.

You will be blindly obedient to and unquestioning of your immediate leader, who is less educated than you, or you will be placed on an off-shift and prevented from seeing your friends or family. You will have the minimum required vacation days by law, and 90% of them will be scheduled without your consent. You will be mandated for overtime, short and double shifted to achieve it, and punished if you can not comply.

The enjoyable part is that you will still have energy when you leave at the end of your 8 hour sentence every day.

Top heavy on management trying to look busy. Overtime is mandatory and is almost every weekend. Corners cut on quality constantly and when found and quaratined by quality assurance they are pushed to the customer by management....remember these are airplane parts and the automotive division is no better. Some area leaders run thier department horribly and it is ignored by human resources totally. Two tier wage system. Most senior employees are disgusted and retire early due to the overtime never ending. Co-pay benefits are very costly and management is constantly shuffled. I have worked for this company for 20 years and it gets worse every year. Hopefully there is another union drive soon....it is the only hope for such a poorly run company.

Schaeffler is a company that prides on the quality and dependability of their product.  The value of the long tenured employees remaining in the business speaks to how all levels of the factory share the same beliefs.  The management and culture in the building are ever evolving to meet the needs of a fast changing climate around them and has come a far way in the the past 10 years.  A regular day adds the technical challenges in all job positions.  Both facilities in Stratford are extremely clean manufacturing environments.
Overall Schaeffler provides for the workforce with well paying jobs, good benefits, a good atmosphere for hardworking, dedicated individuals who want to be challenged, learn and excel within their position.

Typical day consisted of reviewing with previous shift operator production running on machine, checking for upcoming work, running CNC machine and/or set up.  In process quality inspections. Operating multiple machines.

As a co-op student I had prior knowledge of machining theory as well as manual machining experience, but no CNC experience.  The opportunity at Schaeffler allowed me to significantly expand my knowledge and abilities and put my education to practice.  All the employees I worked with were very helpful in training me, and sharing their expertise to help me succeed.  I felt like a part of the team.


I collected production paper every day and the entered the data into various reports. I learned many thing from working here for the last 25 years. I worked in various departments and enjoyed most of them.  I worked very well with all levels of management.  I helped out everybody. The hardest part of my job was after taking a day off coming back and catching up as nobody filled in for me when I was absent. I enjoyed every part of job but helping others was always my favorite part.

The automotive division makes up rules on the go. Jobs are posted is only a suggestion, very deflating to employees. As they say, a bad leader will drive good employees to other jobs. This should be company quaity statement. 
They have leaders that are ok with unsafe work areas, this generally is from children leaders that have no clue what safety looks like.
Think twice about working in a building where you are nothing but a number.
This will continue so if you like kissing butt, where safety comes after productivity, the Schaeffler Automotive is for you.
