I'd have to say the most satisfying thing about my job is definitely making a difference in people's lives.

I'm in charge of several projects. I look after their needs and any of their requirements in terms of banking.

These clients are considered the higher net-worth clients. I deal with all aspects of their life using the four cornerstones of Scotiabank. So I'm looking at their investments, I'm looking at their credit, their day-to-day banking, and their insurance needs. Making sure these are all met and looking for opportunities to essentially improve their life and make them financially better off.

For the most part, job depends on the team you work for. Personally, I work for a great team and very happy with almost everything. I have quite flexible hours, very understanding and inspiring boss. Pay usually includes salary (which is decent) and the bonus (percentage of the team's net production). Recently, there are certain changes in the industry and within the bank that made position less attractive. People at the back office were laid off, so their tasks now have to be performed by associates for the most part.

Covering days off and assisting with various projects

Although I was only there for a short contract, I was exposed to new 
applications and got to work with a variety of different clientele.

Management was in transition (one Branch Manager left and a new one hired), but were supportive and appreciative.

I like being busy and so the hardest part of the job were the down times between projects. My favourite part of the job was supporting others, and learning new computer applications.

Working with a group of professionals on a daily basis and interacting and collaborating with them as part of a Team based Wealth Management Approach. Workplace culture is exceptional,  I control and manage my own daily workload to accomplish personal, group and company goals.

Worst company ever in my 30 years career.  Terrible benefits and compensations.  No career path, lots of DIRTY politics.  The organization is very backward, full of incompetence and bureaucracy.  I have worked for many large companies over the years, and the nepotism there was the worst I had ever seen hands down.  In short, it is a SWEATSHOP.  AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!

Other departments were amazing, made me want to work for them instead of my department.  Lack of support, training or communication.  They rely on revolving door staff, staffing agency's, or students.

People are great. Management is bad and not on your side. Systems and processes are very lacking and causes simple tasks to take twice as long. There is a form to fill out for everything and it is sent to head office, very little can be done yourself at branch level.

Scotia Senior Associate is a busy role with a demanding matured Wealth Advisor.  Work can be completed different with different Wealth Advisor.  Payment varies depending very much on the Wealth Advisor's incentive.

Was a fun work place, but certain people in management made it rather difficult to see my position there as something long term. However, all of the associates who work out of the Waterloo Wealth Management branch are amazing.

Fast paced and competitive atmosphere. Still enjoyable because if you are at the Toronto head office you are working with the best-of-the-best but definitely only for a type A personality
