It’s a great job for people who enjoy retail settings and physically demanding labour, the people I worked with were really great and the manager was chill. The only cons of this job is the low pay and short contract term; they want you to promote sales and actively engage customers in order to make sales, and boast about meeting sale targets, but you don’t make any commission off those sales. Another thing is even if you have lots of experience as a merchandiser, they still start you at the base pay; so they don’t have competitive wages based on experience. The contract term runs very short for a seasonal job, about 3-4 months, early April to end of June. Other than that, I think it’s a solid place to work.

Good online and in-store training, friendly coworkers and store staff. Pay is respectable for the low barrier to entry. Biggest downside would be lack of room for growth and advancement. Management is rarely in store with you and communication of what/how tasks should be done could be improved. You are often in store with too much of one product and not enough of another, unsure what promotional materials are where, don't know who/where the manager is, store staff not cooperating. It can be something of a difficult yet rewarding jigsaw puzzle, however for a lower paid labor intensive job, it should either require less thinking or pay more.

Good money, good crew of people.. it is a dirty job endless amount of shoveling and sweeping. Could be a very enjoyable job but you a led by a bafoon and upper management chooses to put their money into meaningless (I.e  multiple 80" tvs for the office) rather then fixing maintenance issues that have been issues forever, or the huge potholes the forklift operators constantly have to endure. They are a million dollar company that does anything to save a  dime. The big production number at the end of the month means more then then the quality of their products and the workers and maintenance associates are left on the floor to suffer and struggle while they kick back and pilot office chairs

If you like working alone and being given the freedom to decide how you want each store to look then this is the job for you. While working here I was given 6 stores to look after during the week and it was great to always be in a different environment and around different staff. Management is always working with you and making sure that you have everything you need to complete the job. Would highly recommend the merchandiser position if you are looking for a summer job that pays fairly well and like working alone.

They provide lots of training and make it easy to understand both the products and what is expected of you. I really like how they provide a weekly updated list of priorities and major things upcoming. They have very easy to understand instructions on building store displays. The job has a creative aspect in choosing where and how to merchandise certain off shelf products to best show them off. The customer service aspect of helping people in choosing products and answering questions about them is a large portion of the job on many days.

Not finding stock, stores move stuff around. Changing set up and stock options.

Merchandising is all i did. Only met with the supervisor. Was promised to meet supervisors boss on 2 ocassions. But never did.

Stock shelves, put out stock, clean bags, consolidate items. Make sure prices are on. Bays.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Walk the store making notes of projects, down load items, clean and talk with staff and customers about problems and solutions

Show up to first store, bring down stock for shelves, assemble POP displays place in traffic areas and stock and price. Continue same at next few stores. Great co-workers always ready to help. Hardest part of job getting through traffic going from store to store. It's enjoyable to see you finished displays stocked,priced, and working.

I loved working for Scotts, the only downfall was that another vendor was vandilizing my displays and moving my product, basically sabotaging my work, and nothing was done. Everyone knew who was doing it and she got away with it because my boss didn't want to create any problems, in the store that the product was in.

I enjoyed this job very much. It was totally different from most jobs I've held in the past. It required a lot of independent decision-making and creativity, as well as efficient time-management. I had to budget my time wisely and perform my daily duties efficiently. No micro-management here.

Plenty of variety. Met a lot of new people and maintained good relationship with staff at all stores.
