I was signed to work for Scrubbi as a private contractor to perform residential cleans. From June to August, I worked for them. First beige flag, you aren’t treated as an employee. I gave them a full-time availability of Monday through Friday. The contract was pretty standard; you’re on call up until 1:00pm on days you aren’t scheduled and your schedule can change last minute so you pretty much need to always be by your phone to ensure you don’t miss a call. If you’re scheduled last minute, you can’t turn down the appointment, you ABSOLUTE have NO say in whether you can make it or not. If you’re scheduled and given that appointment, too bad, so sad. Now, of my two months working for this company, I performed 2 cleans in my first month. I was barely scheduled. Bear in mind, I’m an adult, I’ve got bills and responsibilities, how am I expected to be able to even afford rent on two appointments? During orientation, it was mentioned that Scrubbi would contact you after your first day, week, and month, to see how you’re performing and to check in with you, the contractor. Never heard from them once. In fact, their administration is entirely lacking at the foundation. I would spend hours trying to get a hold of their help team to sort out any issues I might have had. If you made it this far, it only continues to get worse from here on. It took a month before I started seeing more clients, and even then, it was hardly enough to sustain myself between expenses, travel, bills, etc. In my last month with them, I watched myself get scheduled the same client 4 times for the same day, only for them to schedule it, then cancel it, scheduled it again, and repeat, until it was Friday, almost 1pm, I had family visiting and they knew I might get called in. I held myself from spending time with them. I receive a call finally at 12:45pm, at a point I decided to shower, and it was to schedule me for that SAME CLIENT they continuously played the game of back and forth all week with. I wasn’t able to answer the phone, and that was a strike against me. 15 minutes to 1:00pm and you’re going to schedule me for the appointment you kept cancelling? Massive red flag, figure it out Scrubbi. You’d think this happened only once? It happened all month. The poor client, I feel so bad for her dealing with this dog s**t administration and company. On a similar note, 2 weeks notice for vacation, appointments, and change in availability is pretty standard and most companies would respect that right? Not Scrubbi. Doesn’t matter if they’ve known 2 weeks or more in advance for change in availability due to being hired for a new, and believe me, a much better job, and medical appointments, nope! I warned them of my change in availability, told them I’d give more details once I knew my schedule, and I’d also warned them of 4 medical appointments I needed for my new job. Scrubbi tried scheduling me multiple times on days where I was working. To give an example, one day I worked from 12:00pm - 8:00pm. I told them I could work from 9-11:45 approximately to give me a buffer to get to my shift. I was called at 9:30am for a 3 hour appointment. Factor in it would take me 15-30 minutes to get ready and make it to the appointment, that would mean a start time of 10:00am and a finishing time of 1:00pm. I started my new job at 12:00pm. I would be an hour late. Scrubbi didn’t care and got very disgruntled that I told them I would not be taking that shift and I put my foot down and exclaimed that I’d warned them weeks in advance of these changes. Yet another strike against me. Similarly, my medical appointment on the last Friday that I worked for them, I was to be at the public health building for 11:00am. Scrubbi scheduled me for a client at 10:00am, for a 3 and a half hour clean. Use your heads Scrubbi, how does that make any sense when you knew well in advance I had that appointment?! The kicker out of all this? That same Friday, I was terminated without cause and told I was “unreliable” and couldn’t fill the responsibilities of my contract. Pure BS.

These types of occurrences happened every single week working for this company. Realistically, for the hourly rate, it’s was not worth my time. This company doesn’t take kindly to people standing their ground. Search up the allegations; this company takes advantage of immigrants and those who are afraid to speak up for themselves. All the allegations are true.

So do yourselves all a favour and avoid this company like the plague. Don’t contract yourselves with them, and especially do not, and I repeat, DO NOT, work for this absolute dog s**t company. If you respect yourself as an individual, you won’t work for a s**t hole company like this and you’ll hire a private cleaner. You’ll save more money, build a better relationship with the cleaner, and your house will be treated much better.

When you work for Scrubbi as a cleaner youre not an employee, youre an "independent contractor". This means that you do not recieve benefits and there is no room for growth other than the $0.50 raise every 3 months (max you can make being $21/hr). The money you receive from Scrubbi is deposited untaxed and is labelled as an invoice. This seems optimal, but it is not. 
-Scrubbi does not pay for driving time (sometimes shifts are 30+ mins away/apart), gas, or any cleaning supplies. If you don't want to get screwed over during tax season you need to keep track of all your receipts and put aside a percentage of what you make on your own (as well as pay someone to do your taxes unless youre tax savvy). Additionally, even though Scrubbi charges clients more for move in/out cleans, contractors are payed the same rate and Scrubbi won't send another person to help the contractor if the house is particularly large or dirty. Side note: Move in/out cleans are a very deep clean that may include walls, an oven, inside cabinets, blinds/windows, and refrigerators. They are physically exhausting and you do not get any breaks. One may do 8-10 or more hours straight.
-Hours are not guaranteed (some weeks could be as low as 0 hours) and if you do over 40 hours a week (which will probably never happen) you would not be paid overtime. Plus, they expect that you to be on call until 1 (you are not paid to be on call, either) and can give you a minimum of 1 hour notice for a shift if they want. This means that if youre available all day Monday but have no shifts, they can send you a shift for 8am at 7am and fully expect you to be there. Additionally, they told me this after working with them for months, this was not outlined in the contract.
-You are *allowed* 2 sick days a MONTH (theyre unpaid sick days) and if you don't provide a doctors note you will have points taken off (if you get to a certain amount of points your contract is terminated). If you have to leave suddenly due to a family emergency or death you are required to provide proof (plane ticket, death certificate, etc) otherwise points are taken off. Keep in mind, all of this came months after signing the contract, it was not outlined. Also, because we're defined as 'contractors' and not 'employees' these rules do not make sense and shouldnt be applicable.
-You are liable for any damage that may occur in a clients home. Scrubbi doesnt require you to get insurance, but keep in mind that if you dont, and you break/damage something, you will be held responsible for footing the bill. 
-Scrubbi says that you get to keep your tips (which is true) but youre unlikely to be tipped. Ive had a few customers directly tell me that in the contract they signed with Scrubbi, Scrubbi states that the 'tip is included'. This is not true and means theyre taking possible income from contractors.
-All interactions with Scrubbi and its employees are done online or through the app. You will never meet someone face to face. This makes it easy for them to ignore any issues with you and -as I've seen from other reviews- not pay you for what you are owed.
-There is no training. If youre hired with a vague understanding on how to clean, you will have to figure it out yourself. However, you are supplied with a checklist for guidance.
-Customers rate each and every clean you do out of 5 stars. Yet you are not given any app or way to view your comments and ratings. Sometimes the people at Scrubbi do send you a review if it is exceptional, but you never *really* know where your rating is unless you ask constantly.

Your payment per hour is all depending on the client. Every job is rated out of 5 stars. The more stars = more money.
So, starting wage is $19 per hour which sounds great, but that's only if the client gives you 5 stars. 1 star is the lowest at $13 per hour and 5 stars is $19 per hour($23 after 6 months)  If they don't rate your work you get an automatic 3 stars from the company which equals $16 per hour!! So even if you bust your butt making the clients home spotless, if they don't rate your work you only get $16 per hour. That definitely did not motivate me in the least. 
My first job they gave me was OVER  my hours. I set my hours for a reason because I have another job to get to at a certain time. So, even though this massive house that I cleaned had 5 bathrooms( which all had bathtubs and showers, plus a huge jet tub) I only got paid $16 per hour because I was unable to finish what the client wanted. And honestly I do not blame the client for that, but I do blame the Scrubbi shift management. They knew my hours and yet sent me to a home that I could not possibly finish.  All they say is "its ok if you can't finish the job, just let us know".  In the end, you suffer your time and hard earned money because they don't have enough people to cover the shifts.  Setting you up for failure, especially if the client has high expectations. 
If you did not receive a job for the day, you are expected to be on call all day.  Most of my jobs were given to me last minute the morning of the job. 
I gave them my hours available and they would constantly give me jobs that would make me 30 plus minutes late!  And of course me being late does not look good to the client and that means a poor rating. Poor rating means less money. Doesn't seem fair at all!!
I have expressed my concerns to them and they don't care. They just say they expect you to service all the clients even if you're late (at no fault of your own.) 
More than half my clients always complained about how bad the previous cleaning person did and I would have to re-due what they missed. 
I would not recommend this job to anyone unless you can work a min of 6 plus hours at 4-5 days per week.  Otherwise you're breaking even with the amount of gas and cleaning supplies you have to buy.
Also, if something happens to you in someones home, accident, dog attacks you or the home owner is a creep, they will not be held responsible in anyway. You need to give them 2 weeks notice for any changes or you get punished for it.

I bought all of the cleaning supplies required, was eager and ready to start work. Worst company I've ever been hired by. Never worked a day or got to experience any shift whatsoever. The worst communication from a company 
I have ever been a part of. After orientation, I set my availability and a lot of other people were having trouble with the app, luckily I did not. Thereafter, I was subsequently expected to work which I was ready to. The shifts are added and cannot be changed. They gave me a shift, my finger hit the screen and accepted it. I immediately called and told them it was a mistake. They cancelled the shift, paused my account. When I got it reinstated, I accepted all of the shifts available. Then they cancelled all of the shifts, and for a month I went back and forth asking was I still working for Scrubbi. I was told they would have to have someone from Human Resources call me back, which they never did. I continued to call back and ask if I worked for the company as I told them that as well as the app not working properly for me to see and accept shifts. I would get text messages and voicemails saying I had a shift in 2 hours, and please accept it. Called back multiple times, multiple weeks after this kept occurring. Got through to someone and told them what has been happening. They promised someone would call me before the end of the day or next few days. Never happened. I spent $230 on supplies, to never use them. Worst company ever. Thought it would be an amazing job, but the incompetence I was shown was egregious. Would never work for Scrubbi, ever again!!!

I have been at Scrubbi for over 2 years now and I am finally getting a chance to write a review. When I first applied I thought I was only going to work for a few months because I needed some extra cash. So I started part time. I saw how seemless it is to work here and how rewarding the job is. I also noticed that I was getting paid fairly well. So I decided to quit my other part time job and work with Scrubbi full time. Best decision I ever made. I get great reviews and feedback. Scrubbi fills up my schedule and I end up making a lot of money. I make more here than I did as a personal trainer and an office assistant. Money aside, the company has great values. I've had the pleasure of speaking to many Scrubbi reps and each one has been friendly and willing to help in any way. They are a lot of fun! In my two years I really havent had any problems. If I have had an issue with a client they have been so understanding and have had my back. No other work place I have been at has supported me in this way. They go above on and beyond for their cleaning professionals and I can confidently say that as they have shown this to me. I have always been understood and paid on time. Recently the company went through a restructing of their payment system so my pay was one day late last month. I appreciated that they gave me the heads up and it never happened again. I've own my own business before and believe me, the kind of stuff you deal with is unimaginable sometimes. Scrubbi has been around for a long time and they seem to have their stuff together. I have been happy working here for 2 years and never plan on leaving!

This started out as a decent gig and was easy to get hired and seemed like it would be a good thing to do for a second job since you get to set your hours and it's basic cleaning. But it deteriorated fast. They don't train you at all or send you with another cleaner ever to learn the ropes. You have to maintain a score of 4.0 out of 5 but you can't see your own reviews that people leave. You do your best for people and clean super dirty places, sometimes even meet them in person and they will act friendly to your face, and they still leave you bad reviews that end up with you getting fired for no reason. You're on call all the time and they can give you an appointment up to an hour before and expect you to show up without even calling you, and the app is faulty and doesn't work half the time. The policy states that clients can't book or change an appointment 48 hours prior to, so there should be no reason that I am getting an appointment sent to me at 6am for 8am. Most of the clients wouldn't leave proper instructions to enter their house or apartment or would forget to leave the supplies out. 
A client told me they were charging her close to $60 an hour for a cleaning when we are getting paid $18 an hour and we're the ones doing all the labour. You have to purchase all your own supplies and they don't reimburse you for anything.  This company is taking most of the charge and then claiming that they are cheaper than other companies with better wages to their employees. The only good thing was setting your own hours. But you'll likely be fired for your hard work in the end.

I find cleaning fun. The environment is fun because you make it your own. I've cleaned for 400 homes with scrubbi. I've had the opportunity to meet a lot of different clients and each home is different. So I very much enjoyed that aspect. It's not the same boring job every day. Every day is different. It makes it fun. 
A typical day is getting up, starting your job at the time given. You clean the house and log in on the app. You check out on the app too. I usually get between -3 homes a day. Driving distances have not been a problem for me which I'm thankful for. I haven't driven more than 30mins for a job. A bonus is that you get to write off gas, mileage, cleaning supplies, background check, your phone bill and anything you can think of. I had never been a contractor before. This was my first time. After the first year I realized how easy it is and realized how much more I actually make compared to other jobs I've had. 

The staff here is extremely friendly. Always available to help. The pay is phenomenal. Never been happier.

And most importantly they appreciate the work I do. They acknowledge it. I even get calls from the care team telling me I'm doing a great job and ho they are happy to have me. It really makes you feel good. I haven't had that at a job in the past.

Currently working with Scrubbi, not a bad job but also not enough to support a household. You have to pay for your own gas and supplies, and dispatchers will send you across the city for 2 hour cleans. The help team is usually pretty good. Sometimes if you need something (like you’re late to a clean or cannot find the address) they will answer but there’s a handful of times you will need to leave a message and wait in your car for them to call you back. Instructions for whereabouts to homes are written by clients and not always have vital information therefore you take more time finding the address and you lose hours. Pay isn’t great but it’s not the worst, after all you can claim all your gas and supplies on your taxes. Scrubbi claims that you can make your own schedule which is true in some cases. You can set your weekly availability but cannot refuse jobs like a normal contractor would be able to. When you call in sick they require proof (doc note, medications etc). This practice is not correct as when you are working with Scrubbi you are a contractor therefore you can come and go as you please. Needless to say they treat you as their employee when you’re really a contractor. Like I said before, not a horrible job. It’s good when you need a flexible schedule or have other things going on in the week. 

So this was the first job I had in a while, being a single mother it was obviously a big change for me and I made sure to explain that to them, yet ended up getting fired after 2 weeks. Going years without working, to working full time is a big change, majority of my appointments I extended the time so I could do my absolute best so the customer is always satisfied, I was really starting to adjust, after they emailed me letting me know I was no longer going to be working with them anymore I expressed that I loved the job and was really getting the hang of it all and stressed to them that I would be my best self and do better, tried to redeem myself, took them a while to answer me and while they weren’t answering me they cancelled all my jobs and logged me out of the app. I was also supposed to be paid over a week ago and still nothing, was told their systems were down, same copy and paste message would be sent whenever they decided to actually respond back they just don’t seem to care about paying me for the time I worked my only other option is to contact the labour board. This was definitely a lesson to look into these places before I take the job because this is just wrong, if you’re thinking about taking this job I’d say explore other options you may have!
