As a smaller company, I feel we get out what we put into our careers here. Open communication with management has resulted in many employees moving laterally to better suited departments that benefit from individual skill sets. I have always asked for what I wanted and feel not only heard but appreciated. My experience has always been that everyone here has the same opportunities and that I am not aware of anyone unjustly dismissed. There is a great deal of personality here, which is refreshing to see and it makes the work environment enjoyable. The people I work closest to are doing a great job of supporting each other to get projects done and make it a pleasure to come into work each day. If you're looking for a job that challenges you to grow and push yourself to learn, this might be a very welcoming place for you. I hope to be able to contribute to our success until retirement.

Busy working hours but probably common for the industry 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great supportive leadership. Respectful and professional 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Meet at 7:30am  with project management team go over the day and projects. Go to the job site. Review safety topics and complete safety reports. Preform daily work duties.

Good company to work for. They recognize effort and respond accordingly. "You get back as much as you put in". 
Like all companies there are ups and downs but the management is definitely moving in a positive direction and making good desicions about the future direction. Managers are easy to approach and talk to and is supportive of the crews. 
The crews are informed and have the materials/training to succeed in the task at hand. I would recommend working here for sure.

Travel and driving is regular. 
Benefits aren't the greatest but there is a package.
Some of the guys think they know it all and that can be annoying yet all employees are good people. 
Fun Christmas parties, lots of gifts.
Opportunities to move up the company. 
Job consists mostly the installations of structured cable networks with cat5, cat6 etc. That is if you want to do data. 
There is lots of electrical work there too.

Management was quite disorganized/inefficient & seemed understaffed for how much they take on. Resulted in a lot of downtime and last minute notice, even for out of town work. Pace & scope of work varied a lot from job to job. Wouldn't be a good fit for someone seeking a predictable workplace. Upside is apprentices can gain a wide variety of experience within the telecom sector. Usually a lot of one on one time to learn from journeymen.

know your worth and pay attention to your pay stubs. o.t is payed at reg hrs
lots of family talk but just that only talk to keep you interested. 

 Management is all over the place with no real answers, lots of bus driving by guys to increase there stock.  On the SHAW side take notes and get trained by an actual SHAW senior it will benefit you greatly and will learn the job properly. once you learn proper coding and have the drive you can earn above average salary, long days but that's the job

 

Very poor managment and organization on the electrical side of this company. Don't know anything about the telecomm aspect. 

Was hired for a job at the hospital, was about 6 weeks of work. And then I couldn't get ahold of a project manager about new work. They just let me sit without pay or info because they are so disorganized. 

Very unproffesional or considerate. Real piece of garbage Company.

If your options ate work there for them or remain on EI. 100% KEEP LOOKING FOR OTHER WORK!
Management does not care about you they will lay you off even of you're  a top performer.  
It's clicky and if your not part of the click your just there to work and then be let go before any benefits would kick in.


One of the best telecommunication companies that I have worked for. Solid group of guys that work in the field as well, very easy to get along with. Loved everything except sitting at home when slowing down. Started great years ago, but has gone downhill ever since. Work life balance is great.

Poor management bids too low on projects, leading to losing money and workers being forced to work unpaid (hours banked as normal time and not 1.5x) overtime to try and complete jobs while keeping costs down. Underbidding resulted in layoffs to people not responsible for the problem.
The owner is great, but deserves better PMs.
