I absolutely loved the job. Its a great position. The general relationship with Upper Management was awesome, J & D are great to work for.
The only problem with working in this position is the other clerk, who basically doesn't let you do anything on your own, consistently makes you feel like you're making mistakes (even if you are doing the exact same thing in a different more time efficient way.) Just a tad condescending. 
Also, if upper management comes to ask a question, DO NOT ANSWER. LET HER... Seriously, you'll thank me later. 
I was hired through an agency, wouldve loved to have gone back!

Being a flat-top roofer is hard work, but the pay was very good.  There were times in the summer when we were asked to work 80+ hour weeks, but the exceptional amount of overtime usually made it worth it.  Working on weekends was always optional.  The job is very tough on the body. but we were unionized and had good benefits, etc.  Working in the winter was tough - usually we only got between 10 and 20 hours a week, and when we did work it was exceptionally cold.

    The pay is great, but the work schedule is nuts. You’re often working far from home, sometimes for months at a time, and sometimes not at all. And with the work culture they’ve built, you feel you’re only worth anything to whichever foreman you’re working for if you work 6-7 days a week, minimum 10 hours a day. It’s a very dog-eat-dog kind of job, very dirty, and life consuming. 

    But otherwise, the management is professional and friendly. They do their best to keep everyone busy and well-paid.  

Experiences vary depending on where you work within the company. For roofing, it's long, hard work under the sun.
Work starts early and can be up to 12hrs long.
Some jobs can be easier than others depending on what's needed.
Depending on the size of the roof you work on, you may get to ride the wheelbarrow ATVs.

I begin my typical day at 6am and finish at 5pm. The management team is highly professional, and my crew members and Foreman are both hardworking and enjoyable to work with. Without a doubt, this is the greatest Roofing company I have ever been employed with.

A cohesive work environment where employees work together to achieve the goals and objectives of the company. 

Employees are not afraid to share their knowledge because we know that the more we know about the roles we each play, the more support we can offer each other

this is a good company but not secure work for long periods of time. good wages, unionized but some foremans treat you terrible.. very rude and disrespectable. didnt get taught anything you learn yourself. super labour intensive

If you get a job here, you will want to stay for life. This is a great company to work for, and they treat their employees well. 
Only downside is location, if you are a younger employee who can't afford to live in the GTA the commute is long. 

if you love working outside while earning a great wage this is a great position for you. its hard work and safety relates to the effort you put on it. the main concern with this position is the fact that it is dependent on weather conditions.

Semple Gooder roofing is a very high labour job it requires you to have lots of physical capabilities. The hours can be somewhat sporadic you start at 6:30 am everyday but you could be working until 2 pm all the way to 9 pm.
