Sentinel Security Plus

Many offers of assistance and advancement but programs are not free nor is standard training. Even with the training courses offered at great personal expense there is little to no opportunity for positions related to the training and no room for advancement regardless of previous experience or skills. There is no benefits as contractually offered. No compensation for arriving 15 minutes prior to shift start. Much of what is offered is just a money grab for the management and their associates and will give you no real advantage in moving on to a policing career any more than any other security company. The pay is the only redeeming quality being slightly above industry standard, which is pathetic throughout the security industry compared to what is expected of security operatives.

The company has great marketing and well established policies but they are all aimed at the company's own benefit. The company works on some already established sites but does not seek the least amount of support for its employees at the sites; an example is providing an umbrella or disposable poncho for exposed positions they leave you in the rain the entire shift and still prohibit you from using protection that is not black matching the uniform and you have to buy it if you want. They offer a better hourly payment than most, but when you realize it's because all the jobs are in Downtown with parking spaces over $20 and expensive food inside the events. I like to bring my own food but they provide you in some places only 20min break that doesn't give you the possibility to eat your food just to buy something quick because usually there is no no place for break in some of the sites.

Management constantly 'embellished' (aka lied) about things like getting benefits (they apparently had been saying for 3+ years that they were getting benefits 'soon').  Definitely play favourites and mind games to keep employees in the dark.  Little to no communication to the front line yet expect people to be able to cover shifts at the drop of a hat.  They are wannabes who think they are elite but are really just scheisters.

human resources type company, but more concerned about their bottom line rather than keeping employees around.  Penny pinching on training, not having enough people to cover shifts if someone is ill or has an emergency - maybe not many people looking for work, but the front line has to do all the heavy lifting.  Lot of transferable skills when a concierge, but feel like you are taken advantage of.  Salary is better than minimum wage, but not consistent between staff doing the same job.

This company offers a generally stable work environment as long as you stay under the radar, but any minor incident, regardless of fault, results in zero support from management. They won’t fire you outright, but you’ll find yourself sidelined and marginalized, which creates a toxic atmosphere where your contributions and tenure seem to count for nothing. If you ever face an issue, you’ll quickly realize that the company won’t have your back, and the long-term loyalty you’ve shown won’t matter. Eventually, you'll likely feel forced to leave on your own.

You will be hired for bouncing work. Your job is to wear a red tie and stand for hours without proper breaks. You will be dealing with intoxicated people and other security guards who think their poopoo doesn't stink. After a few shifts you will get the idea that this company only thrives during TIFF.  Then it fizzles away to late night bouncing. Good luck. Might be for you. Wasn't for me.

Been with Sentinel now for 3 years . This is a great company to be part of . Great pay. Not all locations are so great to work at but pay is the same all round. Worked with 4 other security companies and this has been with the best . I plan on retiring with this company. I know for a fact their is no other security provider that comes close to them.
