The only downside about this position is the customers you encounter. Some of them can be extremely rude if their request can not be completed. After one or two encounters you start to become numb to it.
Although you’re alone at your counter, you could always approach your colleagues for assistance. I didn’t expect it to be such a collaborative environment and is highly encouraged within the team. 
It is a fast-paced environment. From noon to closing there is a consistent flow of customers coming in. It does give each team member pressure and stress to work quickly and efficiently but it makes the day go by quickly. Also, every day is not the same. Customers would come in for different reasons. It forces you as a representative to be knowledgeable about all the services provided by SerivceOntario. Management does a great job preparing you. They provide numerous training modules to ensure you’re an effective employee. 

Typical day at Service Ontario is essentially sitting from beginning to end of your shift, serving customers in line.  Around 10:30am we have someone do a coffee run for everyone.  My co-workers are amazing - super friendly and helpful whenever you need them.  The hardest part of my job is also the most enjoyable part of the my job which is working with the public.  Some customers are very enjoyable to help and are a pleasure to serve while other customers require tolerance and patience to complete their required service/transaction.  My supervisor and my employer are incredibly supportive, friendly and compassionate.  Over the years, working at Service Ontario has given me the experience to heighten my level of tolerance and patience when working with others.

It's good for second job, you can't survive on it specially if you are solo provider, it's not government job as most people think, it's a third party government office contracted, your salary comes from the owner of the office not the government, the most paying salary at these offices won't exceed $19 and that's if your boss is supper generous, some people are still getting minimum wages there,  and yet you get those super smart customers telling you my tax dollar is paying your salary. Fun at times, stressful and frustrating other times, depands on the day and the people you are working with.

Extremely hostile environment at times from public, customers often don’t understand that the rules aren’t set by the person at the counter. You’re the face that they see so you are the one that gets screamed at. If you take things like this home, or take it personally this is not the job for you. Thick skin & stern attitude is definitely a requirement. I found mostly if you are kind & courteous people will reflect the same respect. But some people are just rude for no reason. 
There is usually backup from your support team but certainly a few bad apples aren’t avoidable. 

It was ok! It's stable hours and my favorite part was meeting and interacting with so many wonderful customers throughout the year. 

Unfortunately, if you did have a lunch is was quick and the pay with the private franchise is not a livable wage. And sadly no benefits or pensions at all so little to no advance. 

I'd say it's good temporarily and a great opportunity for experience.

You have a lot of responsibility and liability and start just over minimum wage. 

A pro is meeting so many people from all over. 

You do have the opportunity to learn a lot but no incentive to grow privately.

Working for Service Ontario was a good experience for me. I learned a lot about the different tasks that ministries of the province are Ontario are responsible for. Overall, it was a positive experience.

Was a valuable experience in that I advanced within the company from a clerk to a manager.

Most enjoyable part of my job was interacting with clients. I am very much a people person and I feel completely at ease serving the general public.

Enjoyed my time working here. Customers are sometimes difficult. Must be very patient. The management here is very accommodating and thorough with their traning. 

Privately owned offices. Each of them is different so it just depends what office you work at and who the owner is. If you’re able to get into the government office then the pay and benefits are much better.
