Seva Food Bank

Seva Food Bank is an incredible organization, and their volunteers are treated with the utmost respect. Volunteering arrangements were fair, flexible and relaxed. During our volunteering shifts, you could be working at the small call centre, loading donations into vehicles for distribution, or working in the storage area. They also had clean up crew positions, spokespersons and many more. The supervisors were respectful and very dedicated. There were stresses here and there, especially at busy times such as holidays, but otherwise, it was very relaxed. I really enjoyed being in the company of people who had a goal in mind, and that goal was to be of "service to others", hence the name 'seva' (translation*). 

I would reccomned this organization for new high school volunteers, no doubt!

A typical day involves sorting and packing food donations, helping clients, and assisting with community programs. I learned about teamwork, time management, food handling safety, and community service. Management is supportive and provides clear guidance. The workplace culture is inclusive, friendly, and focused on helping the community. The hardest part of the job is managing busy days with many clients. The most enjoyable part is interacting with volunteers and community members and making a positive impact.

Each shift provides me with self gratification and a sense of self worth. Knowing that the simplest of tasks will bring families closer to being fed nutritiously always gives me a drive to put out more effort into my duties. There are many in need and each day this is proven by the many families we serve and the different cases that we come across. I know I make a difference everyday, the thanks we receive is just the cherry on top.

I have volunteered at this organization for over a year and it continues to be a rewarding experience. Staff and management are supportive, respectful and professional in their interactions. I love this organization and it’s contribution to food stability in the communities we serve.

I would wake up early and start preparing boxes to put the food donations into. There was a lot of diversity and help being placed in this company as the main goal of this company was to help organize food donations for a good cause. I worked with quite a few people who were complicated but I faced the challenges and still worked at my best.

Seva Food Bank was a great work environment. Showed me a lot of teamwork, organization, independent work and management.

Sega Food Bank help people get food and give people a certain amount of food per family. Walk people around unload their groceries help them bring it out.

I have gained and developed many skills from my volunteer postion at Seva Food Bank, such as communication and people skills. From my experience, I have developed more confidence when speaking to others, since I always have to interct with customers.

This is a non governmental organization which helps provide those in need with food, etc. It was a pleasure working there with intelligent, polite people.

I used to volunteer at sea food bank. I helped low income families that did not have enough money to buy food, get food for their families. the most enjoyable part of the job was seeing the families faces when they knew that they would have food to feed their families.

the management is really nice and accepting. The staff and other volunteers are welcoming as well. I enjoyed talking and guiding the clients throughout the process. Its a good thing this organization is doing for the community
