A typical day at work for me was a very enthusiastic day. I used to walk in the doors of Shanahan's every morning with a smile on my face, greeting my co-workers while making my way to my machine. Working at Shanahan's, I have learned to work efficiently while being aware of my surroundings. I've also learned to persevere in my workplace as a worker under the union of Shanahan's. Furthermore, that teamwork is essential in an environment like this. Unless everyone doesn't do their part on time, the final piece will be nothing. Moving on to the management, they were very understanding and flexible. If there was an issue, they were able to help me with it. In return, I remained to be a loyal worker. My coworkers were also really respectful and friendly. I do not recall any hardships in particular, but I was able to cope and adjust to the adversities that I encountered. There were many enjoyable parts of my job. I loved going to work, looking forward to a new day everyday.

Executive team has minimal knowledge of the industry. Depending on what branch managers vary from mentors to aggressive. Reputation for terminating employees without cause within the LM (Surrey&Vancouver) locations. 
Private equity firm has recently carved out a lot of valued assets from the business, such as manufacturing of products and decreased stocking SKU products from other manufacturers.. resulting in longer lead times and late deliveries. 

I had the pleasure of overseeing the hollow metal door productiin team.  From the day I started, the support I received from all levels in the company and the acceptance from the production staff made my days extremely fulfilling.  The managers really let me spread my wings and utilize all my skills, never holding me back from my vision.  The wages were not the best but the perks of the culture, support and trust made up the difference. Production team absolutely outstanding and participated in creating a more lean, process driven environment.

Did not like working here, ran the cnc turret punch press, with little to no training at all. The gentlemen training me would not tell me anything about the product, where the drawing measurements were located, etc. etc. Coworkers seem to do as little as possible when managment is not around. Seen alot of un- safe acts. managment does not care about you, the pay is not great, overall this place is one of the worst shops ive worked in.

Worked there 15 years. Received 15 year certificate and told to choose a gift from there catalog of service. Two weeks after I received this recognition I was laid off because I asked for time off. The foreman who I asked went to management and made up a story I guess, because the manager came out and laid me off. No severance was received because of union contract.15 years meant nothing to them.

People are excellent and work hard.
Management was good but could work harder to get rid of silos. Advancement is always available if you desire.  Had to be very vocal in manager meetings.  Production is very fast past when the construction and schools were available.

I liked working there, however the location was awful for me. 
I was pretty bored as an estimator, and wanted to be in Project Coordination. However I feel that they are a little too family orientated in that aspect, because it's who you know to get into that position.
One coordinator was the niece of a manager.

Shanahan's provided a high pressure work environment, with limited room for career advancement.  There was limited cross training available, limiting career movement

The culture of this is how we do it here overrides any new improvement strategy. Workload is heavy cause of inefficiencies throughout the branch. I worked to improve warehouse for best customer service and was not recognized. A career door is not seen at all.

My days consisted of ordering construction supplies for projects, arranging insttallation if required and sceduling delivery as well as when to order materials for a project.
I loved the people I worked with. It was a friendly atmosphere.
