Spent 6 years at Shaw. Decent place to be if you are looking to build a resume but it’s not the place you want to build a career. They have archaic rules around pay raises for internal employees so when you get promoted you will be surrounded by external hires who make a lot more than you do for the same job. Management will dangle you on a string promising raises, etc and then when raise time hits it’s not even enough to keep up with inflation. Bonus structure for project coordination is a joke compared to other companies, base salary is 10-20 below what you’ll get paid anywhere else. The company also changes direction every year, so don’t get too comfortable with your role because in 10-12 months they will lay off another team and dump their work onto yours with no pay increase to reflect the increased workload. I can only recommend working here if you’re young and don’t have an expensive life, use the experience here to move on to a company with appropriate pay structures in a couple years.

They provide Free Coffee, and give your benefit on day one without probation period. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Customer care was not a priority—the focus was entirely on maximizing profit, even when it meant engaging in practices that felt ethically questionable.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
When I first joined, the company had a fantastic culture that made it a great place to work. However, after a change in management, that positive environment shifted significantly. The workplace began to feel exclusive and unwelcoming unless you had a close relationship with management, it was difficult to feel included or supported.

Working for Shaw Business is a high paced high target sales job. If you are a closer, this is the job you want. The co-workers in the office are fantastic and make the day to day very easy. The one downside to the job, is there isn't any job growth potential unless you are willing to move to Calgary. For that reason, it's a stagnant job if you are the type of person who would like to advance in your career. This job has also started to be very family unfriendly with forcing weekends onto their employees after about 10 years of Monday to Friday scheduling. So if you have a family, and enjoy having weekends off, this is not the career for you.

I worked monday to friday, 9am-5pm.
Some days were easy, some were very busy and stressful.
Management was very helpful and approachable, and would do their best to get what needed to be done for the frontline staff.
Developed a good rapport with clients and co-workers.
The hardest part of my job was dealing with frustrated clients (for example if a fibre cable had been cut, and an entire area was down for a full working day), which did get easier to deal with the longer I'd been there.
The most enjoyable part of my job was listening to how satisfied some people were when I could resolve their problems really fast (I had been called an angel several times).

I worked in the B to B role all through the pandemic. Though the people there are nice and management is very kind there is very little to no support for the role itself. The role is 100% prospecting and there are zero leads supplied. They over hire for every position so it is ultra competitive, only about 10 -20% of the sales team EVER achieve their target. The rest of the hires last about 6 months before they move on to something else. There is very little opportunity for a new person to ever be successful without any internal connections.

I enjoyed working at Shaw Business. I had the opportunity of working with really amazing people. The workplace culture is great. The leaders are accessible and everyone is treated with respect. I also liked the diversity and inclusion culture. It's a call center job, but your work does not stop at just taking the calls. You have to create cases for these calls and follow up to ensure that the customers' issues are totally resolved. 

a typical day is going into work to get yelled at by angry customers as they understaffed everything. every other day you get thrown into a new set of responsibilities because they realized they under staffed something else. you walk out of there feeling like a punching bag.  if I had a better gag reflex I'd probably have had better options in a emlty parking lot to pay my bills. 

Shaw is an amazing company to work for. The amount of growth opportunities available in the organization is limitless. Whether it be through career advancement or just personal development, you will never be bored. You have the ability to create whatever future you desire with this organization. 

The senior leadership is well suited to take this company well into the future and succeed. 

The people at Shaw are it's biggest asset, and the relationships built there last forever.

Work starts at 8:30 AM and I finish my shift at 5:00 PM. We have one hour lunch (30 minutes paid, 30 minutes unpaid) and 2 paid 15 minute breaks. The desks are comfortable, ergonomic and the work environment is awesome. High tear management individuals are approachable when they are around.

Very busy environment with a lot of task. Work under pressure and attention to detail. Versatile position.

There are room for improvement. Culture between peers is great. Company culture falls of quickly due to lack of feedback or communication process. 

Company should focus on fixing management infrastructure and training before next product launch.
