- My typical day at work is to uproot weeds and dead plants, relocate larger plants to more spacious areas, and to mulch the gardens. 

- I have learned ways to help me perform garden duties efficiently, the identification of different plants, and the working environment as a laborer.

- Management was good; everything worked accordingly.

- Friendly workplace culture; residents and staff (nurses and PSWs) appreciate the work I do.

- Hardest part of the job to work on days with various temperatures. Every part of the job generates growing physical stress.

- Most enjoyable part of the job is to see residents and staff giving positive feedback, and appreciation to the improved looks of the garden.

It's a good place to start out if you want to gain some general work experience but in the long run, it starts to give off a feeling of dread and "dead-end job" vibes. For the most part, it is a fast-paced environment with a few slow days.

Some of the elderly members you serve are very kind and heartwarming but to balance it out, you also have stubborn and rude ones. Same can be pretty much said about the co-workers. Not recommended to join if you can't tolerate them.

Despite what they'll tell you, the work hours are not flexible. You could work everyday and all of a sudden, it's a problem if you need to take even one day off even if you notify them in advance.

I was happy to have been given independence on the job even as a summer student. I had mentors when needed and even the CEO is super approachable, meanwhile I also was given free reign over some programs to help me explore and build my skills. HR was ready to give me extra safety training when I felt like I needed it. This job really fueled my passion for helping the elderly and I plan on returning as a volunteer when my summer contract is over. 

It’s rewarding place to work and growing if you have the qualifications. They usually hire the people who they have for interns. However, one negative effect I observed with the new staffs I’m working with they don’t have any team players in their group. Because of that the work is suffering. 

Working in a Long term care with other health professionals   needs to work in a   team environment in order to have a good outcome of an excellent  implementation of  health care. 

I learned a lot in this job, it needs to be organized in my work and needs also to prioritize. 
The hardest part of the job when there are staff who call in, as a result of under staffing.
The most enjoyable part of the job when other health worker are very cooperative and very enthusiastic to work with.

Working here was a happy surprise for me. The management is incredible, everyone works together in a great environment and the residents provide great entertainment! It's never a dull moment here, I've made great friends and was sad to leave my position here as I had to relocate. 

Great experience. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a job where coming into work is a joy!

I would recommended shepherd village due to the fact that it is not a bad place to work, they however, management some what care about the employee, at the end of each year they would put on a party for the staff, give presents and appreciation, a gym, swimming pool for everyone to participate in of course we have to pay a discounted price.

I feel good after work because i help residence fullfill their complete day staying at shepherd. I learned how to calm the residence if residence are aggregated. Management always support  all staffs . Hardest part of the job is residence very  risky . The enjoyable for this PSW job is when you always have a good team at work it would be easy job and you don't feel tired  working because we helping each other.

I am going home every time when I have to work at SV; I am there for 19 years, and I think that is an usual especially you love your job. yes, I do love my job and my seniors. They can make your day to be very enjoyabal; contrary, they can make you very frustruited; but since I understand their health state it will not take too long to forget about the frustriation.

I had a wonderful learning experience at Shepherd Village. The staff are caring, professional, and dedicated to providing quality support and services. The environment is welcoming, and residents are treated with dignity and respect. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a compassionate community.
