Almost like a school-based environment, you generally have 2 learners a day + either lunch duty or recess duty. There are lots of opportunities to receive feedback through a grade-scale - this can be great if you take on feedback as a learning opportunity. It may seem like you are pressured initially as there are high expectations from the Supervising Therapist. You are consistently watched with learners and randomly given feedback. May become an uncomfortable environment if you are not performing well according to the ST. The learners are great! While you are expected to be able to perform the basics of ABA, there are higher expectations for you to be creative and present a variety of activities for learners as well as keeping up with your primary duties. Lots of flexibility required with learners - if they are fully staffed, you will have training opportunities, if they only have enough staff, be prepared to work with any learner. 

Working with Shining Through Center for Children with Autism has been a huge eye opening experience.

The staff are extremely empathetic and caring. They work hard to ensure each child receives one on one attention. They are completely obligated to the work they do and as a not for profit organization, they have come a long way over the years.

Very unprofessional.  The staff is extremely unapproachable and the supervisor is completely indifferent.  God forbid you know what you're doing than the people who have a higher title because the attitude will follow.  You are watched constantly and instead of addressing concerns with you, they gostraight to management.  Guess we're still in elementary school. If you enjoy being micromanage this is the place for you! Wish I could give zero stars for everything.

First few months were fun. After it all went downhill. Management was watching me and asking me to report every little thing I did during the day to them and I was the only one they did that to. Very uncomfortable. I was the only therapist having weekly check ins. Was terrible experience resulting in me quitting.  

Everyone has a great work ethic and supports each other. Supervisors are always available and willing to assist. They believe in always staying current with practices in the field and as such staff are always being trained.

Supervisor makes decisions based on her personal preference in employees rather than their qualifications. Pay is also SUPER low for the expectations.

I enjoyed my time at shining through! The training was detailed and allowed me to ask lots of questions regarding clients behaviour. The pay was ok to start for a job but as you gain credentials the pay does increase! 

Great coworkers, aloof management. No consideration of ITs. Great clients and families to work with. A few learning opportunities provided. Greater compensation needed. 

Management was not great while I was working there; the behavioural programming for some students could user improvement; colleagues and environment were great for the most part.

great sense of belonging and teamwork. Supervisors are very helpful and everyone is kind. Great chance to grow in the feild and learn a lot. get to work with amazing people.
