I have been working at SAC for many years and have seen it though its many changes.  I can say that it has been an overall great place to work.

With any organization there are its challenges but at the end of the day the company is employee focused and will support its employees work and life balance.  This is highlighted in the company's response to the recent pandemic.  

This is a 24/7/365 aluminum manufacturing business and with that comes additional challenges (longer hours, fast paced and during the summer is a hot environment on the production floor)  but if you are up to it and enjoy a challenge then this is the place to set roots.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It is going there to make a living.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The hours are drastically long and not suitable for someone with a G1 driver's license, communication is hard because of the loud sound from machines, was told to drive a forklift which requires a separate license which I don't have.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very noisy and very drastically long. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I have to work there for 12 hours. Also, it's the same in the nighttime and it messed up my sleep schedule.

Like others have already said, very unorganized, no communication, toxic culture, disgruntled employees, long hours on a continental shift in a hot environment.

As a Millwright, I answered more breakdown calls in a week than I did in a year at my previous jobs. Alot of these calls could be eliminated but no one seems to care, especially the ones paid to care.

The rotating shifts are tough if you have never done them before.  This place seems to operate by the seat of its pants, too much management that actually doesn't really manage much.  They preach safety but yet ignore the constant complaints of broken machinery then always try to blame the employees for anything that goes awry.

I am truly surprised this place has been around this long.

A typical day at signature aluminum, would be working in a warehouse for twelve hours, three or four days out of the week. Waking up at four AM in the morning to get to work for six AM, because our official work time would then begin at six-fifty AM. All day long we would make metal and package them, then we would put the bundles of metals we’ve packaged,  put it in a oven for the rest of the night

Company tries constantly to get away with treating the employees terribly and if there wasn't a union they would get away with a lot more than they already do. They spout all day long they care about worker safety but won't actually do anything untill someone gets hurt and the ministry forces them to make changes 

Was hired on after telling HR I was looking for a respectable workplace. The facility turned out being a dump. Fire extinguishers are none existent. Little to no training. You are left to figure out everything on your own. I asked to be transferred to another team who wasn’t rude and was shown the door. HR never even bothered to have a conversation with me. Avoid at all costs. 

Management is not transparent in relaying information to staff.  Everything is a big secret and then once presented to staff, management wonders why systems and procedures don't work.  I was very frustrated with amount of work expected to be done, while others in the department stood around chatting and not taking responsibility for work getting done.

Just a downright terrible place to work. Senior workers look down on new workers.....alway call them tier two newbie. If you like to be yelled at this is the place.  Supervisors play favourites.  12 hr shifts and the weakest union I have ever seen. Hope to be done here soon.

I worked a this company for over 37 yrs 1986-2024 it did my family great, the last 16 yrs was VERY challenging to work for,  as management changed office workers  many times , very  difficult for workers as management  to work 
together they had only one  thought ( our way) they didn't want to listen to what we had to say. I felt I was being pushed out.
