Signature Retirement Living

Working at Signature Leaving has been a challenging experience. The communication within the organization is severely lacking, leading to confusion and frustration among employees. The management seems disconnected from the day-to-day operations, making it difficult for teams to feel supported. The lack of clear career development opportunities and professional growth paths is disheartening. Additionally, the company culture feels stagnant, and there's a noticeable absence of employee morale-boosting initiatives. Overall, there's a sense of dissatisfaction among employees, and it's affecting the overall work environment.

I was hired for a new senior living retirement community and although receiving  excellent performance reviews and accolades was told a year 17 months into my role by a visiting Senior executive from Toronto to "CYA" (cover your a**).  And, although I meet all the performance objectives, put in extra hours and was successful by all appearances,  and became a community liaison without support from our Calgary team and minimal support from the Toronto team .  I released abruptly from this role with minimal severance.   

There is a severe communication disconnect from the Alberta Regional Manger to  the executive team in Toronto, and hopefully this has, or will be resolved.

I work at the Mississauga location for a few years and the environment is toxic!! Bad management, poor quality food, residents complain daily about their quality of life and how it is not being met on a daily basis. Bad management who does not care about the well-being of the staff and residents. Management is not encouraging to staff, they bad mouth each other and look down on employees because they are in a lower position. No communication between departments which results in poor quality of workmanship. This retirement home needs better management for a better working environment. This company have a high turn over and the owners never come around to see how the business is being run.

Signature is a unique company regarding the type of retirement living options for residents. It is a very sophisticated retirement community that caters to the elite clientele. However, in terms of management, it does not have a supportive and inclusive culture. The staff and managers at the Mississauga location constantly talk negatively about one another. There is no respect or kindness for one another. Too much gossip at this place, and one manager yells at the staff or puts the staff/team down to other team members or gossips at the front desk. 

If you are into false promises, misdirected guidance, absentee management , and generally a terrible place to work this place is for you. If the employees ran the place without MAnagement involved you would probably love working here . They tell you one thing and do the other. Unrealistic expectations and from the top down it is the blind leading the blind. Its too bad the Ownership doesnt keep an eye on their Management because the problem there is from the Chef right up to top Management. Turnover of employees is one to behold and training is literally - here you go good luck.

I have worked with Signature Retirement Living for almost 9 years and it has been the most rewarding and fulfilling work I've done. I was surprised to read the negative comments because we have a very supportive team and many of our staff have been here from the very beginning. The culture is positive and the organization takes pride in recognizing staff, investing in professional development for staff, promoting within and celebrating successes. We work hard to ensure our residents are happy, safe and cared for. 

A typical workday starts with a huddle for all managers and department representation. You share your plans and challenges for the day. The very able and cohesive management team at the community level. There is no inter-departmental rivalry or competetion rather they all compete as ateam against the competetion outside. The most enjoyable aspect is the trusting culture at the community.....everyone feels like a home and love to come to work every day.

I have been with Signature for almost 2 years, and the atmosphere where I work is great.  The support from head office is just a phone call away and they visit regularly.
At our location, most people help each other and everyone has the same goal, residents first.
We have gone through some changes, but they have always been to improve either the service, care or building.  I would recommend working here, just come speak to our residents or staff yourself.

This company does not support internal growth. Front line employees are often fired right before their probationary period ends. Upper management is off site, does not come to the property. Pay is very low compared to similar workplaces in the industry.

I really enjoyed my time here and was very happy in my position. Staff and managers made the work environment friendly and the management team value their employees and will help you out if you need support.
