Siloam Mission

(Full Time)
-I process donations made by donors, make thank you phone calls, print receipts for special situations, process Gift In Kind donations, sort, organize and open mail on a daily basis, entering proper donor information in our database, checking processed work for coworkers, making phone calls to ensure correct information and also listening to their feedback and making any changes for donors (re; amount of mail, receipts to be mailed, etc)

-Correct volunteers with the right administrative procedures with respect

Coworkers;
-Very friendly people, encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone,  have lots of patience, have taught me lots of office administrative skills, respectful.

Hardest part of job;
-Motivation when mail gets slow (ie; less processing, finding other things to do around the office)
-Dealing with upset donors

Enjoyable part of job;
-Work events; building relationships
-Learning new administrative skills
-Work changes day to day
-Working with coworkers & volunteers

Please don't get my review twisted. If you're there for the community members like I was,  it was an amazing place to work. But once new management took over the drop-in it seemed we were allowed to help the outside community members less and less and that broke me. Thats why I was there. Those folks (cm's) are what made going to work great!! As for the pay, it was good and you could get by but given some of the situations that happened we should have been paid more. When a serious/critical situation would happen there was very little if any support from management. 

I love working at Siloam Mission! You’re constantly building relationships with the community members and helping them in a way to make them feel the same as everyone else. Just by listening to their stories or having a small conversation with them is a way to bring hope into their lives that things will get better! All of the employees work well together by providing everyone with a fun and safe place to work. You constantly have opportunities to grow and improve! While there is the odd bad day, the many good days where you have the chance to meet new people and help them out is worth it!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great management team, supportive staff. A dream place for anyone who loves to service the community will love to work. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some clients could be violent but not as bad as people think. Great community members. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Beautiful work environment, great cultural diversity 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Supporting the community members and being available when help is needed.

Worked 8-4, Monday to Friday.
The best part of the job was working with the staff, volunteers and patrons.  The worst part of the job was the inside politics.  The staff were awesome and I was blessed to work with them.  I learned that I believe in and love to support charitable organizations but that it is often more difficult to work for the organizations than it would appear from the outside looking in.  

This organization was once a great place. Unfortunately, over the years the company has lost focus on the actual Mission and is now turning the place into a typical systems based, revolving door social services agency where care comes second to numbers. If you expect to find meaningful work in a Christian environment, you would be better off looking elsewhere. Even their statement of faith has gone from believing in the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) to gender neutral names in an effort to become appealing to everybody. 

A typical day at work in Siloam Mission is full of interesting experiences.
I believe that I have learnt so much about team work. 
Management in Siloam Mission is quite impressive what with the operation being divided into departments with each being properly managed.
Work Culture in Siloam Mission encourages hardwork , discipline and dedication.
The hardest part of the job is not losing concentration and focus during job performance.
The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing that your efforts are being appreciated.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best thing about working at Siloam mission was working with the community members there. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Getting back and forth to work from Selkirk to wpg 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone there were wonderful and wanting you to grow and succeed. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working with clients being to have the freedom to do what needed to be done for the clients.

What is the best part of working at the company?
 -Drop in area is one of my favorite part because of the community members.  
 -  There very friendly loving and caring. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It's outside area while cleaning it.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There very responsible to everyone. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Thanks giving  /  every child matters.

Poor staff training
Staff are left closing alone.
Staff are violant towards clients.
Confidentiality is not respected by management 
Dont apply if you have a disability you will be treated poorly.  
Staff are lazy and sleep on the job.
Food donations are plentyfull yet they ask for money youll rarely see juice or milk for patrons.
Staff degrade individuLs over walkie talkies.
Mental health patrons are turned away
