Silver Crystal Sports

Working for a cresting company was a great experience. Starting off in the factory, learning how to press the many different types of jerseys and use the machines was a fun opportunity. 

A typical day working for Silver Crystal would start with me coming into work at the Air Canada Centre. Depending on whether or not there was a sporting event the day of or even the day before, making sure that enough inventory and staff was available was the main responsibility of being manager. 

What I learned from working in this company is that 'Communication' is key. On many occasion's there was somehow a break in communication. Inventory requested/ordered in advance was often delayed, or not put through. This caused chaos and panic on all levels of management. Especially, on event nights. To help with counting inventory on a daily basis, I helped create a new organizing system,which made counting all the letters and numbers a little easier. I believe that the company still uses it today. 

My experience with staffing was sometimes challenging. My co-workers were great, but sometimes unreliable when it came to starting their shift on time or taking long lunches. Besides the tardiness, I always knew that if there was any event scheduled for the evenings, I would be able to go home and not worry about any slacking. I could come into work the next morning and everything would be done the right way.

The hardest part of the job was the limited work space. When we started the contract with the ACC, we only received a small floor space behind a partial wall. Shelving had to be built up high, requiring the use of either a stepping stool or 8' ladder. A secondary press location was eventually moved to the upper levels, but it made it almost harder to keep track of inventory, and also stay in communication with staff. 

The most enjoyable times working for Silver Crystal were during gaming events. Being able to watch the Leafs and Raptors practice before a game. Traveling to the states for the MLB All Star game, and NFL Draft. Seeing and meeting the players and some stars. What an awesome business trip.

Management is incompetent, 
You work long hours.
No appreciation
If you miss a day the pay rate will go up to 96 regular hours instead of 88 hours for the two weeks, therefore, limiting your overtime hour. 
The warehouse gets extremely hot during the summer months 
There is no proper ventilation and no air conditioning only for the front offices.

Very poorly managed.  Managers r full of fake attitudes and lying constantly. No respect for employees. Always gossiping in other language. Very annoying and irritating. Mannerless with close to no education. Always giggling with higher authorities and making jokes about employees.not hiring employees directly but with agencies so that they don't have to deal with the benefits. Paying very little and employees are always overwhelmed with work. Doesn't have any ac in production and people are forced to work in hot weather. AC is only for office people. (!)

Supervisors don’t care about your well being and will happily replace you with someone else fitting for the job. Just a my way or the highway attitude. During the busier seasons, it’s chaotic and unorganized. Great spring-summer job but after that, I don’t see the reason to stick around and set yourself up for failure.

A glorified sweat shop. Literally. 85 degrees, sitting next to the ac, because it is only cooling the office. Supervisors belittle employees. Least of my concerns, was the fact English was the third language spoken. Job instructions were given in Tagalog, then Spanish, and if they remembered I was there, then English. Otherwise a coworker would have to translate for me.

This Company is very productive, Supportive to crews, Responsible, Reliable and fun people to work with. They always reward people who achieve goals. Co-workers help each other and oversee day-to-day operations.

I had the pleasure of working under someone with great competency as everything was under control throughout my time there. It was a fun environment with cheerful colleagues.

and complete the rush jobs
friendly co- workers
no hard parts
enjoyable part of my day is to see the job of the day is finish

For short term it’s ok to work, for long term not a good place to work, supervisors don’t know what they are doing, salaries very cheap, if you know how to buttering then this is the place for you, 

You can learn so many things about all the sports like basketball, baseball, hockey and many more. Its more productive and creative people you can work with.
