At first I did not want to write a review but I want candidates to know what they are getting into. At first it was great and it was going great, I had a great team from different departments to work with. I created new processes which I got great feedbacks from managers and even new hires. Everyone loved how I helped out and got things done with always a smile on my face because that is who I am. I even worked and helped in departments which was not in my job description but I did it because that is what a team players does, helps out. The concerns that I brought forward to my manager were not looked into but brushed off with excuses and there was a time when it was not even taken into account; they say they want to make a change when it comes to culture of the company but excuses are made in order to hinder that progress. Culture change doesn't happen over night, you have to take small steps everyday to achieve that goal but all I got was excuses and blame. They expect the staff to accept and abide by the new culture and values but they lack the understanding of leading by example. You will get to have some great leaders to work under and get mentorship with some great team members if you are lucky but some blame the whole team for their lack of leadership and communication like mine. Without any reason they let me go and they made it so hush hush as if I did something wrong. That morning I felt so hurt as how they treated me, when I did everything that asked me to do with my best foot forward to do my job and help out in whichever way I could. When asked as to why I was being let go, I was only told the decision was made but they did not have any issues discussing it with other staff after the fact; so much for confidentiality (to make them not look guilty). So always have to make sure you have your a** is covered and have confirmation if you have your holidays, days off, schedule approval so that they do not blame you for days off THEY approved you for and find an excuse to let you go. I was so disappointed with this company on their actions (never judge a book by its cover). IF YOU CANNOT DELEGATE, CANNOT COMMUNICATE, CANNOT SOLVE TEAM MEMBER CONCERNS AND PROBLEMS, CANNOT LISTEN, CANNOT MANAGE YOUR TIME, THEN I AM SORRY YOU ARE NOT A GOOD LEADER AND SHOULD NOT BE IN THAT ROLE. KNOWING AND PRETENDING TO KNOW ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. And this is what Sinclair lacks, good leadership. I wish all the new hires the best and hope this company plays less politics and does less power play moves. 

Unfortunately in order to provide a review 1 star is mandatory, as 0 stars would be appropriate. I worked at Sinclair diligently and performance feedback from my immediate supervisor was very, very positive. This did not stop the Supply Chain Manager and H.R. Manager from behaving inappropriately. The Supply Chain Manager would involve himself in warehouse operations despite his lack of knowledge. He would give instructions to be followed (that he would be told will not work) and would fly into a rage when it failed. Worse, is the fact that he would blame others and not take responsibility. Any attempt to deal with this ongoing abusive issue with Human Resources was pointless. The H.R. Manager is just as much a BULLY and eager to belittle the staff. These individuals are all "NEW" to Sinclair and are slowly destroying it from within. One needs only follow the job postings to see that the turnover is excessive due to theses 2 individuals allowed to run amok. Horrible upper management means nothing will every change. My advice avoid this place at all costs!!!!!!!!!!

I worked as the Customer Experience Representative for Sinclair Supply. Quickly, I was given amazing opportunities for growth and development and was able to collaborate with management on creating a new role that benefited both me, and the company. I was given ample opportunity for further education through NAIT to develop my graphic design skills, more than fair compensation, and when I needed to move down to a part time employee, management collaborated with me to make a schedule that worked. Amazing marketing team, and amazing work experience. 

In the beginning working there was amazing!
The overall work place culture was great, a real family atmosphere; most people got along and worked well together. However, after the owner no longer had an active role within the company the work place became extremely toxic: nepotistic hiring practices by the CFO at the time led to qualified and knowledgeable management and employees being push out or "laid off", pernicious gossip and back stabbing became the new norm, scare tactics by new management, such as department meetings intended to single out a particular employee were used a few times while I was there.

It's sink or swim here, which is a lazy management mind set. Absolutely no training is provided but you are expected to work as efficiently as people who have been working there for months if not years. If you get sick and are honest about how you feel you will be let go (so you should not be honest and potentially get other people sick apparently) The warehouse is a complete disaster, again inadequate management but they say "well we just have to get through this together". The only bright spot is some of the workers in the warehouse, other than that this company is doomed. Stay far away from this place.

The best part of Sinclair are our people! My team mates and I often take part in team building activities both in and out of the office. It's great working with people I know have my back! My managers support my learning and development and give me great flexibility to work on things I find interesting. There are opportunities to advance internally and salaries are reviewed annually. I'm able to work from home when it makes sense to do so and even sometimes am able to bring my dog to work with me! In the years I've been here, Sinclair has made big changes. I love my job and highly recommend this employer!

Management is taking feedback from staff, and are focussed on changing the environment. They have actually dismissed a few staff members that had a negative, non-collaborative attitude and were toxic in the company - even managers that have been commented on in the previous reviews on here. 

People from other areas in the company are given opportunities to move up by being able to apply for positions internally (warehouse to sales counter, etc.) 

Things are changing, in a really great way. There are new members of the management team that have really forward thinking. I think people should give Sinclair a chance. 

Management has been there a little over a year and continually bullys staff daily. Don’t have any staff work from home during covid and only care about hiring staff from BGE and pushing out anyone who has a different opinion. The owners don’t even know how bad it’s got. At least old managment was supportive. shudve stayed selling filters. Sinclair used to be a wonderful place to work and now everyone is scared for job. Downhill management just defends themselves. a purchasing treats people terrible. Controlling HR departments brutal. Until owners wake up don’t waste your time on this sinking ship.

The management team in Calgary is great. Most of the employees are great as well. The only source of concern is sales people working the counter desk make a commission while not actively persuing sales leads. This is discouraging to warehouse people who are filling all the orders and doing all the physical labor for the same customer yet see none of the bonuses. If they were actively scouting new sales it would not be a problem but currently tend to take a "they come to us" stance on it.

Absolutely terrible place to work. The pay and benefits are good but if you value your mental health or safety  at all steer clear from this company. They throw you into the deep end with no support at all. Prepare for a steep learning curve with no help from management. Half the time you have no idea what your supposed to be doing. Everyone working here is miserable and not friendly at all. The warehouses are overpacked and safety is an afterthought. Training? Forget about it. This is the worst job I have ever worked at.
