A typical day at work is I straighten out the shoes in their respective shelves and fix the lacing of the shoes, if a customer comes to the store, I Immediately greet him/her and ask "What brings you to the store today?" or "Have you ever owned Skechers before"? These authentic greetings are enforced by management to all associates. 

I have learned a lot of things from this job. Including proper customer service, proper way to greet customers and teamwork with my fellow associates. 

Management has always been flexible in terms of hours. Management also provides associates with proper understanding of the products in store and provides more than enough reinforcements in terms of providing the best customer service to the public. 

My co-workers are very pleasant. We have formed a teamwork bond that allows us to work in unity and with ease. This makes the work environment soothing for everyone and less stressful.

The hardest part of the job is really just when there are no sizes available for the shoes the customer picked out, and so, I have to recall the needs and likes of the customer and pick out a different style that fits the customer's description of his/her needs. In that case, I wouldn't come out of the stock room empty handed and the customer is presented with more options in hand.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the joy I bring to customer when I have provided the best customer experience I could possibly bring to the table. I have had customers who asked for my name personally and thanked me for a good customer service. That to me, is the most enjoyable part of the job.

At the beginning it was great working for Skechers, great management friendly staff. It did not feel like a job in sense where it was relaxed and staff would want to help. The manager at the time was always trying to help you reach your goals and teach you some techniques to sell better. They would never be in the back for more than 10 minutes or on their break. Overall they were a great manager. Not sure what happened but the company replaced the manager for a different one and it all went down the drain. They made me miserable going to work every day, they would always be in the back and not helping hit any targets which caused the store to not be successful. They would talk poorly about the other manager and overall were unprofessional when it came to work. They would show up late and would blame you or others for not making the goal. Not sure how the store is now but I had to quit because it just did not feel the same. Would not recommend to work here unless you are willing to be the only person on the floor and run up and down the stairs for 5 different costumers while the manager sat in the back promising to help you and never leaving to help.  

When you are hired everyone is nice to your face the first day or so then it all goes down hill from there.  There is no communication between management and new hires.  I worked there for less than a month and it was like I never even existed or was even there it seemed.  The employees fear their manager and when the store manager isn't there it's like a playground or a free for all it felt like.  The job isn't what it's made out to be and you should definitely read between the lines before applying here. I wish I had.  The only positive or good thing I took from this place was the district manager was awesome and had an amazing chat with him he seems to be the only one that has any kind of genuine emotion and felt like he does care about who's hired and is the right fit for the company. His management team beneath him should be taking pointers on how to conduct themselves professionally and not just act like carbon copies of the store manager and have no thought process for themselves.  Glad I got out when I did and I'm somewhere so much more positive and better suited to my career goals.

Hours were minimal especially considering the location I worked at was never hitting its daily goals so that meant management had to cut hours. Not very busy ever so most of the time was spent doing side projects to get through the day. Management was very lax about hitting goals so it was not a competitive selling environment.  Promotions were not hard to come by, I was promoted to supervisor within a year of working there with no prior experience before hand.  I was offered a management position approximately six months later but declined for many reasons.  One main reason I decided to decline is the fact that pay was low (less than $13 for assistant manager) and stress on a manager of a store not doing so well was very high.  Another big issue I found was that there was no incentive to do better.  I was one of the "best" employees but I felt that other employees just slacked off a lot and management did nothing about it.

first off, when i was hired i was promised part time with full time hours, it has never been close to full time hours... the most you get is 10-13, sometimes taht between two weeks... i have open availibilty and topsales so it doenst make sense.

 the one year i worked here there has been confusion about a store manager, they have someone run the store but dont give them the job and say they are looking for better yet dont pay for the extra work these people put in to make sure the store still runs smoothly 

the staff is friendly but you hear about gossip all the time- including managment(mostly i should say),and  the store  management has favorites and give most hours to their close friend in the store even if someone else's sales are higher.

they  push you to have crazy goals and nag you when they give you a three hour shift and you didnt make 1000$ at odd times of the day.

When I started at Skechers I worked under the best management possible, great head manager who cared about his staff and fantastic assistant managers. Recently there has been two different changes in management who both failed to live up to the level the previous management had been. They did not appreciate me or anyone who had been there for longer than they had. I had worked for Skechers for almost two years before resigning due to unfair treatment and unethical work strategies. I would receive 4 hours a week when others would receive 20+ hours a week. The manager would also not allow you to call in sick and would get mad if you didn’t find someone to cover your shift, even though it is their job to do so. They would tell you that even though you’re sick and on bed rest you still needed to come in.

If you are not a favourite don’t expect to be be treated fairly or praised for good work. The new management teaches new staff to deceive customers which is not what Skechers stands for.

I was hired with the promise of promotion within 4 months and then after a year of being there I left because I got tired of being told “just be patient”. 

The HR department is extremely lazy and refused to do their job.  There were many incidences of a particular manager being verbally abusive towards staff and nothing came of it. If you stand up for your self then you became an HR target.  I stood up for my staff and HR it seem like I was the guilty party.  HR hides a lot of things from the regional manager and says they have spoken to him but in theory they don’t.  

They allow good managers to walk out the door just so that they don’t have to deal with the bad ones.  This company shoves “work like balance” down your throat but then refuses to allow you hat balance.  

My DM was amazing and you could tell he was always trying his best but you could tell his bosses made his life difficult.

The work environment is positive and almost all of the employees reflect this. The management are the perfect mix of authoritative, flexible, encouraging, empathetic, motivating and many more wonderful things. The managers do a wonderful job of establishing goals and developing creative ways of maintaining motivation of accomplishing these goals. The hardest part of the job is dealing with customers who do not speak the same language, however, it helped that I spoke Arabic which most of our international customers spoke a variation of. The most enjoyable part of this job is the workplace relationships that are developed and the various team building activities the managers create in order to improve performance, as well as the feedback received by the managers and fellow employees about job performance. There is a lot of transparency in this organization.

Work life/balance is based on company needs, not your availability so don't expect more than 15 hours a week...  Salary is entry level so just above minimum wage.  No security or advancement, they don't promote within they hire outside people to take on management positions so don't look forward to being promoted.  Ever...  Managers were fine, just sometimes they can be a little two faced, so just focus on your job and carry on with your day.  Job Culture was easy, you spend most of your day sequencing boxes into shelves and making them look pretty.  It's not a very hard job, just price change things, and make displays and try to sell people shoes.  If you work there long enough, there's always something to do.  I was so bored one day I ended up dusting and wiping down shelves, so you won't be bored here.

Always pushed to drive sales but never compensated. When  incentives are given they are “forgotten about” 

Typical day at work looks like stress induced. Expected to sell even when it’s slow, will get written up if you don’t meet sales regularly. Shifts given away and possible demotion if you also don’t meet these goals.

I believe that Skechers didn’t teach me much from what I already knew about shoes and working in that field for years prior.

Management was not great, talks down to you. Not supportive and again making it fearful to make mistakes cause you will possibly get written up or a demotion 


Workplace culture is stressful 

Nothing was hard, made it hard because of management. And how hard they try to push with NO incentives 

No enjoyable parts.
