This company has many good things and also some problems like everywhere else. Its a small/meduim business which has pros and cons.
The staff and the admins are very friendly and welcoming in all locations. In general, there is a great working environment with very little stress. There are 2 staff days a year where staff can go biking and ski/snowboarding.
Older staff is very knowledgeable but there are no real training programs for new staff and you need to give your maximum effort to learn as much as you can on your day to day. they will try to teach you everything with good intentions but they just dont really know how to teach you or tell you if you are succeeding or not.
Managers are friendly and knowledgeable and they get along with everyone. During busy seasons the stores always have short staffing problems and the rest have to stretch out to the max.
Wages are on the mid/low end of the market, you have to be working there for years to have a good salary or hourly. Wages will be a case by case thing, there is no plan or rule for this, what you get depends on you and how much they like you or need you. Staff know this and it’s a taboo subject.
Very few roles could lead to a career and even then is a very short path. It’s just the nature and size of the business someone on a higher position needs to quit so someone else can fill the role.
In general is a good company to work for with a good environment, good coworkers and little stress, and if you like ski shops you will love to work here.

I worked at Skiis and Biikes for around 2-3 months and honestly had an amazing experience with them. Everyone I met, from the management to the staff, everyone was genuinely so kind. A typical day here involves selling clothes, gear, miscellaneous items, or inventory restocking. I learned very valuable life skills such as customer service, sales, and social skills. When I first started I was so confused about all the different name brands, procedures, and routines but the managers and other co-workers were so welcoming and patient with me,  which helped me catch on fast. Even the owners were active with operations, coming to events, visiting different store locations, and helping around which I find very admirable and considerate. Meeting new people and customers every day was honestly a blessing at this job, everyone who worked at or shopped at Skiis and Biikes always left a positive impression on me. On top of everything Skiis and Biikes itself is a very well-run company, from the online department, service department, and distribution center are all very organized and train staff extremely well. Overall I enjoyed my short time at Skiis and Biikes and would highly recommend people to work here!

The first few hours of the day are productive, but the rest is spent idle due to the outsourcing of ecommerce, marketing, and web tasks. The environment is toxic—especially in the ecommerce department, where the manager (also the owner's sister) regularly displays unprofessional behavior including yelling, gossiping, and belittling staff. Despite complaints, leadership takes no real action. Team morale is low, and the culture is cold and unwelcoming. While there are a few genuinely kind coworkers who make the days more bearable, the ecommerce team sees constant turnover. Unlike other departments where staff stay for years, the ecommerce team is almost entirely new every year. That alone speaks volumes.

Typical day is pretty repetitive after awhile. In our department we were responding to customer messages, and then we would ship out any online orders to customers. For the rest of the day, it would be a lot of data entry. 
Upper management was okay, but the company culture is weird for sure. Each department is cliquey and the workplace gossip is insane. One of the owners siblings is hard to work with, and has no people skills. Any formal complaints are not addressed, and this will never change if the owners do not realize that their sibling is the problem. For someone who is supposedly a manager, the amount of toxic side comments and poor communication skills make the entire team want to quit. 
Otherwise, most staff are good to interact with, and will try to help you if you ask. Turnover rate is high on the job. There have been instances when new hires get sick early on in their employment and get fired because of this. 

A typical day for a sales associate would consist of boot fittings, stocking shelves, helping customers find equipment they need, and more. I learned a ton about boots, the different types and makeups of them, as well as skis and other winter equipment. The management is exceptional. They were very flexible with my schedule and my needs around when I could work. The workplace culture is very supportive and really feels like a community. The other staff made me feel welcome and at home at the store. The most enjoyable part of my job was satisfying customers and overall dealing with the clientele. Most people who shop at Skiis and Biikes are happy people who want to be there to get their outdoor equipment and are a pleasure to work with. 

The staff is amazing to work with, it was a great experience to be part of such a motivated and passionate team, who are all full so of knowledge. It was fantastic to be a part of the team who all put customers first, and help everyone who enters the store have the best experience they can have, and help them get everything they need in the most efficient and effective way possible, as well as making a bond and lasting impression to make them feel welcome anytime!

You'll meet a lot of good people there. However management is poor and HR is non existent. Reporting staff for inappropriate behaviour goes nowhere. On extra busy days you'll be expected to do things outside of your experience and customers that are rude and hostile will be prioritized over you by managers.  There is a reason the family that runs this place has a reputation of being disliked in the Ontario ski scene.

Repair multiple bikes per day. I've learned how to fix all kinds of bikes from high end road to high end mountain. The management is not as tidy as i thought but we get things done. My co-workers are great to be around and work with, very relaxed and moves along well as long as people keep busy at work. Hardest part of the job would be the amount of bikes that need to be by the end of each week. The most enjoyable part of the job would have to be the people that I work with everyday.

I would come into work, assist customers, went around the sales floor to see if anything was misplaced or hung incorrectly, cashed out customers and did returns, cleaned tables, mirrors, shelves, displays,  explained the use and qualities of certain items, answer phones and transfer calls, take orders through the phone, check inventory for certain items, prepared in-store transfers for delivery, would help the cashier with balancing the cash register, turned off/on the open sign.

It's a pretty chill job, can't complain about the workload at all really. Management and all employees are really nice, works together well. It was a good job to make friends as well, people are open to doing stuff together after work because of the positive environment. It can be very slow, and it wasn't exciting for me long term, but I'm sure if you're really into it you'd get some career advancement. Pretty much as good of a retail job as you can get (I don't like working retail).
