Skills for Change

The toxicity and bullying by the Senior team, especially the CEO, make the work environment the worst I have experienced in my career and believe me I have seen some things.  The CEO has her chosen favorites, who are wined and dined at every turn, while the workforce is treated poorly, overloaded, belittled, and bullied constantly.  As long as you are a "yes-man" and agree with the CEO on everything you should be fine, but do not dare speak up against her, have your own opinion, question a decision, or how funds are used.  If you do she,  together with her chosen circle, will make your life as difficult as possible.  You will be expected to perform miracles, but will not be provided with the tools, resources, support, or budget to make it happen. The high rate of staff turnover tells its own story.  During my relatively short period there I saw more than 100 people come and go, most significantly on the mid-management level - not for better opportunities mostly, but because they could not continue to work in the circumstances. 

Staff can be more supportive of each other. Micromanagement and lack of communication from management can make one  feel unrecognized, which is also important at work. Managers need to collaborate better to provide proper guidelines and structure for staff.

Has great people but the culture is toxic and is sometimes run like a dictator regime. Really great opportunities to collaborate but you are overworked as the portfolios are broad. 

A challenging teaching job with newcomers accounting professionals. Always excited to bring the newcomers Accounting professionals into the Canadian Accounting environment(Basically Accounting Soft wares)

It was the place where I learned a lot about Canadian taxation. It was fun environment, I got to know many people, shared our experience and had a wonderful time helping low income people file their returns.

A great place to make a difference and be part of an Organization that is involved with a variety of projects to make a difference to its clients.  Positive and excellent management

People are nice. Senior management is friendly and approachable. Provides opportunity to switch departments and learn in new functions. I saw lot of people who have been there for more than 2 years

Pay is low and expected performance is high.

Management seems to be supportive by asking people to provide feedback but no changes are implemented.

This used to be a well-respected agency providing necessary services to Newcomers. No longer. With its current management, it's now a disorganised joke.

It was a great opportunity and I recommenced others to work there or be a volunteer. Collaborative and friendly culture. Relaxed environment, and opportunity to learn new skills.
