A typical day at work: Come into a beautiful store well organized and maintained after all this becomes your home make sure you vacuum the night before and fix all the pillows and once you walked into the store in the morning you feel good and so does the customer. 

Start-up your computer and check voicemails, check email for upcoming events, print new tags, clean the store make the store clean and tidy for each customer that comes into the store. 

Once a customer comes into the store that's when your days starts by changing someone's life making the customer feel welcomed, not pressured and treated like family. The most enjoyable part of the job: When you take a customer that has not bought a mattress in over 5-10 years and not familiar with the service that sleep country offers, guiding them in the right directions from mattress to lifestyle bases and headboards and duvets and sheet and keeping the customer knowledgeable in every move and making their purchased the most memorable and best time they ever had..that is what make me love my job

Pro: After 17+ years of being a Sleep Expert at Sleep Country,  I loved making a difference in our clients lives by providing them with sleep solutions that improved their well-being. My favorite was being part of the employee training team and providing colleagues with extensive training in sleep health, body mechanics and advanced sales techniques, ensuring our clients had the best in-store experience. Benefits package is amazing. 
Cons: 
- Questionable store staffing levels. Preferential treatment are given to some individuals by rewarding them by deliberately low staffing high-traffic stores (more commission per sales associates) for some, or deliberately overstaffing low traffic store (reducing income stream for all associates),or shipping associates to remote locations as punitive, disciplinary measure by management. Understaffed stores can have long hours - Multiple solo 11 hour shifts (can be 47.5 hr to 69 hrs per week)
- No part-time options
- Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability providers can be problematic to work with. Returning to work after prolonged leave, HR and management team won't guarantee you that you will have a job to return to when cleared medically.  On one occasion you get your old store back, next time your offered a different one that is inconvenient, or tell you sorry we're full or you have to reapply again. 

Very different then any other retail job I have ever worked. The ability to earn a higher income is endless. Long hours but rewarding pay! Constant training is provided by the company and vendors to ensure that we are always well equipped with knowledge to truly be sleep experts. 
Work-life balance can be tough the hours are long but very rewarding for the pay cheque. Because Grande Prairie is a remote location, we handle a lot of local customer pick-ups. You also have to be prepared for the physical side of the job, including regular heavy lifting.
The earning potential is very high with great bonuses, and the training is fully paid. Vacation time grows quickly; I’ve been here ten years and now get four weeks of paid vacation! Mental health is a massive focus for the company, and communication with my direct manager is excellent. The culture is incredibly rewarding—I have made lifelong friendships here, and the social side (like Christmas parties and after-hours activities) is great. Long-term staff retention proves it is a solid place to build a career.

Working at Sleep Country was challenging due to a toxic and manipulative management culture. Long hours, poor leadership, and a lack of proper training made it difficult for employees to succeed. Customer service standards have declined, as the focus shifted from genuine care to aggressive sales tactics. The commission payout system was inconsistent, and the rotation system was often manipulated by managers, creating an unfair and demotivating work environment. Advancement seemed to favor those who complied with excessive demands rather than recognizing talent and effort. Without proper support, training, or fair opportunities, employees struggled to grow professionally. The company’s approach to employee treatment and customer service has resulted in a deteriorating work culture. Overall, the environment was neither sustainable nor rewarding, making long-term career development difficult.

Sleep Country sounds like a great place to work but their interview process needs to be better handled as I spoke to two people asking the same questions they lack communication between departments and once I got the next step forward I had a 100+ questionnaire to answer between strongly agree and disagree with very personal questions some almost invasive for an employer to even ask which is why I didn't proceed with the application interview process as it was too invasive for an employer to ask those questions.
I will however proceed with the job interview if Sleep Country makes the questionnaire less invasive to their future employees or gives an interview in person for a judge of character instead of a questionnaire that has invasive questions about an individual rights of privacy which shouldn't be infringed by a company.

Sleep country is a company where you can learn more while you’re working, easy understandable and simple to use the equipment. At sleep country they’re many different people from different countries but work like family, they have company events and BBQ programs outside the workplace. 
The management is also doing well without any problems with associates; you can ask them favors whenever you have things to do. The work can be done by team sometimes when you need help because some of the products are heavy but you get helped anytime you need it. 
The best part of the year in the company is the coming of holidays when they’re having Christmas presents.


Of the companies I have worked for, by far this one really does care about the individual. I was told before starting that it's like a family. I worked there for 3 months and I couldn't agree more. Many of the people I worked with had been with the company for over 10 years which is highly unusual in today's volatile job market.

I worked in sales and found their training to be excellent. Another aspect that is so different especially in sales. My reason for leaving was personal and wish that I hadn't had to leave.

I highly recommend working for this company. My only issue is that there is no flexibility for part time sales hours, which is why I ended up leaving. The potential to make a great income is amazing, but at the cost of having no family life. It's a sacrifice I wasn't prepared to make at this point in my life.

Long hours (11 hours on weekdays) work every weekend unless on vacation. Many sales meetings and workshops and re-training that bite into the little personal time you have left. Made the most money I ever have. The first layer of management thinks you are property to be traded and moved around to whatever stores within the region, without notice, and for flimsy reasons. It's a "do as I say, not as I do" 1-way relationship. Greed is the most rewarded attribute in sales staff. The benefits are amazing, HR department is helpful, and the executive level has become disconnected from the front line since going public. Some customers are great, most will treat you like trash. Nothing wrong with building a great amount of savings here and moving on.

The thing that I find best about Sleep Country Canada is that the company is quite young with lots of area's for improvement. With the right support anyone can achieve their personal and professional goals. The staff and management team are all focused on the same pillars of success which is why Sleep Country Canada is so successful. The hardest part of the job is maintaining the standard of professionalism with the increase of workload or change of responsibilities without the necessary manpower required. The most enjoyable part of the company is after 10years of service you and a guest are brought on a all-inclusive vacation.

Everyone at the distribution center is great to work with. Nice casual environment where people are encouraged to get to know each other while still getting the work done. New upper management has started to implement a lot of initiatives that are good in theory but are not well thought out prior to implementation. This has lead to a significant increase in data entry and what feels like misguided tasking and micromanaging. They also go about treating every distribution center the same even though we have ones that only have a handful of employees and a couple of delivery trucks a day and also ones that have around 50 employees and between 20 and 30 trucks a day.
