Think twice before coming to work here (don`t waste your time).

If you decide to work for this company, you must be ready to deal with:

1. The most contemptuous attitude on the part of the top management.

2. There are two opinions in this company - the first is the opinion of the top management, and the second is the wrong opinion. And they don’t care that you will work harder, although there is a more convenient option for solving a problem or doing a job.

3. Be prepared to be fired at any moment. After the end of the high season in the summer, they fired about 10 or 15 people - mostly Production assemblers (meanwhile they have gathered another people at the another end of facility and said them very opposite and negative things about fired co-workers ). Next, before Christmas they fired a few more people and said same negative things to another staff.

4. The plan and volume of work is constantly increasing. Perform duties that do not pertain to their position on a regular basis.

5. Employee rotation is constant.

6. You will be given unrealistic or really hard goals and then scolded for not achieving them.

7. You will experience constant stress due to constant anxiety. The feeling of anticipation of the next trouble will be constant

I would recommend to avoid working at this company. Yes, it seems to be very peaceful and friendly atmosphere at the very beginning, but be aware! You will be kicked out as soon as they will decide you are not suitable or you have your own opinion about something. And doesn’t matter which position you have. You will be kicked out immediately! 
Salary is a very minimum, but they call it “very competitive”. You will get more and more duties; you will do somebody’s work but nobody will pay you something extra. No raise of salary, no bonuses or something else.
There are lot of good workers there, but the owners are so arrogant and so contemptuous.  They have absolutely unrealistic expectations of ALL employees and expect employees to put in excessive hours and sacrifice family/personal time. 
Very, very toxic place! Toxic environment, toxic owners and management. They have sharp claws in their fluffy paws, be aware! Better search for somewhere else. 


I would recommend that you avoid working for this company. I've witnessed workers cry on the job, floor and warehouse staff be subjected to unsafe working conditions, and both current and prospective employees be lied to about advancement opportunities by management. Turnover rate was very high with very few employees having worked there for more than 2 years.

Managment is too isolated from the work being done and genuinely believe they can do a better job doing your work then you can. You will be constantly walking on egg shells around them so pray everything goes as planned because they will not be understanding of any issues that you might encounter.

Salary is well below market standard, but they make sure to tell you they are paying you exactly how much they think you're worth. If you desperately need experience, put in your 6 months, otherwise any other opportunity is better.

Upon being hired owners treat everyone like gold. After a month you will be completely ignored (they have no need to pretend anymore). Staff within the office are completely silent, no one has authority to make any decisions (even executives). There is zero on-boarding, they will hand you a computer without software to do your job.

Management is decent, very few have been there for longer then 1 year, which is an extreme challenge for winnipegs top employees. Owners have no clue about engineering, quality, processes, etc…. They generally will not listen or take any sort of collaborating from staff, regardless of your role.

You’re better off not working than working in this environment. Don’t be fooled by a generous offer as it will not last.

I a true believe of you get what you put in. It's great company recognizes those that put the effort in . They value they employees and they opinion. It's growing company, so there is lots on the go. It's fun and exciting...and yes...it can be stressful sometimes...But that is part of growth. We like to work as team here. Since growing, there is a lot of room for advancement if you want it. They are looking for high performers who put effort in. If you do that, there is VERY GREAT future for you! I've been here for almost two years,, I've seen the changes. It's very fast-moving environment. Not everyone like that. Love the company events !!!

Personally, I have learned a lot and was proud to be part of creating unique products. The team at this company is very friendly and pleasant in a moral sense. I also want to commend the wonderful, caring, and open employees of the HR department, who not only work for the benefit of the team but also strive to create a warm and practically family-like atmosphere at the company. Working here, you can not only earn an honest living but also participate in the production of products essential for ensuring children's safety.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
This is not a place you want to work. Don’t leave a job you have security with for this. The people are great but the owners and management are where you need to watch out. They create a toxic environment and have unrealistic or contradictory expectations creating confusion, stress, and unhealthy workplace culture. If you fall short they will belittle you in front of other employees and will let you go if you disagree with them or stand up for yourself. Not worth it.

The company does nos value their employees, even when they have hard working, individuals who have worked for them. It’s a small company were management are the owners who think everyone and everything is running smoothly. But in reality once you hit the production floor, you start talking to the workers and everyone complains about no having tools, no having any raise in their ($15/hr) salaries in over a year and a half. The people who work here are always looking for a better job and leave as soon as possible. The ones that stay longer are folks over or close to 60 years old, who would have a harder time finding a new job. 

Smartrend is a very dynamic fast paced environment.
Company has grown quickly in the 2 years I have been there.
Many people come and go .
If you have a positive attitude and are willing to grow and learn with this company this is the place for you.
If you’re negative ,untrustworthy or dishonest ,like to cause drama or a slacker , you will be let go.
Do the best you can with the skills that you bring , put in an honest days work for an honest days pay.
You will leave with a smile every day.

This Company provides an opportunity to grow and develop your skills. The people are AMAZING, and everyone is very helpful, considerate, and kind. 

Although we have a lot on the go - lots of growth and exciting times, the Company takes time to celebrate the team, small and big wins, and they always want to make sure that we are having "fun" while we are working.

They have provided more team events than any other company I have worked for. I feel valued and seen.

It is a privilege to work here, and I am really looking forward to what is to come.
