I worked in Burnaby Smilestones for more than 1 year, the team is supportive and collaborative. My colleagues are friendly and willing to share their knowledge and experiences. This openness creates a positive atmosphere where everyone learns from each other and grows together. Whether it's about classroom management, creative activities, or child development strategies, my co-workers are eager to offer advice.

The manager plays a key role in fostering this positive environment by frequently sharing professional educational insights which helps us improve our teaching skills. Additionally, she is very attentive to the individual needs of each class, regularly checking in to ensure that everything is running smoothly. This kind of support and concern for both the educators and the children creates a warm and caring work environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to grow professionally.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with such a supportive and caring employer. From the very start, my experience here has been marked by a genuine sense of kindness and understanding. Management not only prioritizes open communication but also ensures each team member feels valued and heard.

One of the most remarkable aspects of working here is the flexibility they offer, allowing us to balance personal commitments alongside work responsibilities seamlessly. This flexibility has truly helped me stay balanced and productive, which I appreciate deeply.

Policies can vary significantly between classrooms. If you're fortunate enough to work with dedicated senior teachers, you’ll learn a lot from their attitude, love, care, and passion for the children. However, if your coworkers are lazy and lack genuine commitment to their job, they may lead you in the wrong direction. It seems like management either doesn't address this issue or lacks the ability to distinguish between genuinely good employees and those who are just putting on an act.

When I worked there, the management expected me to run the program and room with minimal support even though I was not in a supervisory position. There would turn to me to have disciplinary conversations with my coworkers, and when there were issues or concerns would not help sort anything out. There was no compensation for extra work or overtime, and after a year, they did not offer a wage increase even though tuition went up. 

*The management only cares about money. If there is a conflict between staff and parents. They will only stand for the parents. 
*Bad benefit and low pay. Staff has to pay 70% out of their pocket, so many of them choose no benefits.
*A lot of complains in the center. Staff members complain about management and each other. *Staff have to dump the gabarge which is too heavy and disgusting.

I’m grateful to be part of such a positive work environment at Smilestones junior kindergarten,North surrey.

Our manager is supportive, approachable, and truly values everyone’s input, which motivates me to give my best. I feel recognized and appreciated, and there’s always encouragement to grow and improve. Overall, a fantastic place to work!"

Smilestones is the most amazing workplace as an ECE if you are hoping to work with other inspiring ECE’s and under a great manager. The teachers at the south Surrey location are dedicated and collaborative, always willing to help each other do better. I left this job for a management position elsewhere but it was not an easy decision as smilestones became my family- I would recommend this location to anyone!

The manager doesn’t treat the teachers right and no support from the manager and the owner. You can’t trust them with there words they change fast. I had a horrible experience. They kick the teachers fast if they don’t need them and they don’t treat the treachers right. I don’t recommend anyone working here. 

Terrible place to work. NO support or respect for employees from management. All they seem to care about is money coming in, so they focus all their attention on families. VERY stressful work environment, and discrimination going on.

As a classroom teacher you are expected to created daily amazing inquires, lesson plans, art projects ect. on top of already highly demanding job to care for tiny children, often with special needs. Very high tuition fees reflect only for company profits, no salary increases or appreciation for teachers. Was not happy working there.
