Working at Snakes and Lattes (College Location) was the worst experience of my life.
To start, I spent months asking for proper training that I never got. They don’t care.
They don’t care about product quality or training their employees to give good service.
Actually, management doesn’t care at all about employees.
The entire place is handled like a frat house or something: you’ll be promoted or fired based on who you’re friends with. Upper management will start rumours about you, will leak confidential information and gossip about you just because they don’t like you.
No matter what you do for the company, you’ll never be properly recognized if the right people don’t like your vibe.
Work/life balance? Forget about that! You could be written up for calling in sick (as I was threatened once), they will tell you you should never have plans after work because they may want you to stay.
The job itself wouldn’t be so hard if it wasn’t for all the drama that upper management creates.
And if you see someone doing something wrong, you shouldn’t say anything or else they will say you’re lying and fire you because of it.

Management is borderline incompetent at times and has become paranoid over lawsuits for illegal firings since they keep getting sued for it.  Seen management lie to staff on more than one occasion, petty infighting, playing favorites, and a complete lack of support when you desperately need it.

Quality has tanked hard since they first opened as well.  They used to serve charcuterie, make ice cream in house, and sous vide meat.  Now you get pre-made burger patties and an assortment of the cheapest sysco products.  I used to take pride working for this company, but it's sad how much has been shoved out the door for more profits.

it was an easy, decent job until they demoted most supervisors, etc and all servers down to 12.20 - implicitly expecting more work completed for less money. benefits were cut. various other changes were implemented and servers began making 1/5 of their previous take-home amount. staff meals were specifically chosen out of certain items on the menu and one had to pay for cheese, pickles, etc to be added to their food.

the company culture changed extensively in the past 5 years, resulting in almost complete turnover. people who didn't leave were fired or otherwise systematically pushed out.

When I first came on board, as a server, it was great. My wage was above minimum, and I got to learn about board games and help facilitate a unique guest experience. It was awesome! After being promoted to Supervisor, I started feeling burnt out very quickly, and frustrated with the whole management structure. At some point, the media professional who had done so much hard work to create brand recognition was randomly let go, and the founder disappeared to open a location in the states, and the whole management structure seemed to crumble

Awesome co-workers and definitely a place where you can hang out and make friends. Ideal for people without experience in a professional kitchen and want to learn. 
Kinda dull menu and unstable hours since the main charm of the restaurant is their huge library of board games.
Great in site management but awful upper management. Opportunity of growing is none existent 

Very glad I am free from working for this company. 
Absolutely horrible management, no sympathy for their employees, stubborn / won't listen to advice, and are all about money (and the food shows). 
Also 95% of the food is from Sysco guys, its not good. Not much made in house anymore. I have zero respect for this place.
Wouldn't suggest working here.

Managers would cut shifts of employees without warning. They would tell us not to sign in when we got to work and often send us home without pay if the restaurant was not busy enough.
Most importantly the Managers would bully staff members they didn't like. When I worked there 5 people quit within two months because of how one manager was treating them.

All staff are seen as replaceable. Be prepared to work every weekend. Getting a shift covered is nearly impossible. New menu is awful. Management acts like they care about staff but in reality could care less. Supervisors are lazy and power trip very hard. The new Yonge and Eglinton location is going downhill fast. Most staff believe it’ll close down within the next year.

The worst job with the most negligent management team I have ever worked with / for. Terrible scheduling, no support, poor work ethic from most employees, and poor attendance from most staff, (constantly calling in sick before shifts with 10 minutes notice). Poor communication and service standards. Management was not available to help the team due to laziness and ignorance. Constantly overworking employees.

a chill environment at a popular hip lounge, tips are good, they offer benefits, make sure you know at least 2 of the axis that the business is based on (coffee, booze, games) and you'll be a ok.

The company culture is to avoid taking half hour breaks in favor of 1-2 five minute breaks, so mileage may very there.
