Only stayed so long for the somewhat decent pay that was livable. Very high rate of burnout, poor management and leadership. Will reprimand for anything not by the book, but will not reward for extras or doing more than necessary. Took a toll on me physically and mentally and mental health declined and no one cared or bothered. Many good coworkers left before myself. Always short staffed. Free for all no rules for clients, Violent clients still accepted. Gaslighting and micro managing managers still having their positions. Staff assaulted or harassed and managers ignore it. It isnt worth the work. Wish i knew.

I am impressed and haven taken so many positive things from my experience with Somerset West that I do not know where I would begin. Anyone that is looking for a nurturing environment to work in, looking to have colleagues that can be friends as well and that is still looking for a workplace where they can give their all: this is the place to be. I am grateful for everything that I've learned and was able to see and take in in my few months here.

I have experienced lots of childcare centre but this one was by far the most stressful one I have worked at. Great diversity within the community though. Mico managed by staff I couldn't give my own ideas and they were bever considered. The staff there were always stressed which caused me to stress as well. I was very unhappy working there. My mental health working there was not taken seriously which caused me to crash.

I am in my office for most of the day, prepping and scanning old medical charts, and listening to music while I work.
I have learned the meanings of many medical terms and abbreviations after reading them in the charts.  I would get curious about their meanings and search for them in my dictionary or on wikipedia.
The hardest part of the job is when the scanner breaks down and has paper jams all the time.  It frustrates me when scanning time quadruples or quintuples.

It's a nice place to work at and the atmosphere is great, the people there are really nice and welcoming, some clients might be a handful but they mean no harm

A Typical day is extremely busy with people coming for different services. I learned new clinical skills and respecting and acknowledging cultural differences. The management was well organized. The workplace culture was extremely friendly and encouraging.

look forward to working with my coworkers/ partners everyday! Just a great place to work while doing a difficult job! You'll feel supported & appreciated! But definitely a difficult job at times.

I loved working with the different kinds of cultural backgrounds of the all the people living in the area.
I loved how they have available free resources for helping the community. 

SW fosters an environment where they put the needs of clients above staff needs. Lack of boundaries, and lack of care for your personal safety and mental well-being
