Even though the higher-ups in Canada talk a big game about fairness and including everyone, it doesn't always happen that way. It looks like some people get special treatment because of their connections.

Even when the company acts like everything's fair and square, there are times when certain people act like they own the place. They throw their weight around and make decisions that aren't cool for the rest of us. That's got people thinking that real fairness and including everyone aren't top priorities.

I'm new here, and I've heard it's been this way even with different leaders before. I'm not trying to trash anyone, just pointing out there's room to step up and make things better. We should be all about fairness, being open, and giving everyone a fair shot to grow in their careers.

If you're thinking of joining Southwire Canada, my advice is to talk with people already here. Just so you know, like lots of other places, how things work here can depend on who you know or who knows you.

Let's hope this feedback lights a fire under Southwire Canada to make some positive changes. We're all about making this place awesome for everyone.

There's no end in sight to the number of system issues the company has to deal with since switching over to SAP.  But when all is said and done most of the colleagues and co-workers are great people to work with.  Managers are very supportive and friendly making them easy to talk with.

My only concern with Southwire Canada is that with the exception of Sales roles, there's very little opportunity for growth within the company.

The hardest part of the job would be the sheer workload.  Primarily due to the multiple systems being integrated into one is slow and causing many inefficiencies.  Employees feel short staffed on good days, while taking vacation is a nightmare upon returning.

Yes it's hard work, but rest assured there is a lot to learn here and a lot of fun to be had.  From cake days once a month to celebrate birthdays to daily fruit provisions, as well as a decent gym - we are well taken care of.

Every day was different due to the many different types of products we manufactured. Learned how to work with many personalities and different work styles. Most of the management group welcomed me when I became part of management and I developed many permanent friends. I still associate with many co-workers. The hardest part was dealing with the changing variables of production on a daily basis. The best part of the job was to use my experience and knowledge to create positive changes for the workers that would benefit production.

This is as stated an innovative forward thinking company that recently introduced SAP as the company's expanding data base. This transition was a painful process that in the end will be successful but due to poor implementation customer service was lacking the impetus needed to keep customers truly satisfied although in the end it will succeed.

Dealing with too many departments  who only cared about protecting themselves

In a word, toxic. No such thing as a work life balance there unless you are willing to be a yes man and abandon your principles

Just go, go go till all tasks are completed in a very efficient manner

Biggest problem is job security. In the five years I've been there turn over has been high. New managers come in and wipe the slate clean with workers with no regard for previous work done. Work life balance is now almost non-existent. 
The good things. The average workers are great to get along with and helpful. Benefits are good and there is a gym on site.

Great interesting job new challenges everyday. Hours as a supervisor were longer than everyone there but over time was paid for those hours which allowed an opertunity to make a comparable wage to other positions in the business.management was inconsistent when it came to discipline and favourites were played. This would be the only knock the job

a great place to work when it was Noma Cable Tech. Not so good after bought by Southwire and closed us and took our work all down to the USA plants. We had high quality and made the most difficult products. Now i hear they have quality problems with some of their products. Thats what happens when you boot a skilled work force out the door

Unlike a lot of companies where they claim they care about safety at southwire it really is important to them. The whole shift even does stretches first thing for 15 min. Hardest part of the job would be lifting heavy reels of wire.
