I worked there for 9 months.
It was my first welding job and I was fortunate to get it.
A typical day was welding anywhere from 10 parts to 500 parts of the same thing for specific roofing products.
Upside of this job is that they gave me a foot in the door.
Downside, once I established that I could runa decent bead, it was mind numbing work.
Another downside, especially towards the end of my stay there,  was the lack of work. I spent hours/day just standing around doing nothing. I wanted to learn but there was no opportunity to do it. In times like this I would practice my welds on scrap metal but often the manager would say I was wasting material. So the vibe I got from them was that they didn't want me to improve as an employee for them.
Another aspect of this place is that they are cheap. A case in point, was when i needed a new rotary bur head to grind something down. I asked my manager and he replied by saying I would have to buy it...I would have to buy something that would benefit the company from my own pocket. I still don't understand that.
If you just want a job, this is the place. If you want to learn as I wanted to as a junior welder, there's no interest on the management side to help you.



At Spar Marathon was home to me. My co-workers on the floor or in the offices, or other locations were family. I learned a lot being there. My customer services grew as i was there. My everyday customers I learned what product from which company they would use. Our work can be very stressful dude to a lot of codes and remembering them. We would also draw for metal shop, so that they can make what they needed. Everything about that job was great, hard but good. honestly my mistake was leaving, but I needed a change. So i moved to Ottawa.

You're there for 9.5 hours regardless of how busy or slow it is. It's backbreaking work loading shingles on a roof, especially on the steeper pitches and bigger roofs. Need to be comfortable with heights. Traveling to the different job sites and assisting the drivers is fun. If you're not getting sent out on deliveries, you're usually just sweeping in the warehouse, picking up garbage in the yard, or pretending to look busy. You do get trained to operate a forklift, which is nice. No certificate though. Interview was basically just confirming you got the job.

When I  resigned my position as Warehouse manager 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everything is stressful. There is no support. Under paid. Long mandatory hours up to eighteen hours a day.  Treated extremely badly.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was very much a toxic culture.  Lots of back biting.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start at 5;00 am. Supervision of loading and dispatching trucks.  Co-ordination of deliveries.  Ensure all orders are picked correctly.  Multiple checks on product and Qc. Daily inventory.

Awesome place to work and friendly people to work with

The pay is really low and the company won't give you a raise

The company is cheap but the people working there and the environment is good

Slow and chilling and very relaxed not too busy

Being a former driver with the company we worked hard i enjoyed some parts of the job going out daily seeing customers and being on the road . The biggest issue i had was the pay . We as drivers were way under paid the average pay for drivers was 22.00 we as drivers were paid 17.00 and the owner refused to give us more the benefits were not great and you had to wait nine  months to receive them . Management was great sales reps were great and all the counter staff was great .

You work with all the branches - yet every branch looks out for themselves and won’t help you. 

The pay kind of sucks and they don’t give many raises 

You can’t take any time off in the summer like zero time off ! 

And you often work saturdays

Owner does not care about employees at all, will send away employees who have 10-20 years at the company over asking for a dollar raise. Trucks are in terrible condition always breaking down and they refuse to fix them properly because this company's mechanics are incompetent.

I learned crane and moffet in this company 
The hardest job was crane operating.
one thay a customer gave me $ 50.00 tip,,it was a bigest tip in this company i had.
we dont have any sport play field in this company and no any fun'.
job was too hard,,,,,no time for tennis,
