Everyday you are expected to arrive at work at 7:45-7:50, and with the time I had worked there I found out we weren't getting paid until 8. As to whether this remains true or not, I'm unsure. When you arrive in the morning you load the vans and get your schedule for the day. Often there are many timelines and you get called on the work phone asking how you're doing or telling you to hurry up. I found myself stressed many days because of how much they rushed you. 

For the type of work you do, and the long uncertain hours, the pay isn't near enough and there are no benefits either. With minimum wage at $15 getting a dollar or two more isn't enough when you don't receive benefits and you feel constantly rushed throughout the day. Spiffy Clean DOES strive for perfection but often at the expense of there employees. Sometimes you'll get sent to a house that's 2500 sq ft and have one person helping you clean a very dusty and dirty reclean and have an hour to complete it. In a tight time frame like that, you are bound to miss things however hard you try.

On another note, you don't get paid overtime until after 5pm. When an 8 hour day is after 4pm. The reason this is, is because they count all the driving to houses as your "break." When in fact, you don't receive any breaks throughout the day.

You sign a contract at the beginning of your employment for being "trained" on ladder safety. Which isn't training at all, honestly. The "exterior window cleaning," can consist of you standing on a roof unharnessed or leaning out of a window trying to reach the outside of a window with a 30ft drop underneath you. They expect you to know how to use "folding ladders," and feel comfortable cleaning high windows and lights on the stairs on the folding ladder. And if you refuse, expect to get written up or called out.

Sometimes you will go into a construction clean with no hot water and have ice cold water and be expected to clean the houses. Sometimes there is no carpet, no heat, no water. In the case that there is no water, you will be expected to wait around until they figure out somewhere you can get water from, or haul water from a couple houses down.

I have been an employee here for a few years.The employees at Spiffy Clean are absolutely amazing to work with and a lot of long term employees. The boss regularly shows her appreciation for all of our hard work, catered breakfasts, sangria Fridays, amazing Christmas parties etc. The managment is easy to talk to and do their best to help out the crews throughout the day and keep everyone's day as organized as possible. It is a very fast paced work enviroment with high standards. The company thrives on providing the best quality possible to the home builders. this job requires a good attention to detail and if it's not something you have already you learn really fast. The training process is very thorough and ensures you know everything you need to be successful. This job is not for everyone it is hard work it is not causal cleaning. This is a great company to work for!

Would not recommend this place, they will work you hard for so little pay and will not give positive feed back just negative saying you are to slow and your work was not good enough, you never know what time you will be off at the end of the day or if you will even get full hours, they dont have vacation pay only overtime that gets banked and if you don't have any to use you don't get paid for time off and there's not qlot of overtime anyways, you get benefits only after a year of working there, they dont have any form of latter safety and will make you clean high windows while hugging a wall or in almost impossible to reach places, the company vans dont have 4 wheel drive so in winter you are sliding on the road or can't get traction. 

If you enjoy people who don't know how to grow up after high school and like being stabbed in the back by your co-workers, this is the job for you.
If you say anything about management, it will be reported to your supervisor. The wage is a little bit above minimum wage. This is a very high pressure role. If you miss a little bit of dust in a house by accident, you will be written up by your supervisor. The office gossip is the worst part. I couldn't take it anymore and I had only been here for 3 months. Save yourself the headache and stress of going to work and find a different company to work for.

When you arrive at the office you get your day plan and your assigned van, you go to the different subdivisions around Edmonton and surrounding areas. Doing your best to stay on track with the time lines given. I have learned how to improve my time management. the management could use improvement. The co-workers are really nice and good team players, easy to work with most. the hardest part of the job is having too many houses in one day and having to stay overtime without overtime pay increase. The most enjoyable part of the job is the co-workers that you work with everyday.

typical day at spiffy was i got into work an hr early as i had to put together every teams cleaning suplys for the day , as there were 2 people to a team we had 10 teams out in the field cleaning contrution homes and showhomes. the hardest part was making sure houses are dust free & clean on a time line . the most enjoyable was i did make friends

Fake coworkers talk behind each others back. Heavy workload every house has a time limit and if you’re past you’re timeline you get ask a million questions as to why it took so long. Stressful job that causes anxiety attacks. I don’t understand how some people work at this company for so many years. It’s sad! 

Let me start off by saying supervisors are the worst… They are lazy and like to talk bad about team members! This is very toxic work place! I’ve seen alot people come & go (huge red flag)  Stay away from this place!

Not allowed to give out any information. It was a good place to work. I have learned to work alone. And they have trusted me a lot. They were very happy with my work and I'm always on time.

No comment I have will make any difference. The company does not have any room for advancement, any not very good supervisors. Every man for themselves.
