In the beginning it was an exciting place to work, then you start hearing why everyone else is unhappy and you start to realize that management treats the store like a highschool popularity contest and then your told the manager and assistant manager didn't want the position of shipper receiver filled and you start to feel like your being pushed out. Management offers too much of unwanted help while your organizing products which lead to mistakes being made and all the fault landing on you, the shipper receiver. There is no organization there was no proper training. And when the floor staff is paid much more then you to do little work it's frustrating. Its even more frustrating to hear the lack of respect that other employees have when they come back to make fun of customers with mental health problems/ disabilities. 

A typical day here is always very busy. There is always customers walking in the door and you have to learn how to engage each one!

I learned how to become more self-confident in myself and how to accurately demonstrate my product knowledge. Teamwork is key here!

Management is consistent and very outgoing. Generally, they are very helpful and eager to help. Occasionally, they may get stressed out and it is best to avoid them.

Coworkers varied so much as the job rarely had employees that would stick around for longer than 6 months as this was typically a seasonal job. However, generally everyone is super energetic.

The hardest part of the job is more to do with the time of the year. During the holidays, it can be absolutely insane.

A typical day at Sports Experts, my goal is to make sure that every customer that walks through our front doors is taken well care of, and has my full attention. Management is great, always there to give me tips on how to sell on a regular basis, and also how to be the best sales representative I can be. The hardest part of working at Sports Experts would be when it gets really busy and your helping multiple people at once, but I also think of it as a new opportunity to push myself harder, and at the end of the day, if I can make them happy and comfortable in my store, I know they will be back, helping me out, and Sports experts as a company. The most enjoyable part of my job is all of the one on one chats with customers, I love talking to people and getting to know them, so that when I sell a product, I can meet their needs and their desires.

Typical day at work I would come in, punch in then go see my floor manager for the tasks of the day. So he will usually have a list out and the tasks will be divided up for whoever is working that particular day. We can take as much time getting the tasks done as long as they are finished by the end of the day. Challenge is we also need to factor in the time we take serving customers. I learnt a lot about what it takes to run a store as big as Sports Experts. Every little detail counts from a burnt light to the chemistry between coworkers. Everything factors into the success or failure and I admire the organization of the company.

Sports Experts was my first job and was outstandingly friendly and educational. Management did an excellent job at ensuring all employees knew about the product we sold and that every customer was attended too. A typical shift would be 5 hours with casual water and bathroom breaks. During the first few weeks of the job, learning cash was intense and fast paced. As the weeks continued, the cashier position became less intense and enjoyable. The most favourable part of the job was speaking to customers about their personal experience with various sports and products sold in store.

As a first job while in high school, Sports Experts was everything a student could ask for. An entry level part-time job with flexible hours and understanding management. A 1% retail sales performance commission was very beneficial and motivational for hard workers. 

Management was exceptional, they held regular 'Product Knowledge' (PK) seminars to educate employees about the goods being sold in the store. Getting a shift covered for any reason was easy and management was understandable with school schedules.

Sports Experts was a great part-time job

A great starting job, especially as a part-time employee. The culture you're exposed to is very interesting and allows you to meet a variety of people as you work, but over time it tends to become repetitive and not as interesting as it used to be, over the course of a couple of years. The most enjoyable part of the job is making a customer's day, or setting them on the right path for the shoe they're looking for. There is also no real hard part of this job, as it is just a group of somewhat simple tasks.

I’d honestly rather stay home than keep working in a place filled with fake, immature people. It feels like a high school constant drama, gossip behind your back, and a toxic atmosphere. The pay is peanuts it doesn’t worth sacrificing my mental health. I’ve learned a tough but valuable life lesson there: never trust too easily, because anything you say can and will be used against you. And most importantly, never accept being treated poorly. Know your worth.

Good discount and flexible hours, but low wage and performance pressure depending on the philosophy of the ownership. Not really an ideal company to grow but it's not a stressful place to work in general. You also need to know your stuff otherwise you'll get eaten alive by customers, but you can learn if you're willing to put effort in it.

Great for students who know they don't wanna spend their whole life in retail.

The office is about 20 people, and everyone gets along with each other well. The owners have vital roles within the company, so the attitude and demeanor of each of their employees is important to them. Ownership tries to maintain a hard working, but enjoyable atmosphere. 2-3 times a year, social events are held for the office employees.
