My experience working at this company was deeply disappointing and one of the most challenging in my professional life. In my opinion, the work environment was unhealthy, with noticeable issues such as favoritism and a lack of meaningful support for staff. Concerns raised by employees were often ignored or dismissed, which created a culture where it felt unsafe or pointless to speak up.

While the company presents itself as a major employer, I personally felt that the well-being of staff was not a priority. It seemed as though more emphasis was placed on external reputation and client outcomes than on creating a respectful, supportive workplace for employees. Management practices, in my view, lacked professionalism, and there was little to no effort to foster a positive or inclusive team culture.

The workload and hours were demanding, and over time, the environment had a significant negative impact on both my mental and physical health. For me, this role became more draining than rewarding.



I really enjoy the individuals that I work with.  I truly care about them and I learn so many different things from them everyday.  I attend to their leisure activities and make sure all the staff are always following them.  I attend to their monthly financial needs and try to help them to stay within their budgets.  I enjoy my manager and she has so much to offer and I learn from her everyday.  I like the team I work with and everyone has something to offer all the time.  The hardest part of the job is the busy schedules but at the same time that makes it exciting and keeps me going.  The most enjoyable part of the job are the individuals again and they bring a joy to my life when I see them smile and satisfied.  This is when I know all the things I am doing are worth it at the end.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The children we support are amazing some days are harder than others but mostly great kids.. we have a Wonderful Team Leader, staff is great. It’s like being in one happy family. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When we have incidents. Lots of paperwork but I do know we need it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
We seem to work all together so great. Very helpful to each other. Team work 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Getting children up in the morning, shower children if they need help , brush teeth, brush or comb hair, give medication. Prepare breakfast, getting the dressed for school, get there lunches , drop off to school.

The staff feel like St Amant is there home just as much as it is the residents home. All the people I worked with were so friendly and approachable (including management). Working with the residents there was always pleasant and super fun as you were more than their caretaker. You got to participate in activities the residents liked and got to go out with them! Being a support person is was very rewarding at st.amant 

I learned a lot from the people I supported, and there were two people above me that I can honestly say kept me engaged and improving in this field. Some great coworkers over the years. The workplace culture is terrible. The hardest part of the job is finding someone who wants to see you succeed and assist you in moving up. Very little growth opportunity.

When the next shift worker  doesn’t come you have to carry on the shift 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The environment is good, the supervisor was very understanding and helpful 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The typical day was good , interacting with clients and helping them through with daily living activities

A typical day at work requires assisting a independent client who requires minimal assistance such as grocery trips, budgetting money, meal prepping and encourage healthy meals. It is 1 on 1 with my client, it can get tough at times during outings and having to budget money and the reality of spending too much money and what the consequences may be. The most enjoyable part about being a support worker is being able to help out with any routine needed completed and being able to have a great connection with the client.

Everybody over here is regarded as an equal which is good.
An enjoyable part of my job was all the people I worked with and all the volunteers over there.
The hardest part of the job was meeting the coordinators duties as they were quite a heavy load many times.

Not a simple place to work but if and when we get employed here, EVERYONE will know of you. As in EVERY employer will know EVERY detail of you - scary but also not so scary at the same time...

Volunteering to gift wrap presents for costumers is very enjoyable because all the proceeds go for donation for the kids at St.Amant. I learned that whenever there was a complicated gift to wrap, its always better when more than one person helps. Other volunteers were very kind and helpful. The hardest part of the job was when items such as tape and boxes ran out. But the most enjoyable part was gift wrapping for the joy of Christmas.

A very good place to work. Good benefits. Medical coverage. Job security. HR treats staff with respects. Shifts are flexible. Clients are friendly. TLs & Coordinators are experienced and knowledgeable. Friendly staffs who work as a team. Lots of overtime. Career progression. Regular trainings/development for staffs.
