What's great about being a paper carrier is that it never changes.  It doesn't require too much effort on your hands, apart from collating the papers, but it will always be the same.  You get to meet a lot of lovely people when you go out collecting, and you get to know your neighbours better which for me, was the best part of the job.  The only really hard part is when customers are never around for collection and you need to keep at it every day.  A typical day would have been about 5 minutes of collation, and then a 10-30 minute delivery session, based on your route.  There are no co-workers, and the closest thing to management is the truck that drops the papers off at your house, which was always on time.  I learned that people respond well to a friendly worker with a smile.

This was a great job to begin with, at the age of 11.  I had to deliver between 120 - 140 flyer packets 2-3 times per week to the residents.

Some times the weather was not favourable, and it could be harsh, either hot summer or freezing cold temps with the elements to deal with.

It taught me how to work and earn money.

every day the papers would arrive at my house i would put them together and then to each person house and deliver the papers! if people didnt have a mail box that would be a bit of trouble but i would always leave it under the mat or in between the doors ! all the costumers i had were very friendly i really enjoyed this as a first job for a kid starting out

i do not like working with the standard because when delivering their papers you have no flexibility. when i get home from school i am not able to do any sort of homework or studding until i go deliver all my papers. was fired because of a complaint from being 5 min late because of school.

After being employed as a newspaper carrier, I enjoy how it works with my schedule and give me the flexibility to provide papers when I am able to. The income is reasonable but the delivery of stacks to my house are late sometimes.

Working for the paper was a valuable job experience when I was young, but the winter months are difficult times to complete deliveries due to the snow and cold temperature. Is a good starter job for someone looking to make a bit of spending money or savings.

Typical day involved receiving/shipping of newspaper and ancillary products to distribution contractors.  Position included maintenance of equipment and warehousing area.  This position no longer exists.

Worked there as a kid delivering newspaper, its a one day a week job that is pretty easy, pay is low but that is to be expected, never really had to deal with management, hardest part would probably delivery papers during the winter.

Deliver 25 papers everyday to customers and collect balances every two weeks while ensuring the standard gets their cut of the profits. Sometimes you had to insert flyers in the middle of every paper as well
