Standard Bus

Into training and post-training escorted with trainer, then start into the driver's office check mailbox, take orders and receive additional information before departing office. Pre-trip bus, drive to initial stop, follow route and stops accurately. Repeat process after drop off at subsequent schools, by possibly beginning second portion of route at next beginning start of the route. Abiding by rules and regulations at all times. Park bus, post-trip check, and repeat during afternoon run with pop by the driver's office, a pre-trip check, and follow through with route's obligations to conclude again at the Diversified Transportation yard with a post-trip and tidy of bus for the next day.

I learn routes very well, and how to follow through with rules and regulations.

Management has changed since I have been there, but I appreciate their communication and guidance.

The co-workers knew their seniority, and worked within their comfort zone; they were all very approachable and understanding with acknowledgement of their experience and seniority.

The hardest part of my job earning the trust and respect of my employers and employees.

The most enjoyable parts was the work and the children, with an opportunity for charter work and working with great organizations post-school hours.

I work 5 days a week(20 hours) a bit more because I am a trainer.Love the kids,very hard when summer comes because it is a long time before you see them again.
I have learned patience,when you work with kids you need a lot of that!.The most enjoyable part of the job is the kids.They are ALL different,and ALL of them want to talk to you.I find the kids that I drive are very polite,love to laugh and joke.
Management could be better,we don't have an office in Kelowna so we have to communicate with the office in Prince George.We need an office in Kelowna badly!!
Management seems to avoid problems just to keep on running and they avoid problems when they should address them.

Very bad management , take away all means of OT, you have to literally beg to be paid if you do any OT and do not get paid for it if they can help it,, They even make you ask permission to go fuel your bus, so they can arrange it so you stay within your 8 hours,, Split shifts and with lots of middays not unheard of to do middays for 14 days straight,, very little rest ,,constantly changing pay stub apps that never work,  Favoritisim big time,, Dispatch plays favorites, if you are out in the smoke pit with all the gossip, you get favored ,  Very High turnover as they do not care, constant new hires who do not last long once they see how it truly is there,  Other drivers will think nothing of throwing other drivers under the bus so to speak, constant back stabbing, nobody sits together for dinner or breakfast, 

Job itself is very easy it is all the drama and other negativity that comes with it, , Food is awful all packaged and processed and over spiced, or none at all, You better like sandwhices because they excell at that in the sandwhich room, 

If you want to keep your friends do not recommend this job site for them, 

4:30 am to 9:00 pm with varying scheduled and luggage runs to airport facilities.
Drive crews to and from work site to camp locations in remote oil & gas locations in AB./BC./NWT
Management was out of Dawson Creek, BC and often was left in charge of driver crews at the job to ensure timely pick up and drop off as per the clients scheduled requirements. Worked on shift of 3 weeks at work site and 1 week off or as required shortage of co-worker drivers occurred.
Co-workers were assigned to various locations and drive worker crews in a timely manor as required or changed with request of the Client.  The co-workers were required to work as a team effort and ensure no delays in the schedule assigned.  Good working relations were required to complete the job.
The most difficult part of the job was to coordinate drivers, buses maintenance requirements, and ensuring the scheduled pickup and drop of times were maintained and followed.
The best part of the job was the freedom time between the scheduled pick up and drop off of the crew.

"Safely Home" is their motto, however, nothing could be further from the truth. Equipment is deplorable at best, and always seems to be failing. Preventative maintenance is rarely performed.  Driver training is almost non existent, and people are placed behind the wheel with limited experience and knowledge. The pay and benefits are well below par in Northern BC, more specifically, the Peace Region. Perhaps worst of all, is the middle management. Extremely inexperienced and unable to take the slightest conflict. Drivers are very unhappy with management, but concerns are tossed out the window. Practices being performed may even constitute criminal negligence.

They teach you everything you need to know. How to drive the bus, student management, Industrial first aid etc. The start times differ from each other. Its a split shift morning and afternoon run. You get paid for 4 hours a day unless your run happens to be longer than that, or you sign up for extra work. There are a lot of different people that work here, most are good, you will always have the odd grump :) . Holidays are the same as the kids would get so winter, spring, summer etc. The office staff and mgt are all awesome!!

Diversified has core values but they are not reflected at all by the staff including management! Upper Management is distant and and sluffs things off that they feel are not worth their time for example, harrassment of any kind, employees causing drama in the workplace, etc. I was super excited when I got hired here but quickly realized how things really are and it's not good at all! In my 36 years of working this was hands down the worst place I have worked for. Very poor management, poor pay for the amount of work one person does.

I thought the company had potential if it went in the right direction. There is no training or even any grooming for the office positions. You have to fake it to make it as the old saying goes. Advice comes from people that don't want to do the job but have opinions as to what they would do if they wanted those positions. In all, the company needs better structure as to what to do with new employees in regards to their lack of training.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with the kids on the bus each day.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being grouped when a couple people didn't do their job everybody got blamed. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good most of the time, could be a little clicky at times.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in, do your job and go home.

The work culture is awesome, drivers are great people to work with. The company offers all the training you could ask for and safety is priority 1.  The down side is there is a lot of down time. If flights are cancelled you are on stand-by, you still get paid but it can be boring. The supervisors are easy to get along with and are there to help you. The pay is good and they offer benefits.
