Standens, an IMT Company

This company is disorganized, only cares about their Calgary location to the point that if you work out side of the Calgary branch, your chop liver. They keep hot headed , poor attitude, slacker workers  but mostly because they have terrible management/ supervisors running the show. It’s a joke company, they don’t provide accurate training , your personal matters are not kept discreet, there is no advancements in this company and your work reviews are never done when they should be or your raises . This is a company for lazy people who don’t care about going anywhere in life!! You get away with YouTube for half your shift, personal phone calls, taking advantage of the management because of no back bone or management experience! The whole company works against each other , there is no team player everyone is only for themselves. Sales team is a joke , not only are they inexperienced but they are rude to, about( behind the backs) customers in front of other customers who are in store. Just a joke to work for !!

Do not work here. There are tons of better opportunities and in the end you are just a number that they will feel no remorse for letting you go for no reason at all. Such a toxic work environment between the upper management and the ppl who work on the floor. Nobody is on the same page on anything that goes on, they leave all the workers completely in the dark and always give the same answer. There has been no monthly safety meetings or toolbox meetings to ensure everybody knows what the game plan is or what to expect of anything. Constant lies being told to absolutely everybody on wage increases and evaluations. They tell you what you wanna hear. But never ever follow thru with what they tell you. They expect so much from the workers, yet do not feel it necessary to do any proper maintenance on any of the machines and equipment and run everything until they're left with no choice but to fix any damages. 

I worked from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Usually started to check emails and responding to it. Process online orders and answering calls. I make sure that our morning runs for deliveries are well taking care of. Invoicing every orders to be given to our customers and organizing them and putting it on the file. Calling transport companies for orders that needed to be shipped.Helping in receiving parts into the computer. Faxing, scanning and photocopying as needed.I have learned that being efficient in every way is important and making sure that all the input that you make is correct so the flow of the job would be easy and less mistakes. For me, I enjoyed building good relationships with customers so they will give us their trust and their business.

The place used to be a great place to work as all departments got along well, the money was decent and the benefits were good. They were then purchased by a corporation who has stripped a lot of the benefits of work there. They recently had layoffs and they ruined the culture there as everyone was worried day in and out if they were going to have a job the next day. 

Management never keeps employees informed. The GM does have his favorites who despite their poor performance are continually being promoted to these "newly created" positions.

Overall, if your desperate for some short time work it may be okay for you. Just do not get attached as rules and other things change on a daily basis.

Don't waste your time. Management turns a blind eye to bullying and harassment by both employee's and bosses. They will toss you to the curb after you have put decades of your life into their company. The Security/Safety is incompetent right from the Manager down. The service  center used to be one of the top in the City, but they have gone so far downhill it's pathetic. People are having to bring jobs back numerous times to have poor workmanship and products replaced and redone. 
This company doesn't deserve most the employees they do have 
( except the incompetent Security department) because they've stripped them of all the generosity built up over the years as incentive for quality, hard work.
Employee's are of no value to this company

If you are looking for a stable but very low paying job with an average benefits package, this company is for you. If not, move on.

The people are friendly but mangagement is very closed-off to new ideas and suggestions.

While I was employed with this company there were many people who would regularly get sick, myself included. The air quality in this facility is very poor at best!

Although the company provides their employees with the necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment.) Unfortunately, as previously mentioned; you still breath enough of the air just by walking into the building to start your scheduled work shift or going to the cafeteria for your designated break(s).

Good enough pay to stay for a bit, not too stressful when it is slow. When it is busy there are not enough staff to get to every customer or sale. 

System they use sucks too. 

Understaffed to the point you can’t take time off, be sick, or take a lunch. Head office does not care about the Edmonton branch and cuts all staff. 

CSR staff have to end up helping warehouse staff in the back because there is not enough help back there, if they are busy. 

First characteristics of a bad company: Micromanagement.... Company currently only has a one man hr Dept. Just a total joke. When you first get hired at Standens it seems great until you settle in and discover the owners are only concerned about themselves and never the employee. Standens is a sad example of a company that has a lot of potentials to be  great but never lived up to it. Poorly managed, if you are looking for a place to build your career wrong company, if you are looking for a place to retire and be contempt with being mediocre good company for you. 

This was Hands down the worst company i have worked for, there is a huge lack of safety across the board to the point that some of it is illegal in this day and age, Workers are mistreated at all levels of management, heavy misguided old world ideals and beliefs still guide the management decisions, raises are almost mythical, complaining to management about mistreatment or health and safety concerns go unheard or lead to retaliation from direct managers 
i have never worked for a place that made me feel so powerless and abused 

Standen's was a pleasure to work for along with the staff. They allowed advancement opportunities, for which I capitalized on. A diverse crew to work with, and worked well together. Within a year I went from being hired as a Receiver, to Ending up as a Welder/Assembler/Shipper/Reciever.

Unfortunately they were bought out by I.M.T.  and shortly thereafter my branch was reformatted to no longer do any fabrication and nearly the entire crew were let go to make way for I.M.T.'s own staff.
