Ste. Annes Spa

My own experience has been positive. Coworkers are largely friendly and happy people, the ones who are less so are usually still polite and professional. The grounds and building are great and my position gives has me on the move a fair bit. I am kept busy and I would say its fast-paced, but the tasks vary enough to be interesting and I don't feel overwhelmed. Benefits are really good for full-time staff, pay is usually competitive. They give you access to other stuff too, like free use of the gym and pools after hours, personal trainer, food and gift shop discounts, and stuff like that. 

Reviews/advancement sometimes lags, but there's an education fund and they're supportive of training so you can sort of advance yourself if you choose to seek it. I have seen them close down areas/projects before, but they typically try to transfer staff to another department instead of laying people off. Requests for transfers can be done at any time too, so staff aren't necessarily locked into a job they don't enjoy as long as your suitable for something else. 

The managers I worked under were pretty laid back and hands-off, as long as your department was functioning properly. The only downside I've seen come of it is if there are problems with staff/scheduling/etc. they can be missed until someone puts it onto management's radar first. Once they're aware of it they're pretty good about trying to fix/accommodate in my area. I'd say most departments are like mine. The Spa and Dining are probably the outliers, because they're the ones most beholden to serving guests directly and on their schedules. 
  

Don’t be fooled or enticed by the 
slighter higher wages, working here is not worth the cost to your mental health. While the staff are outstanding, management will be ungrateful and no amount of effort will ever be enough. The incredible reputation of Ste. Annes as been built on the backs of the dedicated staff who go above and beyond daily to take care of its guests. The online reviews will eco that.  But although the care and mental health of it’s guests is top priority the care and needs of the staff are recklessly ignored.  This past year alone several programs have been cancelled including a gym membership, a yearly day spa pass for your birthday, and discount program for one designate. The staff discount was dropped from 40% to 20% and most importantly the RRSP program so many long time staff relied on for their retirement was suspended without notice pending a replacement program in the future TBD, which may never happen. 
 The departure of many long time staff this year and turn over of management has made a bad situation much worse. The dining room has had 5 or 6 managers is the last few years and both housekeeping and front desk have lost key management. The moral of the company is low and has been low for sometime. There is no sign that the owner and directors will make any beneficial changes as they choose to believe they are doing a good job based on the spa success, great reputation and popularity built by the front line staff.

Honestly, this place is the worst. There's too much to possibly list here, but I was warned before and after I got hired that I should not work there. They have a terrible reputation as an employer around the Northumberland County area, and they don't seem to want to change that. I was shocked at the general cleanliness of the property. There's mold everywhere, and the cleaners they use are heavily diluted with water (it's basically just water with a couple ounces of cleaning solution). The decor is severely tacky and outdated. It looks like a grandmothers house from the 80's. They don't care about the well-being of their employees, particularly the fabulous men and women who work in housekeeping. I know multiple people (myself included) who suffered heat stroke during the summers after being told we had to stay outside in direct sunlight for hours, and that we weren't allowed to bring any water with us. We would also get in trouble if we were "caught" going into the staff room to get ourselves some water. 
At the time in which I left, everyone that worked in housekeeping was unhappy with their employer, and looking for other employment opportunities. That tells you everything you need to know about this place.
The interview I had at Ste Anne's was also very unprofessional. It was about 30 minutes in length, and the Director of Operations spent the entire time talking about himself. It was alarmingly easy, as I wasn't asked a single question about myself.
Side note: they now have a 20-something guy with zero experience in hotel management, or even managing staff for that matter, running the entire place.

Ste Anne’s is a beautiful place. Owners are very nice people. They have very good benefits for full time staff. I recommend working in any department other than the dining room. Being a server there is exhausting, they are constantly short staffed. You will be forced to go in terrible weather. The pay is not high enough for what you are expected to do, no tips or rarely as they tell the guests it is a non tipping facility. You will be overworked and under appreciated. Long hours, don’t make plans because you will be called in constantly. Toxic work environment at times. The dining room manager schedules last minute and doesn’t communicate properly or remember the days you need off or can’t work. Before I left she didn’t even get back to me if I worked the next day, kind of hard to plan around if you need another job, which you will if you have bills.  While I was working there 14 servers quit in one month. Most had said it just wasn’t good for their mental health. Also they don’t like to pay overtime. So if you go when someone is sick and work 50 hours one week they will tell you to stay home a day the next week. 

I have been a RMT for 7 years. I worked in a Spa which was actually more of a massage Clinic setting. I am so grateful that I decided to work at Ste. Anne’s. My co-workers are friendly, kind and dedicated to improving the Health and Wellness of their Clients. They were always willing to offer me assistance as I adjusted to my new work environment. 

Management is very professional, considerate and fair. They are always checking up with me about my schedule. Making sure that I have the work/life balance that I need to succeed. 

Also, I am so grateful for all the learning experience I have gain since I started working here. I have learned many new treatments. I have passed my probation and they will now help me to learn new modalities. I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity. 

Coming to work is always so pleasant. Ste. Anne’s is beautiful. The guest’s are so relaxed and grateful to be there. Clinically, it helps to treat clients that are in this mentality. You get better therapeutic results which is rewarding. 
I would definitely recommend working at Ste. Anne’s no matter what your professional background is as a RMT. 

I have been working with Ste Anne’s as a RMT for over 3 years. I work primarily with the spa staff and I can honestly say they are the best group of people I’ve ever worked with, the majority are kind, helpful and caring people and they make me enjoy coming to work everyday.
No work place is perfect but I’ve worked in this business for over 20 years and we have it pretty good at Ste Anne’s.  The pay is fair, the location is beautiful, and there is very little stress in our work day.  I can see the improvements over the years that they are making to better our work conditions and I do believe they listen to us when we give suggestions. 
As an RMT having consistent, reliable hours is a bonus and getting things like vacation pay, and stat pay is something I never experienced as a self employed RMT.  And even benefits for full time workers. 
Working with the guests is lovely, most people are the best versions of themselves when visiting the spa, they are relaxed, celebrating, and so happy to be there, it’s a good vibe.
Over all I love my job, the good times out weigh the bad.  And we can laugh about the small stuff because of my awesome coworkers.

I’ve been an RMT at Ste Anne’s Spa for over 22  years. They have treated me well over the years and it’s a pleasure to be an employee at such a beautiful, well renowned Destination Spa. I’ve watched Ste Anne’s grow and change tremendously, yet still maintain the quality of the experience for both guests and staff. The staff are treated fairly in wage, benefits, training and education and recognition programs. Employees must be up to the challenge of working in a very busy, high-paced and rewarding environment. The hours are reliable and fairly consistent throughout the seasons. 
As an RMT, the marketing, booking, products and laundry are all taken care of. There is potential for training and education and growth within the company. We are fortunate to work as a team with many other departments in this business which make our days enjoyable and fun and we form lasting friendships. Our staff are all dedicated to ensuring our guests are happy, healed and will visit us again. 
Ste Anne’s grows produce and ingredients for our chefs and our own product line making it even more of a special place with exceptional service and employees. I’m proud to be part of this team.

I left my previous employment due to a toxic and unsustainable work environment. Despite my efforts to remain professional and committed to my role, several ongoing issues made it unreasonable for me to continue.

Specifically, the employer removed contractual benefits, including tips and profit-sharing, which significantly altered the original terms of my employment. Wages were inconsistent and unfairly distributed, with senior employees being paid less than newer staff. Reviews and promotions were handled inconsistently and without transparency, resulting in less qualified or recently disciplined employees receiving opportunities while I was overlooked despite my experience and good performance.

Additionally, I experienced unprofessional treatment from supervisors, including being spoken to disrespectfully and dismissed early from shifts without justification. These issues created a hostile environment that negatively impacted my well-being and left me with no reasonable alternative but to leave.

I have been here at the inn off and on since highschool and have had a hand in a few different departments. It can be a fast pace environment but supportive. We have good benefits that are a huge support for families and individuals. The company treats you with respect and listens to concerns when they are voiced. There are programs in place that if you would like to expand your knowledge on your job they can help with education or training to do so. 
There is always some sort of projects on the go as the owner loves to expand on the need for a more natural approaches to health and wellness.  We are always encouraging staff to make use of the supports in place to help your overall mental and physical well being. 
Staff around the inn are friendly and management cares about what staff need in order to be successful at their job. While some jobs might not last a life time , I am more than content living out my days here. 


I have been with Ste Anne's Spa for over a year.  I love my job.  Every employee at the spa is so kind and friendly.  Every time I walk through the door I get big smiles and a warm welcome from everyone from our guest services team and everyone I encounter along the way to the dining room.  The dining room is a very busy faced paced environment, however the team work is exceptional.  All the servers, managers and hosts will jump in, in a heartbeat to help each other out.  Shift flexibility has also been provided for a number of staff who have "special restrictions".  There is an excellent benefits package and special incentives provided to full time staff which focus around the health and wellbeing of employees.  I love coming to work on this beautiful property, and the guest reviews we receive on our customer service skills speaks for itself.  I can honestly say I think I've found my forever job here at Ste Annes and am so excited to learn and grow through out the company.
