I worked for Access Storage. The pay is very, very low for the expectations. After 8 weeks of intense training (myself and the other 3 people I saw in training went home in tears a minimum of once) customers are being screwed over and you take the brunt of their anger without any support from management. The rental increases, issues with maintenance and other problems are your responsibility and you have no way to make it better. In my experience, you work by yourself or with a tiny staff of burnt out, frustrated workers. If something goes wrong, management sides with customers no matter what and you’re stuck proving yourself over and over again. You do everything from sales, maintenance, collections, and customer support while getting paid much less than even the maintenance teams that we had that (in my region) had to be chased for months to do anything at all. Very little chance to move up or progress and being a site manager and district manager gets you tons more work with very little benefits. Because of how it’s set up, so much is on one persons shoulders that everyone is on edge and tense at all times and the company culture is very negative. I’ve found pipes and drugs in the bathroom, people living in units, police interactions and other high stress situations constantly. When you get to a point of auctioning a unit it’s a study into mental illness and struggles in the world which can be really depressing and frustrating. When COVID hit, nothing really changed besides the masks and because you were there with no one or little staff, enforcing the few rules we had was extremely difficult. If you’re desperate for a job, go for it. But if you have any other options, take them.

Over the time I've been part of this organization, I've experienced an immeasurable amount of personal and professional growth, which I attribute to the supportive and dynamic culture we've all cultivated together.

When I first started the team was great as was management. It was fun, fast pace, and enjoyable! A few weeks in, a few team members would loudly discuss other team members so that everyone could hear it - went to management many times and they asked me what I was doing to cause it and refused to move my desk so I didn't have to listen to them say horrible things abut me.

A few months go by, and management starts working us all a lot harder. 12 hour days..6 days a week..

And from there they just got progressively abusive. Not allowed to go to the bathroom or you'll come back to 12 emails and 4 missed skypes asking you where you are, "It's not a script! You just talk to them naturally!" but you'd get in trouble if you didn't follow the script while on call, constantly calling you into the office one week to say how fantastic you are and then next week to tell you that you're going to lose your job, obsessively screening our calls and punishing us if it wasn't perfect, asking for selfies when you're in the ER to prove it, making you work 2-3 weeks straight because they messed up the schedule, firing good staff, saying one thing and then retracting it and then saying it again and then retracting it and then getting mad at employees for being confused...

Now they have no staff and hiring at $16 an hour (a whole $2 jump from when I left two months ago) because they know management is so horrible and ALL of their staff left them.

DO NOT WORK HERE. IT WILL NOT BE DIFFERENT FOR YOU. THERE IS A REASON 15 EMPLOYEES HAVE LEFT IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS.

Completed the two part interviewing process with HR and Regional manager. Interviewing process was in-depth, and I was given details about day-to-day expectations, as well as information regarding job advancement and benefits. Was job offered after formal background check, and am loving the position. All of the information presented to me during the interview process has been incredibly accurate, and the training program was the most in-depth and informative process that I've ever had at a job. At the end of it I felt completely prepared for my position! The workplace culture is inclusive and fun, and all of upper management that I've interacted with have been very supportive and welcoming. I appreciate how open and straightforward feedback is, and every day I truly feel appreciated in my position. It is a company with a lot of black and white processes, but there is still a very human element to the services and options we are able to provide. Clients have been awesome to interact with, and the job itself is challenging in the best way. Every day is a little bit different, and can be super rewarding!

A typical work day involves finding solutions to the clients needs, resolving client issues regarding payments and payment options, following up on reporting issues and maintaining the facility in good order.

What I have learned in this job is that you never stop learning, my organization is constantly striving to improve things for both the clients and the workforce they employ.

The management for this organization provide us with the tools and training to succeed  then allows us to do just that.

I have worked for many corporations in my long career and this one has by far the best workplace culture of any corporation I have worked for.

Probably the hardest part of my job as a site manager, is on those rare occasions when I am unable to find a solution or resolve an issue myself, however this company has multiple avenues available to assist me in resolving these issues.

The most enjoyable part of the job for me personally is being able to assist a client in finding a solution for their problem, often we are dealing with people who are very stressed out over what brought them to us in the first place and helping them relieve that stress or at least part of it is very satisfying to me.

Since the day I started everyone was welcoming and friendly.

I like that they have a paid 6 week training program so you don't get overwhelmed, and everyone was more than happy to answer any questions I had.

They have really great benefits for meds, dental, and eyes in my experience.

This is one company that views empathy as a strength, and you can see it with the people you work with. If you ever need help with anything, you know you can rely on your team.

Update:
After being with the company for a few years, there are some serious drawbacks.  There are little to no raises, and I had to beg once a week for over a year to even get a meeting to discuss performance, and I ended up only getting a $1 raise.  It was embarrassing being a store manager and not being able to afford groceries.

They ask for positive employee reviews while you are still training, and have not fully experienced the job.

I am still grateful for some of the people I have worked for and with, and the benefits have helped immensely.  When I first started, I did feel welcomed and supported.  There are plenty of places for improvement, mainly with head office and upper management.  It is so easy to get burnt out really fast.

I felt I could be really great at this job and thrive in the position but my manager was a scatter brain. Always too busy, ignored my messages. Their method of training was throw you in and each mistake you make is a learning experience but in reality, this just takes a toll on your mental health. Lots of attitude and micromanagement but only at random times. I could not keep up with the mood swings. The absolute worst part was the victimization that came from employees oh I'm so overwhelmed I help me with this until your pile never ends cuz you are busy helping everyone but no one has "time to help you" if I can manage my time why can't you? Also, I would always get an excuse, oh well u can't teach an old dog new tricks. Well if you compare yourself to a dog that's one problem the other becomes in a world that's evolving if you can't keep up leave the workforce and let others lead who can adapt to change.

It was also impossible to speak up because every single person loved to talk and talk but not one person could listen or even reply to a message properly like actually reading it and responding instead they'd just reply with something that was useless and a waste of time it became routine to avoid asking for help until I eventually just quit cuz I was set up for failure.

Training was decent even though it was online.  My trainer was super nice. As soon as we got to the floor, first week was okay with ample amount of support but after that you're a goner. Support agents were mostly non-existent or outright rude. It's been normal for agents a month or two after training to still have questions but the support agents make it seem like you should know everything at day 1. They promoted people to be support agents for us to just ask our peers instead. 

Lowkey company frowns upon agents who doesn't hard sell, if clients are just asking around you are pressured to book a reservation and compare your stats to the top agents every week. It's not always you get interested clients some people are just shopping around and most of the time they dont even have containers available in the area.

Was fired when I told them that the support agent was rude and told them I was going to submit my 30 day notice but fired me before hand.

Would not recommend working here. 


I have been emloyed by StorageVault for just over two years now. Honestly, I thought this would be a 'filler' job until something better came along but I am still here with no plans to leave. 

The job can at times be stressfull, needing quick decision making abilities as well as strong time management skills but you will work with some of the best people out there. Many of my colleagues have become my friends over the past two years. 

As with any job, there is going to be the odd thing you either don't like or don't agree with. I have never felt censored or isolated by the company or my direct supervisors. The corporate culture promotes openess and as long as you approach your colleagues or managers with respect and a willingness to listen you can certainly get things off your chest. 

There is also a stong focus on continous improvement both in your role with the company and personally, with discounted gym memberships, access to virtual seminars and things like that. 

 


What is the best part of working at the company?
Helping clients find stirage units, and asnwering any questions they may have is the best part of working at depotium. You can meet a wide range of people, including colleagues but especially in the clientele. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Upper management is not supportive if ever something unprofessional happens. They focus on protecting the company or their position, rather than understanding and caring for employee concerns. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Just make sure you focus on your tasks, and don't get too involved in politics. The work culture in 2023 downtown isn't optimal, especially in upper management. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Help clients find appropriate unit, answer incoming calls, make follow-up and collection calls, explain user agreement, create accounts and accounts, take part in company meetings. Do assessments, several assessments.
