Best part of my day was working with a great group of nice, hard-working people.  The second best part of the day is a fast pace with lots to do.  I like that.   The worst part of my day is repeatedly being reminded of how little regard upper management actually has for their people.  Very substandard training procedures; many people become frustrated and leave before the end of probation.  There is a prevailing attitude that the staff are unintelligent, low-value, interchangeable carbon units to be consumed like any other product such as toilet paper.   Orders come down from 'on high' in another province with no consultation or support to carry out the 'decree'; completely out of touch with the locations in Alberta.  No regular reviews to gain feedback or discuss issues because that creates opportunity to discuss a pay increase.  Every single member of my team, including me, were not given the raises promised to them.  Nor is there much recognition for extra effort.  Again, if you say it you may have to pay it.   
So difficult to leave my team behind, but felt I had no choice after having discussed matters repeatedly with the entire management team only to end up convinced that they don't care what happens to their people, and will never change because they 'know' they are 'right'.

If you are an experienced driver with a good driving record, run, as fast as you can in the opposite direction. 

The pay looks good on paper (especially the Seattle area run) but most of your time is taken up with looking for empty trailers, local deliveries, traffic on the hiways, and border crossings.  It is not unheard of to run out of hours of service before completing your day.  All the company truck are slip seat (shared) and there is no waiting time at the terminal or at the customers. 

Drivers are always racing each other to be first in line and taking unassigned loads to get home faster causing those behind to wait even longer. 

Dispatch lacks communication with each other and with drivers. Dispatch will also urge you to run outside the hours of service and I’ve even been told to turn off my ELD while working.

Down to is a lack of respect from the dispatchers and management and between drivers. 

A new repacking operation, and when I say "new," I mean completely new. Most people don't even understand how the repacking machine works. It was down about 95% of the time, and as soon as people walked in, they would regularly walk out. Training was virtually non-existent, and there was no communication with the night shift. They were often left in the dark on many aspects until they made a significant mistake, at which point they were blamed because apparently they were expected to know everything magically without any direct communication.

Management was okay, but they offered no real solutions for the frequent downtimes and were quick to blame the workers as if it were the employees' fault that they weren't properly trained on a machine they had never used. When the machine did work, it was considered a miracle, and the job involved repetitively feeding a conveyor with cans.

This is a fantastic place to gain experience in the industry. Paid well, friendly dispatchers and drivers, cool office, etc. Good benefits for the most part, and you can tell that they care about their employees and want to help them do their best no matter what even on a hard day. The overall company culture is very team-oriented which I also liked, they do have a unique sense of image. Constant work was a plus.  I found the office staff are friendly and helpful.

However, I will say that it is a high-intensity company to work for and that certainly has weeded out many people over the years - by no means is it a walk in the park, the gears turn quickly but it is worth it for the great experience opportunities in my opinion.

Stryder's been a great company to drive for since I joined nearly a year ago. They maintain a solid relationship between dispatch and drivers, and information is clearly communicated. 

I was set up with a reliable truck when I started, plus the few times I ran into issues with my equipment they repaired or replaced my equipment quickly and without complaint. 

I've worked for companies before that pressure you to "manage your books", have a toxic environment, and point fingers when equipment issues arise - I've experienced none of this at Stryder and am really grateful that I feel respected in my role. 

To anyone looking for a driving job that offers consistent employment with solid benefits and pay, I recommend checking out Stryder. 

Work there is flexible and they will work you whether they have you skill level or not. ie: if you drive a 10 hour turn around with LCV daily and they have no LCV available for you they will find you work to do even if it’s pick up and delivery in the city. Management has open door policy and are nice to work for. Decent benefits. All around a good company to work for and I recommend working for them.

You will be disrespected and emotionally abused on a regular basis. Turnover is daily. The only way they get people to stay here long term is to break their will so they will never believe they could do any better. The management is full of mentally ill sociopaths who could never survive in the real world. It’s all a front. They may offer you what seems like a decent wages and a fancy office but trust me you’ll regret the day you step foot inside this disgusting environment. All departments are equally as mismanaged. Take my word on this and just keep scrolling. This is not worth it even short term unless you want a serious risk of permanent trauma!

This company has no respect for workers. They will push you to break Hours Of Service Laws Continually. 
If you tell the dispatcher that you do not have the Hours to complete the trip, you are told that you should turn in your plates. 
They will tell you Lies to get you in the door. But once you sign on, things change Immediately. The rates are not Industry Best. Dispatcher will tell Manager that you are not Cooperating and you will be taken in to a meeting where Nothing you say is believed. You will be expected to Drive around Vancouver, Edmonton and all other locations searching for empty trailers for your next load at your own cost and time.

While I was there, everyone seemed really nice and pleasant.  The environment was really fast paced with I loved.  I am not one for a slow mundane day... so this was right up my alley, tackling each assignment one at a time. I was put into a billing position in which I have never done before, but was getting the hang of it and had the eye for detail, catching little things here and there. Overall it was a good learning experience.

Drivers are monitored by camera, which making uncomfortable and pressured atmosphere. Management should update dispatchers skills to be more into assistance of drivers. Dispatchers are most of time useless. So much paperwork for drivers. Drivers are mostly beginners without good training and a lot of accidents in the winter time.
