As an install employee at Stubbes Precast I will not sugar coat it for those looking to come work on the install teams. It is hard work, long hours, all weather conditions. If you can overcome all this though and are looking for an amazing career opportunity with plenty of potential to grow in a company then Stubbes may be for you. I have 15 years experience working construction and working for many different companies and Stubbes shines when it comes to how they treat their employees. The pay is good, overtime hours are plenty, RRSP program, benefits, boot and clothing allowances. The owner and management are always available and willing to work with you and answer any questions. Overall, if you can look past the normal hard work that construction is then it is a great place to work. You generally start with a crew and stay with them and build your experience on that crew, it's a very family based, inviting atmosphere if you are open and willing to show the motivation necessary. Hopefully this helps with anyone thinking of coming to work at Stubbes

As a Wet-Cast Laborer, we built all concrete columns, beams, and walls in house. We built up the forms with wood; to get the exact measurement given. Then rebar was added, to give strength. "Lift Clutch's" were then installed so the panel could be lifted and placed onto the truck. Concrete is poured into the panel and then shook into place. Ensuring no air bubbles or corners are left without concrete. After we used a "Screed" board to level and smooth out the surface. The panels are then given 12-16 hours to cure and harden.
While I worked there I learned a great deal of safety, heavy machinery, teamwork, and hand held tool skills. I operated a large front-end loader, overhead crane and fork trucks of various sizes.
The hardest part of the job would be the early start time and long days; but you were well rewarded.
The most enjoyable part of the job would be the amount of skills I learned and the crew I worked with.

As a wetcast general laborer you start the day stripping the wood off of the previous days poured panels and lift them off the bed to start setting up wooden forms for that days pour. You are required to install chamfer and reveal strips then oil the sides of the form and bottom of the bed. a rebar cage is then lifted into the form and various inserts and/or plates are installed. after half the bed is set up you can start pouring. some workers are required to stay and trowel the concrete while the rest of the crew cleans up. The hours can be long when production is busy and really short at other times it didn't seem steady at all. the wages for a concrete related company are not competitive with other companies in the area. I liked most of the people I worked with and the part I enjoyed most about this job was stripping panels.

Typical day at my job would be tired and mentally exhausted from being moved around while underpaid and no moral support i’ve learned that in order to move up and get better pay you have to be part of there religion and beliefs or you are very frowned upon. Management is all the same on your back about every little thing and minor inconvenience. the management shows 0 moral support or gives any compliments on any sort of work unless done by a liked employee. The hardest part is to stay mentally stable and wake up knowing it’s another day dealing with this stuff and working 50hours a week being paid not to well for the labour we are doing. 

You will be given a lot of work and not a lot of guidance, so you better be able to hit the ground running and figure things out for yourself.  If you like a fast, stressful work environment where you are surrounded by good people, this is the place for you.  There's very little office politics, thank goodness, and people are respected and taken care of.  They try to promote a family atmosphere, which gets harder as the number of employees grows, but they succeed for the most part.  Training leaves much to be desired and the people you would usually go to for help are often very busy but management is forgiving as long as you show that you are working.  Not a bad place to work overall.

They value your person and will find the best fit for you. They're always looking for better ways to manage the teams and make it a better place. Came with very little knowledge on a co-op, learned/taught a lot, loved it, and stuck around. Has a good and relaxed vibe around the office with unlimited coffee. Extra time worked over the salary hours gets payed out twice a year, for hourly workers, you get overtime. If you can work hard and do your part you can advance in a solid career here.

Great atmosphere at Stubbes, they keep you as busy as they can during the slower months. I have Great co-workers and this being a pretty big family run operation, the management team goes out of their way to ensure you're never a number. The owner will walk around and say hello to you and remember your name. I wish I found Stubbes earlier on to work at. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The company culture is fantastic. They expect hard work but also completely trust you. Also real fun environment with the staff.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Results are expected. You must have a sincere desire to work and produce for the company.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very driven and focused, but still embrace the fun and most importantly family orientated side of things. They will always try to accomdate for your family and home life.

Extremely hard on the body. I mean your whole body will always hurt. Not worth it for the pay. Don’t expect to have a life working here. 6 am till 5 pm. Unpaid lunches. And they expect over time. Working 110 hours every two weeks and taxes well over a grand every pay. 

Unless you wanna work your life away and have your entire body age fast and hurt don’t work here not worth it. 


Randomly they will give u free lunches for breaking records lmao… 



A typical day starts at 5:00 or 6:00 depending on which department you are in . I myself start at 5:00 ,which is too early for my liking . I have learned how to operate machinery such as forklifts, gantry cranes, shunt trucks, and overhead cranes.The hardest part of the job is the physical exertion required to complete the task but the most enjoyable aspect would be the friendly people you get to work with.
