Suncreek Village

On a typical day at Suncreek Village, I would do a quick round of the facility to ensure that residents were safe in their beds in the morning.  After, I would do report and communicate with the previous nurse and discuss about any changes with the residents.  I would then plan out what I should do for the day and start on giving out the morning medications in a safe manner, as well as handing out the breakfast to the residents in the dining room.  In situations when unexpected things happen during administrating medication I would have to prioritize my care and work efficiently.  I would then document on certain residents if anything unusual happens to them.  I would do wound dressings on certain residents as scheduled.  On a normal day I would typical administer medications, assess certain residents when necessary, and document unusual occurrences. However, I would also write doctor’s orders, refill medications by informing the pharmacies and collaborate with the health care team.  I learned that being able to prioritize tasks and to communicate is important because it guarantees the safety and well-being of not only the residents, by myself as well.  The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing that the residents are satisfied with my care and when the express that they enjoy my company.

Just as in any other facility, the day typically includes assisting the clients in their ADL's with the addition of interest based activities designed specific to their needs. I learned the important task of setting priorities, effective communication with the staff as well as recognizing my own limitations.
The staff was very patient and eager to assist me in every way possible; as well as guiding me and correcting me, where needed. Time management was the most difficult part of the job which only got corrected during my next practicum

•	Assists residents with day-to-day hygiene, including washing and grooming
•	Helps residents with daily living by assisting at mealtimes or feeding when necessary
•	Maintains and notes patients' weights, vital signs, and other specific issue. Restocked carts, made rounds to check on patients and provided them with anything they need
•	Ordered and put away supplies, stocked medicines, filed, made copies, and performed other tasks as needed
•	Kept patients’ company with entertainments, games, and conversations
•	Assist with transferring residents in and out of wheelchairs and adaptive equipment.

A typical day at work is enjoyable and rewarding. I have learned how hard I can work and how much I can multitask. Managment will take the time to listen and discuss and issues. Managment is also kind. My co workers are very accepting. They know when to be serious and know when to have a good time. The hardest part is seeing some residents not wanting to participate in exercises but the most enjoyable part is seeing others do things that they werent able to do before.

Love my job , taking care of residents make me feel proud to be apart of Suncreek village. Also management and staff are absolutely amazing. Have been employed for multiple years here and don’t plan on changing anytime soon it is a perfect fit for me and my family.

Working as full scope nurse in extended care facility. Multitasking in fast paced environment, resident centred care, providing homely environment in multicultural resident population.

A really healthy community and an amazing place to learn skills also they really take good care of the elderly people there and know what their preferences are and will make sure that they feel it home in the nursing home.

Poor management. Owners children run the facility, have no manners and respect for the staff. Ran as a business not as a safe home for residents. Residents are not put first. Managements lacks communication and respect. 

I love working at suncreek village. I like how they provide opportunities to newly graduates and students. I have got the chances to practice a lot of skills and gained confidence.
