Sunridge Ski Area

Sunridge Ski Area is a great place to work as a ski instructor, on a typical day you put your gear on and the Snow School Director briefs the staff on how many students/schools are coming that day for ski lessons, including their age range. Once the students are ready you will learn how to hand out/fit them with ski equipment and eventually go outside to meet the group of students that you are assigned to teach that day. One learns how to multi-task as you will carry out different tasks with your group of students. The work place culture is upbeat and positive as management is always ready to answer questions or help to solve a problem(s). The hardest part of the job is teaching students who have never skied before and the most enjoyable part is when you see your students make progress in their 
ability to ski the basics on their own accord.

Started as a unpaid "apprentice" instructor at 14 and am still loving after 5 winters, I've been given the opportunity to work my way up thought the years building some of the greatest friendships I could imagine.  Regardless of the pay your given a staff pass to allow full access to the hill witch makes it entirely worth it in my opinion. Hours are extremely flexible as management has set up a way you can drop/pick up a shift on the staff website. I've been working full time through two winters and know many who go to school full time aswell

Awesome people to work with and it put a smile on my face every time I was there. There were some issues because of the distance and the limited hours because you could only teach up to four lessons a day, which would be 4 hours. But most days I only had 2 lessons. I would be called in to work at 10 am in case someone wanted a private lesson and if no one did, I wouldn't get paid and have to be there my whole day because of the distance from my home. But overall I enjoy working there.

Management, directors and more senior instructors seem to genuinely care about helping you become a better ski teacher. There are always incredibly high-quality training events going on for staff throughout the season to prepare them for certification courses and improve personal teaching and skiing skills. Wage is fair for a high school student.

Everyone I worked with quickly became friends and worked together to get tasks done. It’s like a big family.

A fairly stress free job, stand in a shack or outside and press the stop and start buttons when ever required. Learned how to help smaller children load and unload ski lifts. The hardest part of the job would be working in the cold/windy conditions.

Management is awesome. Which is rare. They are laid back, understand that employees have lives, and are great to be around. 

It was one of the most fun and least stressful jobs I have had, though of course it pays minimum wage (or a buck or two more, depending on experience). But worth it for the daily access to the hill.

Amazing place to work, managers were very caring about your needs with scheduling. Coworkers were amazing and every shift was enjoyable. Training was excellent and never left you confused or not sure of what was going on.

i love the work environment and that you get to on the snow all the time and that you get to snowboard every day.that you get to meet new people every time you go in to work and maybe see people that you have seen on previous days.
