The work day began with staff meeting, which included safety awareness both post accident and preventative measures.Then moved onto outlining the workflow for the day. I would then  look into the current inventory procurement's, for the day. Deal with new requests from the team and maintain inventory values. I learned and met the challenges of working in an onsite remote location. 
   The lack of experience in upper management in this field of production was not up to industry standards, which became the hardest part of the job having to deal with the lack of direction from upper management.
    Working with middle management and the technical staff was the most enjoyable as this was the most positive, experienced, goal orientated,supportive,  work group I have worked with in my career.

Sunshine was a bit of a challenge in the beginning as my position was new for this organization. The position required a great deal of patience and willingness to teach employees about fiscal responsibility and restraint. I loved my job and the responsibilities that went with it. I enjoyed the challenges and my coworkers. The most negative part of working there was the constant threat of no money and lay offs.

This was a tough job as a manager, we were on COD accounts. Not only did I improve morale, safety, enviroment issues, and cut costs, I was able to make massive improvements there. I had to cut costs,  cut people, improve the bottom line, all well managing a huge debt load from 2014. I made Sunshine fun for the people and they all worked hard for me, and I earned their respect. It took awhile to earn trust as they had been through a lot of wage cuts, but in the end they bought into my program and we did well.

What best part ! Stay away ! Payments month behind schedule !

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being paid on time lacking, no company recognition .

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Operations and Maintenance communications skill extremely high, others to on other hand - nil 👎 !

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Walking on thin ice 🧊 year round , not safe !

Worked as a class 1 driver for them for 3 months. Yes they bought a nice new truck, but they refused to fix anything on the 10 year old trailers we were using yo haul oil with. Manager complained and tried very hard not to pay any overtime hours even when you followed the request of getting approval to work overtime. I do not recommend working here as they have No one on staff who understands or cares about the Transport laws and regulations.

This is by far one of the worst places you will ever work. They offer you nothing but broken promises. Pay for 2024 has been on average 12-14 days late and they think it is acceptable to treat people this way. Management team is so grossly incompetent it isn’t even funny. 

In contracting for Sunshine Oilsands for the few months I was there, I found that their management is very disorganized and contracts mean nothing.  My co-workers were awesome.  Hardest part of the job was waiting to see if your paycheques would bounce.  :(  Overall, not a good company to work for.

Although worked at Sunshine for short period of time I found the team at Sunshine highly motivating with sound business plan. I was able to provide improvements to company project control procedures

great place to work.  People were friendly and engaging even with the stress of the downturn in the economy. During the summer the Fridays of all long weekends were given as a day off.

For the changes in place the operators are holding it together pretty good. Plant is nice to work with, just wished corporate understood how oil is shipped and prioritized there understanding of the business.
