I have enjoyed working with switzercarty for past 5 years and definitely recomending other people to join,very friendly and respectful environment. 
Great management team and safety team.
Great trainers very helpful and supportive. 
They motivate you to improve and never let you down. Hardest part of this job is winter driving in a poor weather condition.  You have to perform circle check for 15 minutes,  bus takes atleast 30 minutes on top to warm up so if you are thinking to drive a school bus you have to stay in cold for atleast 45 minutes in winter and summer time when it's 30 degrees or more and you have to drive without an air conditioning  that's when you have to be  strong and focused.most enjoyable part of this job when kids loves you and hugs you and admires you for driving them to school and to their homes. You are a hero and you feel so proud of your self after.

Nothing was the worst company ive ever worked for most toxic environment created by the regional manager 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The company sets you up for failure right from the top. We didnt have enough busses to make runs and they sent me busses from other divisions with rotten floors expecting me to put my license on the line fixing them

Terrible my previous job the manager tried to fight me multiple times and this was still the most toxic workplace I've ever been at. Constant finger pointing when you cant overcome the ridiculous obstacles they place in your way

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Putting out fires that should be someone else's job since I wasnt paid to be management

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people are awesome. The equipment is well maintained. The kids are fabulous and there is no better of an opportunity to contribute and give back than driving a school bus.

The traffic that you deal with every day. Take your time. Don't rush and just keep the focus to the kids. Smile and enjoy.

The work environment and culture is all about safety (yours and the children you transport).

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Pre-trip vehicle. follow route to pick up children. Safely drop them at their destination. Return at specified time and take the children back home.

Only school bus company offering benifits and life ins.  Min daily pay is $72 no matter which size bus or route you get.  Larger routes pay more plus extra pay for charters.  Good equipment, training and work environment

It depends on you and how you deal with people and situations

Family atmospgere with a large multi regiobal company. Over 1600 school buses on the road

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Morning done by nine anout 2 hours then a few hours after 2 p.m.  They help you park your bus as close to home as possible to keep your daily work expenses low

The job was decent when I first started. Co-workers that work there can be helpful and friendly. The pay structure is different. Most companies pay weekly or bi-weekly. This company pays semi-monthly. CEO of the company is one of the best people you can ever meet. It's a shame not all management within the company have the same attitude as the CEO. Some employees are very competitive with each other in this company which can be very discouraging. Some employees in the company segregated into groups which can cause confusion and being disrespectful to other groups or each other. There is NO paid time off (vacation), no tool allowance and certain holidays you are forced to take off with no pay. The choice is yours!

The staff is so supportive  it makes you wonder why u worked any where else

Making sure you have all you students on board .

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The best support in formation and full assistance. Instructions maps even an offer to physically drive the route with you.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start1 hour before first pick up, with drivers pretrip and engine check. Open windows if hot in bus or turn on full heat if cold.
Check first pick up location check mirrors and seat position. Start off to first pickup

School bus drivers work split shifts with approximately 2 hour runs in the morning and early afternoon. Sometimes you can run charters in the middle of the day (ie. school trips).
Overall the job pays poorly and has a lot of responsibilities and training requirements . The job tends to draw good  people who want to do right by the kids. 
The culture isn’t great. There is a lot of corporate training mandates that feel punitive and unnecessary. Management is a mixed bag but your coworkers are good people. The culture is very much CYA so don’t expect management to back you up. If anything the drivers get thrown under the bus.


I was able to bring my baby daughter on the bus,while I was pregnant they catered to my needs while hauling a baby and belly around. Welcomed me back with open arms, made my route accessible so I could drop my older kids at school in my route and pick them up. I’ve transferred from Mississauga to Oakville, my kids school is not in their contracts but they are covering me until I can get daycare and before and after school situated. I’ve never worked for such understanding and amazing people. I owe them so much for everything they have done for me. That is my experience.

A lot of my friends have been working at Switzer for many years but I decided always to stay where I was. I felt by doing this I showed my loyalty - but the company never showed their loyalty to me so I finally decided to join Switzer. I am sooooo happy I did. I work with friends now afgain and feel like it is such a family environment. So many personal touches and these people know busing and really care -- they are not driven by corporate profit like where I worked before. Thank you for making my new job so nice. Great staff / management and owner.
