Flying itself is great. Compensation as a FA with Swoop is well below the poverty line. It is impossible for anyone to survive off this job alone, you will need a second job. But again, you'll be lucky if you can make a 2nd job work considering the bidding system is corrupt and is not seniority based as they claim. Many of your days consists of 12 hour days for a 5 hour pay. Think of this: You worked 12 hrs, you are being paid for 5hrs. MANY of these days are in your schedule. There are no layovers so it's impossible to make per diem. Many people are quitting because of the working conditions here. It is only once you get in that you start noticing the problems. There is also a toxic reporting culture here and it is encouraged by leaders. All in all, the worst is the compensation. Don't remotely think you'll make any type of living here or that travel privileges are worth it. A free flight means nothing when you can't afford hotels, car rentals, food, etc. A lot of unpaid time and shady higher ups.

I have never worked at a company that has such poor customer service. Our customers were on hold 3 to 4 hours and management is like whatever, if they hang up we beat them! Working at the call center we would get absolutely trashed on the phone and the reality is the customers are right, this company screws people over. It's pathetic and middle/upper management is all in on it. They must get bonused on the fees we were stealing from customers, because no one cared if we answered emails, it was a game some reps played to "accidentally" hang up on people when they called in to complain because they knew they would be on hold for another 3 hours when they called back in. 
DO NOT work here, I was embarrassed to tell people I worked for Swoop and when friends of friends found out I did, they always asked why the customer service was so poor. How do you answer that...."ah well, because they train us that way and don't care about their clients".

LOW FARE - LOW CARE was the motto in our call centre.   


Management couldnt care less about frontline workers (they have been heard talking bad about flight attendants) even though they started out as flight attendants too. They never have your back for anything and will always quote our contract which is not well written. If youre not a day 1'er or instructor they dont care and youre just a number. There is a facebook page for FAs and its soo toxic and everyone is petty calling each other out for small things. Crew scheduling makes your life miserable. You will work 14 hour days with 10 hours rest in between and only get paid for 9 or 10 hours. You cant plan your days off for the fear you might get stuck somewhere. The pay is $26 for flying hours and you only get 80 flying hours a month so its works out to a little more than minimun wage. Save yourself the stress, burnout, and mistreatment and work ANYWHERE else!!

If you have never worked in the airline industry let me be the 1st to tell you the industry may seem huge but it is very small. Today’s ground handle could be your supervisor and a cabin groomer a Flight Attendant. Having said that do be kind to those you meet along the way because you never know who may be sitting in your next interview making the decision if your a good fit for the company!
I have had the opportunity to work for other airlines and I can say Swoop’s open door policy not to mention managements willingness to listen to ideas from frontline staff and immediate implementation is unmatched! The one complaint is that compensation is on lower side of the pay spectrum. I would have to agree but our flight benefits make it so worth it!
I enjoy working at Swoop and I truly think work life balance is on point. Overall I would encourage everyone that understands the service to apply and take a chance with us, you will not be disappointed!

Swoop is a great airline if you are just starting in this industry. If you prefer to come home the same night to your family and bed then this is the perfect airline. There aren’t many layovers and the pay can be better. Because swoop is a smaller airline but growing rapidly your seniority will sky rocket and there is a lot of room for growth within this company. You have access to great travel benefits with westjet. 

I've been working with Swoop for over a year now and it is like working for a family. The job itself is super fun and constantly learning the ways, rules and regulations of aviation and company policies.  When there is an issue management adresses it asap.  The hardest part of the job are long hours vs what you actually get paid. If you have time on your hands to give up some hours and not get paid (such is the aviation industry) and want a variety day to day on the job and not working a 9-5,  Then I'd say GO FOR IT... working out of the Hamilton airport is easy, quick and convenient.
GO SWOOP!

Training is 4-5 weeks with in-class learning and the last week consists of you heading off to head office in Calgary. Typically you only have 40-50 minutes for each turn, giving you little down time when on the job, especially after you groom (clean) the aircraft. On the plus side, you'll often be able to spend time with your friends and family more than you think. On average you'll work between 70-90 hours a month with minimal layovers. Travel benefits are great and are shared with WestJet.

If you’ve ever considered being a flight attendant, don’t hesitate. DO IT
It was my absolute dream job. Swoop gave me the opportunity to fly without speaking French which is a requirement at almost all Canadian airlines. I’ll be forever grateful to Swoop and if the opportunity arises, I will absolutely work for them again!

I loved my time at swoop, my coworkers were amazing. I can’t say the same for management. The unprofessional runs deep in this company. They luck favourites and it shows. They passive aggressively threaten people when issues are brought forward. Also they pay is unliveable without a second job. If you break it down per hour actually worked, it is below minimum wage and below the poverty line.

Working at swoop seemed like a good thing in the beginning. Unfortunately, the lack of pay, long hours, no work life balance, clicky people, No support from the management along with Their bullying. HR did not even do a thing to support the individuals. Favourites are picked all the time. You come home exhausted. They also hire people with lack of experience and don’t hire based on education.
