My time at SysGen has been a joy, and it is a refreshing change of environment moving to SysGen from internal IT.

While my days are busier, I find that staying busy keeps me motivated and productive. Coming from internal IT, where I was able to learn a lot about procedures, policies, and best practices, working at SysGen still allows me to learn differences other companies operate.

With the large variety of tasks, clients, and coworkers I have worked with I have learned the importance of having experienced team members that help you grow and learn. 

At times, working in internal IT can feel like you are not part of the company as your co-workers in different departments may treat you like you are not a part of the company (e.g. they are the customer and you are there just to help them); Working at SysGen, you interact with your team and others in the company as if you are part of a team. The events and team activities work to build your teamwork with goals to make everyone feel included.

Coworkers and managers have been helpful in trying to help me grow constantly, while also ensuring that I am successful and comfortable where I am at.

However, the hardest part would be the workload, my days are generally busy with little time to rest. This allows me to meet my goals, but also can leave you drained if you are not prepared for the amount of work the role requires. I like to stay busy, so this is perfect for me. Although there are times I would not mind a more relaxing day where I can work on tasks without rushing to assist someone else. This takes time and finding a good work life balance can be difficult if you are not able to take your mind off of work.

By far though, the best part of working at SysGen is the culture and conversing with other team members. You are able to learn a lot and feel a sense of belonging and purpose with how you are helping the company. 

While the base pay can appear low compared to some other companies, the benefits/commission upon reaching your goals makes up for them.

A typical day at work for me involves going to client sites. I work partially in the office and partially at other offices that my clients provide. My first job of the day is to respond to any new tickets that came in after hours the night previous and then work through my meetings and tickets. SysGen TAE's are customer-facing, this is NOT a helpdesk model, which personally works well for me but if you're interested in hiding behind a keyboard, this might not be the job for you. I greet clients when I'm on site and build relationships with them are more than just about answering tickets or talking about technology. Management is busy and they frequently struggle to deal with building long-term solutions because there are so many day-to-day requests that need their attention but they prioritise employee communication at least. The hardest part of the job and the most enjoyable part of the job, for me, are the same - client management. It's hard sometimes to be the face of the company and be boots on the ground, but it's also very satisfying to solve problems for the client and receive all the glory when you've cracked a particularly difficult or recurring problem. Workplace culture is probably the best part here. There will always be coworkers you struggle to get along with but I genuinely enjoy most of mine and it makes the day go much smoother when there are people you can rely on to help you solve problems or get things done. 

The model is that you are assigned clients for which you are the main technician. This part is great because you can get to know an environment and all it's nuances. You're expected to be available to these clients 24/7, and that's is very hard on mental health. I once had a call on Christmas day during the family meal and got in trouble for telling the customer they would have to wait until I was finished. That was the beginning of the end for me. SysGen should have stood up for me but I was given a verbal warning. I never quite got over that. The pay,  surprisingly is quite good. I know some complain about a lack of raises, but most technicians have no official designation or formal education. Those with formal education and certifications tend not to stay long as they are able to find regular 9-5 jobs that don't require them to be on-call all the time. Many blame the management for the somewhat toxic culture, but most of the managers seem beaten into submission and just deliver the messages they are told. I think those new to the field and eager to learn have a lot to gain from working here, but should do so with a game plan to suck up knowledge and get out within 2-4 years. I quietly earned an MCSE on my own and moved on. I'm thankful for the time I was there and what I learned, but consider it like working at McDonalds. It's something you do to get a little experience, move on, and don't look back. 

MSPs are a different space. The work environment is fast-paced, with constant exposure to different client sites, configurations, and environments. You’re forced to adapt, learn quickly, and fill in knowledge gaps on the fly. You can’t coast by, you have to work. 

However, SysGen is different. As a whole, they care about their employees. On-call rotations are optional, you can turn your phone off at 5, bonus structure, double dip vacation(which is pretty amazing!) and you’re surrounded by coworkers who are helpful, willing, and kind. SysGen is a people company, not just IT. You’re face-to-face with clients, greeting them, making conversations, and happily hearing “thank you,” whenever you help someone with their problem.

You learn something new every single day. You grow, make mistakes, and grow again. Some mornings you think, oh geez, today is going to be packed with tickets, but... closing them brings a sense of satisfaction. You’re helping people and solving problems. The days go by fast, and you leave knowing you made a positive impact.

I think Sysgen is fantastic place to work, and I’d recommend SysGen to anyone who wants to build their IT career in an environment that values both people and growth.

A typical day involves working closely with account managers on client issues, helping to identify the right solutions for our clients’ needs, and making sure we deliver on our promise as a customer service–first company.

I spend time defining and improving processes within the department, as well as providing human and sales training to account managers to help them grow and better serve clients. I also collaborate regularly with our VP and CEO on a range of client matters, such as contract renewals, managing service expectations, and overcoming challenges.

The hardest part of the job is that there are often new initiatives and processes to develop and create, which can be both exciting and demanding.

The most enjoyable part is feeling supported by leadership and knowing that the workplace is a safe space to share ideas, raise concerns, and learn. This culture of trust and collaboration makes even the toughest challenges rewarding.

At SysGen, a typical day is fast-paced but well-structured, with clear priorities and support from both colleagues and management. There is a good balance of independent work and collaboration, which keeps things engaging.

I’ve gained valuable experience as an IT Manager, as well as improved my ability of time management and adapt to changing priorities. 
There is no micro-management of employees, which is the biggest positive factor of SysGen's culture. People are willing to help each other out, and there’s a sense of shared purpose in achieving company goals.
The most challenging part is handling tight deadlines or managing multiple priorities. While it can be demanding, it has helped me build resilience and problem-solving skills.

I enjoy working with my team. There’s also a real sense of accomplishment when projects are completed successfully and clients are happy with the results.


They are disorganized internally, there is never a process to perform tasks, no one respects any proper procedure and if there are any implemented processes, management will be the first to not follow.

Nepotism at its best. Unless you are a family member you are never rewarded. Only the family receives hefty bonuses, rewards, free trips etc. The bonus system that is merit/revenue base the rules NEVER apply to family members, they just have to show up (if they show up to work) to receive it.

There is zero work life balance. They do not care if you come in early or stay late, they expect you to work through ALL your lunch breaks. Any extra work done is never appreciated.

They start everyone off at the same pay scale regardless of your qualifications/experience.

Hardest part of the job is to deal with the family and their mood swings.

They only promote staff that are able to brown nose the family - no you do not have to show that you know your job to do that. The more inept, incompetent you are the more likely to be promoted.

Typical work day was long hours from early morning til well into the evening as they make you responsible for infrastructure that needs to be updated out of business hours, that'd be fine if they didn't also work you to the bone during business hours.
Learned lots, great place to be FROM as you are exposed to a wide variety of tech, given the large account burden they place on you. 
Some managers are dedicated to their people, but most are in on the scam. Overcharging customers to meet the budget and retroactively adjusting hours to reduce bonuses with some sort of top secret formula that seems to change each time you ask about it. 
Workplace culture was a lot of driven people, who were being pushed pretty hard to keep up. 
Time management was not well supported. They have a lot of ma/pa shops for customers and they're really bad at making them pay for things like travel. And if they don't get paid for travel, neither do you. 
Enjoyable part of the job was the technical challenges. 

Many reasons not to work here.

1 - training is next to nothing and you are left scrambling in the beginning and even throughout your time there.
2 - management does not seem to really care about its employees. If you are hurt or need to go on leave, don't expect them to support you. They will turn their back on you and fire you.
3 - you are expected to use your own vehicle and have large expenses that you don't get reimbursed for. You can claim everything on tax returns, but you remain broke or in debt while doing the job.
4 - pay structure is terrible. You get a base salary that is below most places and get a monthly commission based on your billable hours. This forces TAE's to not have a work life balance I'd they want a higher pay. 
5 - there is a lot of secrecy about client contracts (which you are supposed to know) and many other aspects of the business.
6 - benefits program is the worst I have ever seen.

SysGen has been a pretty great place to work. My role is 99.99% remote, and I really love that part. Most days I work with my coworkers on various projects and provide support for their day-to-day work around security. I have had to opportunity to move between teams to find the best fit for me. I have had managers that work with me to develop my career, give me a lot of education and provide an opportunity to grow. In addition, I have made multiple recommendations to improve security culture, and they have been adopted easily, showing SysGen is putting effort behind growing and becoming better. We are always improving our tools, and teams. Overall, I like working at SysGen. They are not top of the pay range, but the good business environment makes up for the difference.
