TIERCON

Been working as a temp for 3 months to try something new. Having fun, look forward to going every day. It will likely end as a temp situation.. although they may hire you on if they really like you and show that you have the inclination to stay there long term I think. Temp work lacks security as expected.. Any hard working person can do this job with confidence and commitment to quality/production as a whole, slacking off stands out. Overproduction = suffering quality. Managers can be bossy but that's just their job in such a fast paced environment, they kind of have to be, no harsh feelings. I like all the supervisors and managers, havent really met the plant manager but all the floor sups are really nice 
After 3 months I feel like a robot/machine and burnt out from working too hard in all honesty (started to make some critical mistakes) but I'm not complaining, learned a lot 
 If you're looking for a full time job, apply to the company before applying through a temp agency.

There is a very high turnover rate of temporary employees. Temps typically get hired on after one or more years with a small group of 3-4 people per shift, and this occurs every 4-8 months. From there job expectations increase tremendously and many employees won't make it through their probationary period, sometimes for arbitrary/questionable reasons. The union is very disorganized and not helpful with labour disputes. There is occasional downtime and occasional opportunities for overtime, which are very plentiful when overtime happens. Shifts are not too bad. 9 hours Monday to Friday alternating between days and evenings. However expectations are high and standards for quality wildly vary from day to day for some lines. Once hired the wages and benefits are decent and a welcome change the wages as a temporary employee. However there is little job security and poor management. Almost all employees are very friendly and helpful.

Tiercon is a simple enough place to work. Show up when scheduled, on time and ready to work. Do the jobs assigned to the best of your ability and everything should work out. As simple as this sounds the challenge arises due to everyone being human. Life happens, some people make bad decisions in their lifestyle and the team gets affected by those individuals. Most of the jobs are a team based process so you are only as strong as your weakest link. The challenge is that you are judged unfairly as a group. Not making targets whether there are reasons that are legitimate or not does not matter. Management thrives on pulling people into the office and vehemently expressing their thoughts on the missed production. Makes for a toxic environment. Working at Tiercon can be good when everything is working right but unfortunately that isn’t the normal circumstances.

When you come into work you must be wearing your work books that are CSA approved, as well as work gloves and glasses that can be provided for you. First every worker gathers together and the supervisor will explain what needs to be done for the day and then they'll divide everyone in groups to work at each station. You may work at the same station all day or get moved around depending on what needs to be accomplished by the end of the day. There are two 15 minute breaks and one 30 minute lunch. The hardest part of the job I'd say is the heat in the summer time. The most enjoyable part was being able to work in teams to get things done so I found it helped to make everyone work harder. The workplace culture was very diverse, people from all over the world and all ages.

Pros

Tiercon is going through some very exciting growth. The company is partnering with some very strong customers, re-investing in the equipment, the employees and most important of all Innovations to keep us competitive in the market.

From my perspective; despite the fast paced environment Tiercon Management is very supportive of family responsibilities and is flexible with us to ensure we are able to balance  all of our responsibilities.

Tiercon is of a size that allows us to expand our scope into areas we may not have normally experienced when interest is shown.


Cons

Not unlike other automotive suppliers Tiercon is fast paced with high expectations.

The People are there is working pretty nice people at overall. But the Company is not Honest with the new people, especially if you’re from Agency. 

If the Tiercon Company have not mach orders or works and you will see many Stations/Workplaces have turned off, Than they will fire you and give you a non making sense reason like ( you were slow ) So if you don’t have a enough Jobs what should I do hah ? 

The Company uses the temp agency people like Tooshpaper. As long they need you they will keep you if they don’t, than they will fire you before Stupid 3-Months Probation period. 

Never will I work there again, supervisors are totally lost in there own world , safety meeting they tell you no cell phone out on floor and they are on there phone in a corner hiding talking on there phone.  Management don't know what they even have to produce the part that you got sent to build , what a total joke. No safety at all in plant never saw such a thing in my life . Unsafe work stations, the dust you breath is incredibly no ventilation what's so ever . Please do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to work.

Tiercon is a company that hires tons of people through agencies, there is a high turnover rate of employees. When you start the day, you will be all in a line waiting for a lead hand to pick you for their group for the day. Every day you will be in a different station with a different quote to meet for the day. If you manage to learn all stations and be friends with the lead hands you will have it much easier then others. Another thing to keep in mind depending on the demand you might be send to the other side of the warehouse where they deal with motors and is a faster pace job, try not to get send there.

Do not work here. Their is rampant inequality occuring against men working in this industry. Women are paid equal to or more than men and do much less and easier work than men. The older women their are very catty and have attitudes. They are very demeaning towards temp workers. Do not work here if you are a man and is against inequality against men. On the contrary, if you are a female, this job is for you as you will be assigned the easiest jobs possible, such as folding cardboard boxes all the while being paid equal to men who work much harder.

They hire too many temps and at the beginning of shift 8 people are standing waiting to be placed  half hour later you’re placed then 4 hours later they come around asking if you want overtime. Supervisors, lead hands and quality lack communication and if you are a temp, good luck with being properly cross trained. You get told 5 different ways to do things by 5 different people. When they decide to let you go for no good reason they email the agency after hours so you look like an idiot showing up for work anyway.
