Disgusting place to work. Management in customer service tried to get staff to rat each other out. Management became bullies towards the staff and expected part time staff to be available for full time hours but would not schedule staff for more than 10-15 hours a week. Management are inconsiderate to staff who need accommodations and try to pin staff against one another. If you want a decent and respectable place to work I would look elsewhere, ajax is not the place for it

Typical day - municipality work, sit at desk and do school work. Nothing else to do. 
What you learn - Nothing. How to change paper towel and clean equipment. 
Workplace culture - Horrible. Be a “yes man” and they will like you. 
Enjoyable part of job - Siting at a desk doing school work and watching movies. 
Overall - 1/10. Stay away from fitness department. A good job if you are in school to do your school work. 

The Town of Ajax provides students and their families with great opportunities to earn volunteer hours.  The events are well advertised.  You can find out about them in the community newspaper and on community notice boards.  The best part about volunteering is that you feel really good about making a difference in your community.  And it is also nice that Town provides snacks and refreshments for the volunteers!

what you learned: obtained a great education in all areas of inspection (residential, commercial and high rise)

your co-workers; great people, team players
the hardest part of the job: when builders refused to comply with the OBC
the most enjoyable part of the job: receiving thanks and compliments from home owners

-Removing bees nests

The environment is very nice, I love the people I work with and the knowledge and experience I gain. Overall, I get to work with children in a variety of ages. I organize activites and run sports. I like the feel of the job but I think I have learned most of what I can know fromt his job. Hardest part of this job is the parents and children who do not listen and disagree with me of the company.

I've work for the Town of Ajax for 7 years and have loved it since the day I started! A typical day of work would be instructing swimming lessons for 2-3 hours and then guarding a public swim for another 2-3 hours. I have learned a lot of working for the town, I have gained valuable teamwork skills as well as teaching experience and experience in customer service.

Overall the town of Ajax is a fun place to work as the kids and parents are usually amazing. However, if you have hopes of moving up in the corporation, you can forget about that unless you're either best friends with, or dating a senior staff member. Opportunities for advancement are 100% more about who you know versus how well you perform your job. Not a good time.

You lose your home life in the winter on call 24:7. Not aloud to take vacation in winter time. Need to be able to work alone and well with others. If you get your job done call to get another one or if you see something that needs to be done start doing it.Be self motivated they don’t like anybody standing around.

As working as a camp counsellor you were given the opportunity to need a lot of new people and interact with them and this job did that part very well
